those 30 million copies is going to end up killing Fromsoft
their owners are going to expect it to happen again, and punish them when it doesn't
because, and this can't be stressed enough, Elden Ring sold as well as it did because nothing new was out at the time and the entire fucking world was stuck at home
had the Souls games been gaining traction with each new game? absolutely
but not to the tune of 30 million players

I've had to let the Souls series go. It isn't for us anymore...

The fact they have zero singleplayer games in the pipeline is already proof of this.
I condsider Elden Ring to be the final Soulslike game. Anything else coming after will be a cheap imitation that completely fails to deliver what people originally found appealing about the genre. It's all downhill from here.

Death to every fromdrone monkey screaming about how great this game would be to anyone who would listen. You're supposed to gatekeep good things not invite the world to destroy it. Now reap what you have sown.

even if they make Elden Ring 2, it's still unlikely to pull those kind of numbers
people know what the game is about, and not everyone who bought the first are going to want to play a sequel
and people aren't desperately looking for ANYTHING to distract themselves from the misery of a unique situation

Playing on release was a coop fags dream. Barely anyone was invading cause we were all still exploring the world and you could set your sign down literally anywhere and within a minute some other exploring player would find it and bring you in to help. I was loaded with runes thanks to that. Also was a great way to scout ahead cause there was no penalty for dying.
