Best. Fucking awesome (and lore-friendly) in every way, from their concept to the tragedy of their downfall. I wish there had been more done with them before just becoming Monolith again. Strider and Faust are objectively the best characters in the game.

Interesting enough, but frustrating. I like the idea of the remnants of Clear Sky basically being hijacked by radical agents and the 'free the zone' ideas of CS/Freedom which were previously almost universally sympathetic now being twisted into a questionable force, but ultimately their actual goal and organization is weak at best.

I love them for what they are. Just the Real Ones holding shit down in the North and keeping things contained. That being said, they have painfully little to go on as far as plot and backstory go, though that does go in line with them just being the ones who keep shit straight and simple.

I think late game is only ever going to be a factor for balancing out after getting the main questlines at least somewhat sorted out, but if the power armour and combination artifacts in the test map are anything to go by, it's definitely going to be interesting

Another ridiculous thing is that one eather gun that lets you make a little black hole/vortex. Paired with that 3x bullet round it straight up lets you fly around the entire level

AFAIK you can get Collector only as a starting trait, and yeah, I'm playing custom characters. I love RPing the shit out of these kind of games. First proper playthrough (after few initial tries just fucking around and learning the ropes) was pretty much Strelok, with Collector and Lock Smith balanced out with Guilt, Insomnia and Skinflint

The one genuinely great all-purpose eather gun i found was the basic Plasma Pistol, that thing is an outstanding sidearm and lasts a long while. I heard the pulse rifle is alright too but i never tried it
But then theres the enchanted weapons, i never even touched most of those so i have no idea of what is good in there. All i know is

yeah, im honestly gonna save most of these until theres a more fleshed out cultist faction so i can do a proper playthrough

I actually found it very admirable how the devs' autism with weapons being restricted to firemodes and certain attachments actually made even the generic rifles pretty different because of personal tastes. Not sure if this still holds up now that you can switch firemodes more freely in the latest update, i havent tried it yet. But the actual cool part is the mechanically different guns
The upgraded coil gun (gauss rifle ripoff) is obscene, you can delete everyone (and the turrets if you shoot in the right spot) from the other side of the Dead Bridge

Its fascinating playing Stalker finally, after only originally playing the original Metro games. Obviously, they share a lot of the same DNA because of the devs(and Metro literally having some of Stalkers engine in 2033) and general setting but its interesting where they differ. Stalker does a much better job creating a wide atmospheric open world where anything can and will kill you and its gameplay and gameplay loop is fantastic but its story is at best okay, and most of the time just dogshit. But that's not Stalkers purpose, the story isnt the games actual story but the story of how you're surviving and interacting with the world. That said Metros approach of an actual narrative though is great and memorable also.
This would never happen but i wonder if the talent behind both Metro and Stalker were combined to make something new it would have all the strengths both games have.

Shadow of Chernobyl if you prefer immersion, atmosphere and an intriguing story.
Call of Pripyat if you enjoy doing missions, exploring and artifact hunting. I'd recommend CoP to a newcomer, as it is much more polished and forgiving compared to the other two games. It also features fewer gunfights, while the other games tend to have arduous encounters. especially SoC late game.
Stay away from Clear Sky though. It's really hard to get into, at least it was for me.

So how does GSC move forward with Stalker post Stalker 2 ending? Like it has to be either the Strelok ending or Skif ending but like for the strelok ending it would be trying to reopen the zone but that would just be retreading ground we've already covered in 2 unless they massively expand the map and sections like Pripyat or make his ending result in major changes to the layout of things.

Dead City is pretty self explainatory. Its a cool location, hosts the Mercs and it had an interesting plot point/gameplay gimmick. Pripyat has a disapointing amount of buildings you can enter and explore so Dead City would be ideal for this too.

I was gonna say "lets not pretend that OG Stalker games released flawlessly" but truthfully, i played a tiny bit of 1.0000 SoC and besides a couple of nitpicks, the game ran and played fine. Sure it still has all the crazy bugs they fixed over time but you can still very much play and complete the game as is. The issues of S2 on the other hand to this day are too much to bear for me personally. I dont like how the game runs horribly, i dont like the fucked HDR-like effect the moment you enter or exist interiors, i dont like how the game tricks you with spawninbg things around you instead of naturally running into them, i dont like the narrative, i dont like how videogamey it all feels with stuff like replacing money with "koupons", NPCs parotting lines until you accept their task and clear distinction between "good and bad" stalkers and i especially dont like how they released an SDK that is One FUCKING TERABYTES large like WHAT?!?!??!?!?
To be brutally honest, you'd need to do some huge refactoring to bring the game into something close to the originals and while this IS the direction they're going with, what with the engine update and all that, i think its gonna take some serious effort to pull it off because its been like what, almost 2 years since the game came out and it still has issues it had since release with updates being "regularly" shipped. Its just sheerly disappointing thats all.

I encountered something new in AMK 1.4 that I haven't experienced before. I know that Stalkers will regularly loot corpses and any of the blue boxes if you place stuff in them. So I'll usually put stuff in the hidden stash locations until Sid and Barkeep start giving me rooksacks to use. But Stalkers have started stealing shit out of those as well on this playthrough. What you get out of it is up to 20k koupons plus whatever gear you can carry with a supply of Hercules, so it's not like it breaks balance no matter when it would be gone through.I didn't test if you could actually go to the electro field where the pig farm was in SOC and interact with Lukash there.
What's of more concern is if the quest has repercussions tying into the main DLC where you'd lose out on cool shit if you didn't do it, but would also be at a disadvantage if you reverted back to an old save to do the mission and went to do Cost of Hope right afterward on that same save.

if its every single stack of 5.45 you come across then i have no idea but i recall having some of the ammo i came across showing 0 as well in the vanilla wp, i believe it usually came from unloading ammo from guns

theres a file called outfits.ltx you can edit to increase the bp volume each suit gives, or just playing on easy difficulty which raises it to more manageable levels alongside other stuff like sprinting with weapons or less chance of getting zone AIDS
