You know, if I'm gonna face my painful death at the hands of a black hole, I might as well aestheticmax. What do you think so far? Switched it out for Drywood (spirit mod), smoothed out the edges, changed the torches for some proper lamps, made the walls a little thicker.

definite improvement, though you need even more block variety, and you should try to break up the rooms somewhat
just as an example, I'd put a spiral staircase on one of the sides of your storage, connecting the 1st and 2nd floors (you could also make a matching one mirrored on the other side, assuming you won't be expanding the storage any more). You could then put one in the center connecting the 2nd and 3rd floors
2nd floor could use some windows, and maybe solid blocks where those lamps are hanging off of, giving you the beginnings of two separate rooms up there instead of one big one, divided by the central spiral staircase
the top layer of the floors' material could remain wood, but the bottom layer should be swapped out for some kind of stone
the bottom layer or two of the background walls above the floors should probably be swapped to a stone-like material or alternative wood to break up the material monotony

Good good, I like these suggestions. Since I have a bed up there, I tried to experiment with a window that sort of merges with the side of the house, kind of like a skylight. If I ever see the damn sun again, it would be nice having that shine on you in the morning.
I used a spiral staircase from a previous project, using white dynasty wood as the base for the pillar. Moved a bunch of crap I don't need anymore, did some work on the top of the house, got rid of the excess draedon power cell factories (because I don't even use his weapons anyway)

After a 5 year hiatus from Calamity, I see now why people here don't like it.

>adding HP to enemies for no reason (giving every single enemy from the frost and pumpkin moon 100,000 HP just so you can show off your broken weapons)
>not just asking me to grind one, but three different kinds of ores at the same time, just for one upgrade (and they do this twice)
Don't get me wrong, I'm having some fun finding a way to break progression and get around the limitations, but I do believe I'll be uninstalling clameme after this playthrough. The moment I find out how to unblot out the sun, I think that'll be it for this playthrough.

Black Hole Anon here. Doing a playthrough right now of Calameme, and it's honestly not worth your time. It's fun to visit once every 4 or 5 years, to see how it's changed, but it is such a hog. 90% of the world will be consumed just to spawn Calamity's special resources and biomes. It'll conflict with other content mods, and overall it'll just overpower everything. The only time I end up using non-calamity weapons is when the devs forgot to secretly nerf a specific item, so it ends up doing way better than you'd expect. Like the Twinklestar bow from Redemption didn't get hit with the nerf stick, so it ends up solo-ing alot of post-moonlord bosses, though it gets classed out quickly once you get DOG and Yharon.
You can either do a playthrough with Calamity, or you can do a playthrough with a ton of other content mods. They do not play well together.

Honestly, it's gotten so bad that I'm thinking of calling it quits on this run. I thought Calamity was tolerable, but then I find out that they just nerf everything into the ground. Like post game superbosses like the exo mechs and supreme witch literally turn off ALL health regen. Doesn't even matter if you're using items from calamity itself, the game just decides that you can't use it. I've also got maxed out auric armor and accessories, and I still die in 4 hits from any attack. It's just blatant godmod bullshit.
I'm sorry if it makes me look like a quitter in everyone's eyes, and if it was any other mod, I'd power through. but Calamity is a bit too much.
Can't even begin crafting the soul of eternity because of calamity cross-mod compat, which makes it so every single fargo item requires you to defeat every single boss.

On the plus side, I had alot of fun making my commie blocks livable. And admittedly I had some great bouts of fortune at the beginning of the run.

I could regale everyone with some of my experiences from what i consider my failed black hole run. For example, despite spirit classic being compatible with spirit reforged, the two mess up in terms of world generation. The decrepit idol never spawned, so you couldnt do some missions in the spirit journal. Like i said before, spirit and reforged hate calamity worldgen, so no spirit biome. So i couldnt even get the items necessary to summon dusk king.
On the plus side, the spirit biome not spawning didnt hamper me otherwise. The biome is basically wasted space, nothing to do but just gawk at recycled trash mobs.
Another problem was fargos trying to be "compatible" with calamity. But it did this by nerfing its own weapons to a retarded degree. So items that would take forever to craft would lose 50% of their dps, making them useless. This was even worse when both fargos and calamity whacked the zenith with the nerf stick. So you had to defeat post moonlord enemies just to access it, and then it isnt even that good. I was out-DPSing it with random drops from dragonfolly and nebuleus.
The last time i felt this disappointment was back in 2016, after crafting the vortex beater and thinking "damn this gun is amazing, it must be the best gun in the game" and it looked so cool to boot. But then i get the sdmg drop, aka the gay dolphin weapon, and it beat out the vortex beater. My disappointment was immeasurable.

i opened one of my very old worlds, i made it pre moonlord so it doesn't even has the crown yet, i tried to make a nice surface mushroom biome and paint it so it looked like a regular tree but the fucking truffle decided living in a commieblock was better

You know the irony I just realized? I've been daisychaining games back to back to have a central narrative, and my previous game (starsector) was one I also had to quit early because of a mod that threw unbalanced trash at me and ruined the run. It also involved entities emerging from black holes.
And that's how my last Terraria run died. What a coincidence.

At minimum I want the ability to reset the fog of war.
Ideally I want that, and the option for blocks that I place myself to be dark on the map instead of fullbright.
You could do it in other ways as well. Say a shadow thrower weapon that darkens the map instead of lighting it up, like the inverse of the clentaminator for example (minus the biome morph ofc). Or you could make it so the current screen you're on is reset instead of the whole world.

god damn i feel OLD, i was in high school when they revamped the desert and i was honestly disappointed that they didn't add an antlion queen boss so one day when i was bored in class i sketched a mockup, english is my second language but terraria's translation was so dogshit back then that i wrote my ideas with some very obvious ESLisms.
i think the main idea was to have an arena shaped like a pit where quicksand dragged you to the middle (think of conveyor belts that make jumping harder) like how an actual antlion would hunt other bugs

Replaying Palworld and wow, reseeing what it got from Terraria collab is night and day. A whole dungeon with monsters, some strong to OP weapons and armour to go with it, Moon Lord as a raid boss; it's insane how good its side of the collab is, Terraria's feel half-assed compared to it.

make the rope shaft one tile wider to the right so that the rope lays in the middle
put a layer of stone (bricks, slab, etc.; your choice) under the bottom floor boreal wood floor so it looks like you have a foundation. maybe do something similar for the walls of the rope shaft and the ceiling of the top floor
use a different material for the foreground walls (the physical barrier walls that make up the outline of the home). i've kinda been liking brown painted mushroom lately, but that can be iffy to work with. you might like brown painted mahogany (jungle wood) or ebonwood/shadewood
use different light sources like lamps, candles, or hanging lamps, and put things on the tables like books, candles, or plates with some food on them (roasted bird or squirrel on a stick)
maybe extend the bottom of the rope room out to the right so you can put down a hearth and making a den or cozy living room, with a bookcase or two
put a layer of platforms along some ceilings to make them look extra supported. i'd suggest the room with the big window, and the two middle rooms in the bottom floor with the big tables in them
use mahogany wood walls for the background walls instead of boreal. replace the wooden walls in the rope shaft with stone, or maybe even those wood+stone walls you can make at a heavy assembler or sawmill; the kind you find in underground houses. replace the bottom layer of background walls that touch the flooring with something like mud brick walls painted gray
