Anyone else use weed for better horror gaming experience?
sometimes forget whats coming up and get a jumpscare
sometimes i dont stab just the right amount of times and return to the area later and get jumped not even a second past the door and get jumpscared
sometimes jiggle physics distracts you and you get a jumpscare
sometimes you let the all female zombies mod bite once or twice and realize you are not into this shit because adaptive difficulty made it so you went from 100% with a blue herb down to 1% after one hit
why the fuck are there no mods to remove adaptive difficulty what the fuck is wrong why are they still doing it they been fucking doing it since re4 and that was in the ps2/gamecube era. even when chris punched a rock that was also adaptive for the amount of butteon presses required

For me, at least first play through, was the fact that you could hear Mr X looking for you in the RPD in RE2 remake, since it meant you would have to chose between shooting whatever enemy was blocking your way and alert him or try to dodge it and risk getting grabbed

i keep trying to practice the dodge in RE3, and its extremely inconsistent
like sometimes i'll do it on the zombies but it feels random, pressing "aim" to dodge is a bit clunky too
meh, i'll just play the game as usual

also i just learned
the pause button time still counts towards your final run time
re3 doesn't even have a pause button on PC i believe, but on 2 I have like 30min on pause on my leon run while I did some chores, coulda gotten a higher grade, oh well

fuck sake, there are so many zombies in annoying spots and im tryinna explore
ashamed to say I already used 2 full heals and a ton of pistol ammo, not sure if 3 is way harder than 2 or I'll get way more resources to compensate, oh and these zombies are way faster and more aggressive than the usual

i just got to the first nemesis encounter and with only 15 handgun ammo its not enough to kill him, fuck sake, should I just restart the game and go for the kill so I can get that fancy scoped pistol? i downed him once but its not enough, the shotgun is too slow, i guess i'd need like 45 total pistol ammo to get him?
or is it not worth the hassle

hmmm.. not even if you unlock the enhanced? I've heard its even good against nemesis lategame, but yeah idk, think I'll just restart the game tomorrow and try and get to nemesis with enough ammo to kill him, killing him isn't THAT hard in that segment even without dodging, just have to sidestep his stuff take 2-3 shots repeat, but it took me like 8 attempts to down him with 15 pistol
I got too cocky after blasting mr X in 2... so far 3 is feeling like the hardest classic RE but I guess it'll depend on how generous the game is midgame and later

This is retarded, but I understand why you might think this way. Allow me to explain:
Enhanced Pistol Ammo doubles the damage and stagger value of your handgun. The EAGLE 6.0 has a 1/6 chance of performing a critical hit (5x damage - basically the same as a magnum shot, 100% stagger), can fire fast as fuck with you holding down the fire button as opposed to the enhanced handgun needing you to fire each shot individually, and it reloads instantly so you don't need to go into the menu for a timely reload.
It's so much better in practice than the enhanced samurai edge it's genuinely not even funny. It's also worth killing nemesis at least three times for the F AID box, which necessarily means you'll be getting the EAGLE 6.0
I'd also argue this means you have no reason to use Gunpowder C to make magnum ammo, freeing it all up to make freeze ammo for your grenade launcher. The Western Custom is more debatable as to whether it is better than the Enhanced Shotgun, since the Enhanced Shotgun actually does more damage and is easier to land headshots with for decapitations, but the WC fires way faster and is held at eye level like the pistol, and having a wide enough spread to hit four targets vs the E. Shotgun's 3. My opinion has always been that between them the E. Shotgun is better in every situation you'd specifically want a shotgun for.

>>563681017
I'm so pissed off this piece of shit fucking trash website ate my very informative post I just tried to make for you. But anyway.
Basically the Samurai Edge is dogshit. The Enhanced Ammo for it flatly doubles its damage and stagger values. The EAGLE 6.0 has a 1/6 chance of performing a critical hit, which deals 5x damage (the same as a magnum shot) and guarantees a stagger. It fires way faster, can fire automatically by holding down the fire button, and reloads instantly so you don't have to go into the main menu for a timely reload.
It can effectively replace your pistol and VASTLY reduce your need for magnum ammo, which lets you instead use all that Gunpowder C for freeze shots for your grenade launcher, which are the most universally useful ones to the extent there almost isn't a point in any of the others existing.
The Western Custom shotgun is much more of an open debate on whether to use it or the E. Shotgun, but the enhanced shotgun is generally better in my opinion since it does more damage than the Western Custom and is better for most situations where you'd want to use a shotgun. The WC is held at eye level instead of at the waist and fires fast, and it can hit 4 targets at once as opposed to 3, but once you have Enhanced Shotgun ammo - which is the only use for gunpowder B if you're not making pistol ammo or acid grenades so you'll probably have access to it by no later than the clocktower - the Enhanced Shotgun still edges it out in real performance.
But the EAGLE is so much better than the SE its not even funny. You'll want to get the EAGLE anyway since killing nemesis 3 times nets you the F-AID Box.

The western custom is cool but its basically a meme gun. Its actual value is being able to dump its tube of shotgun shells into an enemy point blank and delete them, which can be satisfying, but unless you're playing on Arranged Heavy mode the regular shotgun with enhanced shells will instantly kill or stagger most of the things you'd want to use it on
By contrast the eagle is an absolute monster that has saved my life many times, especially in randomizers

That’s not the Samurai Edge, that’s a generic Beretta 96 Vertec Inox. Remember: Wesker specifically said he’s saving his actual Samurai Edge for Chris in 5, and fires at Sheva with a separate Beretta 92FS that he keeps on him. He’s got a twisted sense of sentimentality.
>>
>>563715994
It wouldn't because of a variety of reasons but tl;dr pistol scopes are designed with particular features to accomodate sharp recoil impulses
the sti eagle also uses a bull barrel and the one featured in RE3 has a compensator, greatly reducing recoil, which is why the player character can just hold down the fire button and magdump on target in a couple of seconds with barely any recoil animation.
>>563716951
I'm glad someone made a mod to restore it because holy shit the glock pissed me off. I know it was in Outbreak, but still. It was also fairly anachronistic for the extended magazine and shit to be possessed by a non-LEO civilian at the time.
>>
>>
>>
>>563718280
It's not, actually, there's a gap there that would hypothetically allow it to safely eject spent casings, with two reliefs to assist in that
It's still a really shitty design though, real world bridge mounts just have one bif relief window in the side so there are no chances whatsoever of a stovepipe
>>563717759
I'm seething because they put two glocks in the game.
>>
>>563718280
the one on the glock 100% is, and the silliest part is, it's pretty clearly a serendipity mount which you really only see on 1911s and CZs, I don't think anyone has ever put one on a glock
>>563717759
wasn't the stendo dropped by nemmy?
unregardless, jill being what she is in 3make and the samurai edge being lost in the first 3 minutes of the game and being immediately replaced by a glock 19 of all things just cements the fact that 3make was made with malice
>>
>>563719296
Maybe I'm misremembering, I thought he dropped the optic and the mag was in the safe
additional point: they didn't even model her actual samurai edge and instead gave her Chris'. This is especially bad because the mesh and model already existed from RE2R's DLC.

Also, what’s stranger is that the Samurai Edge in 3R isn’t a match for either Chris or Jill’s versions from 2R. Chris’ SE has a blued slide and a silver trigger, while Jill’s has a black slide and a black trigger. The one in 3R has the black slide from Jill’s, and the silver trigger from Chris’.

I just can’t understand why they’d go out of their way to create a unique model for Jill’s SE that’s not only incorrect, but also only on screen for less than a minute in game before being lost forever, especially since they could’ve just reused the 2R DLC model, which while it also wasn’t quite a perfect match for the original, was a lot closer than the strange Franken Edge they created.

On a slightly unrelated note, what the hell is .44 AE?
>>
>>563721931
It doesn't exist, someone did a fucky wucky. The original desert eagle from 2 was chambered in .50 AE, which has the same rim diameter as .44 MAG, so all you really need to do to convert your DEagle to .44 is to change the barrel and magazine out. Heres the fucked up part: in the game, the ammo box for the Lightning Hawk is still .50 AE.

getting to RPD while conserving at least like 60 ammo on the pistol total for nemesis faggot in RE3 is so hard, the fuckin dodge mechanic is worst of all against zombies and in RE3 they seem to tank way more hits + are more agro than RE2, i do make it but with only 1 heal left every time
>>

that happens to me when i burn out on games, but for you it should be too soon to be burned out, idk, make a chill environment with snacks or smth and try and continue your run, force it that is, if u get into the game again great if not play smth else for a while I guess
>>
>>
>>
>>563734442
The Magnum is good, but the Grenade Laucher is a bit better because of it having situational ammo types. The Ice Rounds for it are Nemmy’s weakness, so it can make some earlier encounters with him a bit easier.
>>
>>
>>563737009
yeah ik that, but dodging the rockets is a bit tricky and he'll sometimes decide to charge at u anyway
also heals are kinda scarce for how many random enemies there are all over the place, i think 3 is by far the hardest classic game ive played so far at least, vs 1/2

>>563717267
>Wesker specifically said he’s saving his actual Samurai Edge for Chris in 5
He never says so. You can notice he has a Samurai Edge ready for Chris, but he doesn't say he was saving it for Chris.
>>563737339
>yeah ik that, but dodging the rockets is a bit tricky
It's best to turn sidedays to Nemesis, and run forward when he shoots it, easier and more consistent than using the dodge.
>and he'll sometimes decide to charge at u anyway
IIRC he'll do that after shooting 3 rockets always, and he only has a total of 5, after that he'll either use it as a blunt weapon, or throw it away. He will eventually throw it away whenever he decides to shoot, because that's when he realizes he's out of ammo and throws it away.
>>563738016
>is there some adaptive difficulty bs goin on?
I don't think so. IIRC RE4 was among the first RE games, maybe the first, that had it.

thats just the nature of these older games the RE ones are more forgiving than most of the era imo, besides not saving often on your first playthrough is a mistake, not saving is supposed to be for veterans to show off and get better scores n shit, not for your first playthrough, I just made the same mistake though, thought I was slick so didn't save, lost 5min~ of difficult backtracking to pick up some ammo, need to do the walkback of shame now
>>
>>563749724
>besides not saving often on your first playthrough is a mistake
You are forced through the entire sewer section and Sherry section after a boss fight with no opportunity to save unless you backtrack significantly. I probably won't even attempt RE3 since it is supposed to be similar but even harder. I can't stand stupid instakill horseshit that forces you to waste hours of your time playing the same sections over and over.
>>
>>
>>563749724
NTA, but I literally S Ranked RE2 on my first try with no saves. Granted, I had just come off of Arrange Mode from RE1 Director’s Cut, but my point still stands that it’s pretty easy. Probably the easiest in the trilogy.
>>
>>563750208
well if you're good at classic RE yeah, my recent run of the trilogy since they dropped on steam is my first time ever playing em
I swear I coulda gotten B here had i not left the game idle 30min on pause while i did some chores n shit
apparently pause time counts
>>563749950
that kinda stuff is rly rare in these games tho, but backtracking is normal if you wanna be extra safe and don't know what ur doing or whats coming, the cockroaches aren't instakill u just got super unlucky lmao

This isn't true actually, starting from RE2 you can send them to the floor and turn them into crawlers by dealing enough damage to their legs.
>>563726959
>>563729284
There are hidden ammo drops in the environment btw. One you're probably missing is in that alcove with the grate you'll need a crank for, where you see Brad shooting some zombies before fleeing into J's bar, there's a big pile of junk next to the zombies. Examine it until you get the prompt to pick up the hidden ammo.

yeah I know I do try to scout for ammo, usually theres a ton on bodies especially in this game, also ive tried shooting their legs, they easily take like 3-4+shots
at that point why not spend like 3+ more just to kill em for good, so annoying
damn though, dodging hunters ive been pulling it off quite easily, the mechanic is hard to do for zombies and kinda nemesis though, for hunters the timing seems super forgiving

RE3 starts before RE2 and ends after it, yeah.I always found it weird that there was no real explanation for why so much of the RPD was boarded up on Jill's visit but not when Leon and Claire get there. I understand the meta reasoning of course, but I honestly think most people wouldn't have minded if they just had Jill go to herself 'I don't need to go there..' or 'I hear awful noises on the other side...' to signal that room wasn't in the game. I also thought it was weird how Marvin apparently dragged himself from his office to the lockers just to talk to Leon and Claire, then dragged himself back into his office.
>>563738016
Enemies are tougher than 2 in general, yeah. The game doesn't have adaptive difficulty.
>>
>>563779045
For nemesis its usually easier to just weave past his left side when he comes at you than rely on the dodge. Another benefit of the EAGLE is that its way easier to dodge with it because of its fire rate. I'd say zombies are the hardest to dodge because their attacks are so close and the frame window for dodging is so tight on them compared to virtually every other enemy in the game.
>>
>>563779045
>why not spend more
because a zombie on the ground can be easily killed by the knife if you're scrimping for every bullet you've got for the nemesis fight in front of the rpd
he's much easier after you return from the stars office ofc, which is the earliest you can get the eagle
it kind of stops being worth it to shoot their legs with the eagle though both because you'll have more ammo available and because of how often you'll be killing them in one shot

Took forever but finally completed Berserker 4 Death Pro. Insane mod, insanely difficult, pushes the gameplay to its absolute survival limits. So many fun batshit encounters but often also unbalanced and excessive bs especially in the Castle. Island was better balanced as you get more op weapons but was feeling burned out by then. Goddamn what a ride.
Should I play some Mercs or some OG4 next?

I wanna buy a physical version of siren 2. But it never came out in the US. I want to actually play it AND understand it. So my question, if anyone knows is if the JAP version is fine. I dont know if it has english sub or not in that version. Or if I have to get PAL. And if I do is there any difference or are all PAL copies the same and one from Italy is the same as one from UK.

You can actually kill it lickity split with the EAGLE. And yeah, you will, but you should be using those for freeze rounds - technically you should've been doing that the whole time, but it'll be fine.

>>563783315
i already used the 6 freeze rounds I had on the mandatory clocktower fight, now i have a lot of heals but short on ammo on pretty much everything, the game rly isnt that generous compared to re2... for how much bullshit it constantly throws at you, altho i was wasting too much gunpower to craft shotgun/pistol
ever since the clocktower the games been stingy wheres the fuckin gunpowder
>>
>>563781271
>>563781607
The western custom is a flat upgrade in most ways if you don't have enhanced shotgun shells yet. Also if you didn't kill him at the Clocktower, you won't get the assault rifle in the Dead Factory.
Actually, if you were very persistent and took advantage of your routing, you could have gotten the Assault Rifle as early as the clock tower balcony when he ambushes you there. Figuring stuff like that out was what made this game so fun and replayable, honestly.
>>
>>563783505
You should've made better use of the gunpowder it gave you before bro....
You'll find some more in the Dead Factory. The game gives you MASSIVE gunpowder dumps on your return to the first part of the game, which is mostly optional. Dario's shipping container had a bunch, for example. If you "correctly" manage your gunpowder you'll basically never run out of ammo but if you don't you'll be short pretty often. It's something I like a lot about the game, since it lets you decide how to play e.g. you can have a lot of freeze rounds by mixing gunpowder C+C, or have more magnum ammo by mixing C+C+C but depending on your choice, you'll always be short for the other ammo type.
>>
>>563783821
RE2 fed me magnum ammo all the fuckin time, here i haven't seen it as a drop ONCE, i guess u have to craft it, but i'll be using gunpowder i find on freeze rounds so ig won't get to use the magnum again
>>
>>563783821
i always prefered just mixing single C's with burst rounds because burst rounds suck ass by themselves. this either allows you to craft some magnum ammo or just get an absolute FUCK ton of freeze rounds between converting all your burst rounds to freeze rounds and still having a few c+c's left over.
>>
>>563783505
Theres more than enough ammo to kill everything twice over.I know I made a youtube vid doing it.Its nice seeing someone play re3 for the first time though. I love RE3. Probabbly my favorite RE game.
>>
>>563783972
Yeah, there are only two drops for magnum ammo in the entire game if you don't craft it lmfao
They're in the park/zoo and the dead factory. This is one of the reasons the EAGLE is so valuable, since its 5x critical damage makes it do as much damage as a magnum shot. In terms of probability it means roughly every six or seven handgun shots, you get a magnum shot out of it, which is insane levels of value. If you dump 60 rounds onto an enemy hypothetically, that's between 8-10 magnum shots in critical damage output alone.

RE3 is like the dark souls (lmao) of classic RE with a huge skill ceiling, which is why I cba to get that good at it and am struggling a bit, since im just barely getting used to tank controls let alone timing dodges lol, gimmie RE1 any day where unless its remake I managed to pretty much clear the whole mansion with ammo left over, not a single hunter fucker survived my grenade launcher
they're all great games though idk, after this I plan to play RE7 and village, never played, was avoiding since none of the beloved characters are in there, but meh, idk how big of a role chris has in village, hes on the cover lol, but i think he's just a cameo at the end
>>
>>563784570
I didn't realize it until I was playing it again earlier this month but looking at my save files I've been playing and regularly beating this game 2-3 times a year and RE1 and 2 once or twice each. And remembering how much I played them as a kid it was more or less the same then. I do think Code Veronica and DS had the best knife mechanics though. I've been thinking of trying out a mod for RE3 that gives Jill the Deadly Silence shoulder button knife, I think it'd really change how the game plays and how the player thinks about resources - it certainly did in DS.
>>
>>563784883
oh and after village hopefully gonna play requiem finally, can't afford the 70$ price tag rn lmao. that why first gonna give 7/village a try finally
i do hope we get to see a jill comeback in the next game though, even if its remake 3 asshole jill whatever
>>
>>563784883
7's a fun game, 8 is half of a fun game, and I'd even argue that at the time, while 7 was very different it at least captured and evoked the same kind of "feeling" that I had playing RE1 for the first time. Unfortunately it also birthed pretty much all of the problems plaguing every RE title that came out since. I won't spoil much besides the below and really want to see how you react to it.
This is a very lite spoiler about Chris:He's very involved in 8. He also gets done dirty because basically everything bad that happens in the game is his fault, and it was exclusively because he was being a ginormous retard out of character. But Chris hasn't been in character since the end of RE5, so....
Anyway in 7 he just shows up as a cameo at the end, but then they added an expansion where you play as him to close out 7's plot since it ended mostly unresolved in the base game. It was fun and the closest he came to feeling like Chris again, if only he'd been voiced by Roger Craig Smith or a good sound-alike instead of the least inspired VA they could find.
>>
>>
>>563785339
Requiem has a real crack now so you can play it for free. If you like it, you can just go buy it later when you have the shekels and its on sale. I'm not buying it because I think it did a lot of shitty things and don't want to encourage Capcom to do it again with my wallet.
>>
>>563785457
i was actually looking forward more to village than to 7 because of the kino transylvanian setting, reminds me of RE4, there's a castle too right
but i'll see which ones better
>>563785585
hopefully i dont burn out on RE by the time im done with village, these games aren't that long so should be good, but i already saw a mild spoiler that pissed me off to seethe hunk vs leon thingseems like the game is filled with fanservice like that which is why every RE enjoyer I know rly liked it, dunno
>>
>>563785814
Yeah. But uh, you don't get to see very much of it or stay very long in it. Probably my biggest criticism of 8, outside of the characters and story, is the pacing. You basically play a series of 10-15 minute vertical slices moving between setpieces until the game ends. This is after you sit through an hour long scripted prologue sequence. This happens in 7 too - the hour long prologue I mean - but it was way worse than 7, since 7 at least had gameplay and you could walk around and explore instead of being more or less forced to press forward on your thumbstick the whole time.
I liked 7 way more than 8 for a lot of reasons but I'll wait for you to actually start playing those games to talk about them.
>RE9
The game has a lot of member berry slop that lacks substance. Since you mentioned it, Leon fighting Hunk made me cringe because it completely misunderstands what the appeal was to Hunk in the first place. It's not the first time Capcom thought of making him a "real"/active character in the story, but they've historically had someone in the room savvy enough to point out how retarded that is and tardwrangle.
I can voice basically the same criticism for every member berry moment in RE9 without even addressing the plot itself and I'd argue that's enough of a reason to shit on it.
In terms of gameplay it also does alot of things wrong, but I think there were at least good ideas and sometimes they actually execute something well and it's really fun. It's a game with high highs, and low lows.
It also repeats most of 8's cardinal sins which pissed me off a lot since they had 5 whole years to figure out how to do it better.

You should definitely space out your playthroughs. Burn out is very easy to get when you’re playing so much of the same series and might even sour your experience on things you would have enjoyed otherwise. I personally think that all 3 of the nu-RE games are very solid romps, certainly not anywhere near ‘bad’, but they’re in a position where your first playthrough is the most important, so however that goes is likely to be how you’ll feel about it.

I'm playing the mod now. It's fun, but I have serious issues with some of the decisions. Throwing so many chainsawniggers at you in a row was shitty, and I dislike how often the game will just arbitrarily put blockages in the player's way to stop them from being able to use topography to their advantage. E.g. entering Mendez Manor, when Mendez appears with Dr. Salvador and a Bella Sister there's suddenly a huge stack of crates where you entered the property from, so there's nowhere for you to maneuver to, you have to loop them around the house over and over.

I love fighting chainsaw groups so no complaint, there are far more annoying enemies being spammed later on. Like being forced to fight multiple regenerators + spiders in a tiny blocked corridor, pure cancer. Blocking backtracking cheesing makes sense but it's shitty he removed some of the non-linearity, I missed a couple treasures because I couldn't revisit an area. Post some webms if you can! Good luck.

I think there are better ways to do it. For example instead of having me get jumped immediately by all three of them, have Salvador and the Bella sister waiting at the exit he wanted to block, or have some bear traps set down. It makes no sense at all that they got a bunch of huge crates teleported there without leon noticing.
I also hate that he got rid of the shooting galleries.

overall have to agree though, these games aren't very dated, there's not much convoluted stuff about the puzzles or anything, much against their mainstream reputations, even tank controls, which everyone loves to hate, they're not that bad, you get used to em, and it increases the skill floor ceiling whatever for skillful dodging and avoiding enemies in these games, fixed perspective just don't work without them, it makes the games way more cinematic

Not him but as someone who was also disappointed by DL2 I can confirm The Beast is a return to form to 1. Very fun and satisfying and the choice to go to a verdant lush European village instead of a dinghy brown filter ME shithole was very inspired. The plot is kind of nonsensical but the gameplay and fairly enjoyable characters (Kyle is cool) make it worth playing. I really need to get back to it honestly.

DL2 got lots of patches in the time its been out. guns added, requires dailies and such. you can unlock most of the base guns the first day or two or so. less tedious in grinding, theres no longer screamers every other foot at night, etc. There are A LOT of mechanics in DLTB from DL2. like more stuff to do at night, upgrading blueprints, etc.
But DLTB is a nice mixture of both DL1 and DL2. theres still scavving, questing, exploring and shit like that.

the plot isn't the games strong suites anyway, it's different enough to be a completely difference experience, just space em out, by the time you reach the remakes the OGs will be far back enough that you won't even notice, if you go release order that is

You can't back track after the El Gigante fight, but to be fair I didn't try to access it again after Chapter 3 when I figured out it was disabled. It's nice to know the shooting gallery one is there though, it does make me wonder why he bothered disabling it at all.

I'm not sure if I'd say there's a lot of ammo there, but more than the Park/Zoo since the game doesn't want you to eat shit.
>>563840340
Yeah by the time you get your last opportunity you won't have much of the game left to go anyway. The Assault Rifle is a really dope weapon. Fired in 3-round burst, it only takes 1% of its ammo, giving you effectively 300 ammo for it and it can kill most zombies in 1-3 bursts. Using it on tougher enemies like Hunters/Drain Deimos/Brainsuckers/etc. you should use full auto, it'll take about 5-7% ammo to kill one since it drains it quickly. Carlos' gameplay section actually does a shitty job of familiarizing you with the weapon's quirks since not having it on auto fucks you for most of it. I think it was so cool you could tell what mode it was in based on how the character holds the gun, if its held at the shoulder its in 3 round burst, and if its held at the hip, its in full auto. I doubt you'll play this game again, but if you play the mercs mode you can unlock a starting assault rifle for heavy mode.

RE3 is famous for its rng. Everything from enemy spawns to puzzle solutions to item spawns are pseudo randomized between one and up to five variations. (Mostly for puzzles. For the most part item and enemy variations are one to three variations).

I wouldn't bother with acid rounds at all. Everything weak to acid is weak to freeze. I'd have crafted freeze rounds, shotgun rounds and handgun rounds
By the way, you can actually use A+B mixes to create more ammo than AAA handgun ammo or BBB shotgun ammo.
AAB creates a bunch of shotgun ammo and BBA creates a bunch of handgun ammo.

i already beat the game, but that was probably my main mistake with the ammo management yeah, shoulda done that way more, but yeah, there's enough ammo and heals to beat the game anyway, maybe even kill nemy every single time, i only missed 2 encounters, when he shows up in the alley I didn't wanna blow all my ammo, then after being electrocuted in the clocktower, but yeah, pretty good game, just started 7 gonna continue it tomorrow, this game takes itself more seriously than any RE I've played lol but prob cause like >>563874689 said

Cont.'d ran out of room. Like I was saying its usually better unless you're rushing for enhanced ammo asap to just save A and B gunpowders to make concoctions of AAB and BBA. It's also my honest opinion that freeze rounds are better than magnum ammo, as they deal AOE damage, kill non-boss enemies in 1-2 hits, do a shitton of damage to the nemesis - more than the magnum does - and slows down anything it doesn't kill by half, which is very helpful for hunters and nemesis. Frozen hunters can't leap at you and a frozen nemesis can't run, only walk.

To be fair, Brad survived it hunting his ass for like, two whole days before it finally got him. People shit on him pretty unfairly, according to the guidebook he was basically Alpha Team's humblenigger shoelacer and did the job of all the non-combat roles, which is why everyone on Alpha Team is a combat specialist as opposed to Bravo Team, where everyone has their own role. People forget he was ex-military too.

Imagine being a fan when RE5 came out, excited for a new chris jill game only to find out she jobbed off screen, and only appears for like five minutes as a boss fight and at the final cutscene. They had to make two whole DLC expansions where you can play as Jill to try and make up for it.

He didn't want her to get caught by the glowies, like he knew would happen to him if he wanted Sherry to have the help and protection she needed. He helps her in Code Veronica by telling Chris where she is, since while she was fucking off in Europe, Leon became the govt. liason for Chris' group, which eventually became the BSAA.
>>

>>563884887
Basically, yeah. RE6 was a clown show that also took itself seriously. RE7 was more grounded to try and get people back into the mood for Resident Evil; there's other reasons that contribute to it too, like how it started development as a completely different game revolving around actual supernatural events with Ethan being a detective looking for a missing woman named Remy who was a spoopy g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-GHOST
Another factor was that the game was made with VR in mind. It even came with nasty blood scented candles back in the day to light up while you played the game with your PSVR headset. That was also why it was a first person game.

Yeah. There was mercs versus, mercs reunion, lost in nightmares, and desperate escape. Desperate escape is about what Jill was doing while Chris and Sheva fought Wesker. Josh is her partner character.
Personally, I think it would've been better if Sheva and Josh had the DLC while Jill and Chris fought Wesker, but they didn't really plan for the DLC when the game was being made, so lol.

Not really horror but RE-adjacent, playing Onimusha 2 on Hard and damn it actually feels much harder than Normal. Feels heavily balanced around mastering Issen otherwise everything is tanky and you only get worthless orbs. Any fans here? Beat the first boss but could his jump attack be issen'd? Got sword and spear, spear seems meh compared to sword. Is it worth upgrading the sword?

i remember being a bit disappointed that u don't play as the same guy in 2, its a hundreds of years gap type shit i think
>>
>>563886198
They kept it FPS becauseit was a completely different game unrelated to resident evil that was being developed alongside 7 and got stuck in development hell before being cancelled and rebooted as RE8. VR wasn't supported at launch, it came years later around the time RE4 came out
To be fair its really hard to fail that fight in RE3. It's kind of hard if the railgun resets because you fuck up but I can't say I know anyone who actually ever died to nemesis there.
>>
>>563886362
Her not being in 6 was something they knew they fucked up too because Revelations came out the same year as RE6, only like, 8 months earlier.
Chris' campaign again should have been a Jill campaign with Chris as the supporter/partner character. According to the director, not doing this was a willful decision to chase the COD audience, which is also why Chris' character development got reset and he was remade as a generic soldier man.

>idk why those games are so forgetable
1.) 3DS game originally and 2.) Because they pussied out of the kino original premise and what we wound up getting kind of sucked ass outside of raid mode and the setting. If Jill wasn't in the game, no one would be talking about it.
The game's original premise was that Chris was being held hostage and Jill would have to rescue him, with there being a fake/imposter Chris too. It was left up in the air which one was the real Chris, but implicitly it was the hostage since the other Chris holds Jill at gunpoint. It also would have featured real zombies on the Queen Zenobia instead of scagdead, like in the game's 3DS demo. There was a really shitty early storyboard concept of Hunk being a main character and antagonist heavily involved in the plot that got axed.
Jill was also being voiced by Patricia Ja Lee (who voiced her in RE5) instead of Michelle Ruff.
>>
>>563887293
I don't know why he existed in the main story really, he showed up for maybe five minutes. His biggest showing was stealing screen time from Jill in the DLC and turning on an elevator in the main game.

Its funny you should mention that! In prototype storyboards of RE5, Sheva and Josh were basically side characters, while their 'roles' in the main story - though I use that word loosely given how different these concept builds of RE5 were - were instead being filled by Rebecca and Barry.

Its because Wesker experimented on her. Sherry is also supposed to age slowly because of how her regeneration works but they made her look noticeably way older for some reason.
Rev 2 basically only received positive changes as it was developed with the game we got, for the most part being probably about 90% accurate to early storyboards and development builds. They had a really clear vision about the kind of game they wanted. Though one change that was made early on is that Rev 2 started as a fixed camera game but they quickly pivoted away from that idea. According to the director, they really wanted The Walking Dead Telltale crowd which is what inspired the episodic format, as opposed to it just being an aesthetic in Rev 1. Stuff that got cut was retardshit like natalia being able to generate laser beams with psychic powers.

It's the closest to RE1 design-wise. Incredible atmosphere, more focus on puzzles and resource management, actually survival hard on Hard. One of my favorites. I'll never understand the hate, like there are a couple of legitimate nitpicks that get wildly exaggerated (and can be remedied with the chest mod). Must play if you love RE1 but maybe not if you prefer the action of the sequels I guess.
>>
>>
>>
>>563890292
..my niggy in Chris, aging post puberty is the result of faulty cellular replication. Your body gets less accurate about reproducing cells as time goes on. Someone with perfect super regeneration would never get old.
>>
>>
>>563891563
First run, Normal. Second run, Hard. If I like the game enough to want to 100% it I clean up tasks on Easy. I make exceptions to Resident Evil and play on Hard first because I'm very familiar with the franchise although some of the games lock Hard behind a completion.
>>
>>563890417
They don't. Outbreak had Daylight, which totally destroys all T-cells in the body which is what the vaccine in Degeneration was supposed to be - a mass produced cure. But as of 9, neither of those things exist I guess. The super vaccine made from Jake's blood in 6 also doesn't exist for some reason. There's now a super duper cure that is basically just daylight that exists in 9 and was made in secret by Spencer before his death.
>>563890049
I wouldn't have minded if Scagdead were their own enemy types and zombies were still the main goon. I had the same issue with Molded in RE7.

Capcom basically has an issue of being too afraid to make new IP's to chase different crowds. It's why I'm kind of excited for Pragmata, though I haven't played it yet.
>Especially for the North American market, I think the series needs to head in that direction," said Masachika Kawata, Resident Evil Producer.
>Looking at the marketing data for survival horror games ... the market is small, compared to the number of units Call of Duty and all those action games sell."
> Capcom saw Telltale's success with The Walking Dead and all the conversations that happened in between episodes and hope to create a similar reaction with Revelations 2. "It gives users the opportunity to take the conversation out of the game and into their actual life," Okabe says. We won't spoil anything, but the ending of our demo episode had a woman echoing some pretty cryptic and deep philosophies.
>We also found out Moira Burton (daughter of Barry Burton) is afraid of firearms due to a tragedy in her past. Okabe says this would be a "huge" and "important part" of the story. He also hinted that this Revelations 2 would focus a lot on the characters' inner turmoil. "If you're into that character-based personal drama, there's going to be plenty of that here," Okabe says.
They basically raped Barry's character and killed his other daughter for clickbait.

Because in 0 you have 12 item slots between the two characters you control at almost all times, and can freely pick up and put down items. Autistic faggots then decided that the best way to play the game was to spent hours trawling the map to bring all the items to one or two central spots and dump them there instead of picking up and putting down resources as you need to as the game was designed for you to do. Outbreak does the exact same thing but even less convenient and nobody complained about it.
I feel convinced that most of the complaints are people who didn't actually play it and are just extrapolating how bad it was based on the very legitimate criticism of how fucking RETARDED the hookshot is and how poorly thought out its uses were. Or they're just parroting some e-celeb's opinion, that happens a lot too.
Another complaint is that the lock on is very simplistic and shit compared to some other contemporary RE games. It only really matters for one boss battle but it makes me wonder how the fuck they didn't catch it in playtesting.
>>
>>
>>
>>563891112
Everyone just leaves items on the main hall floor anyway. It just becomes annoying because there's an item limit per room.
>>563891198
It's very accessible, combat is simple (except... there's a boss fight early on that can be challenging, and not representative of the rest of the game), more of a mystery puzzle metroidvania than a horror game. Play in Detective mode for the best experience.
>>563891563
Depends on the game. Wouldn't recommend RE0 or older titles on Hard first playthrough. But all REEngine RE titles are best played on Hardcore right away. It's like around 2010 all studios decided to rename Easy to Normal and Normal to Hard.

I really like Stellar Blade, I own it on both PS5 and PC and have played it like 5 times. If you're worried about >le coomer game it is WAY less lewd that Bayonetta. The only times you get "those angles" are when Eve is doing a finishing move or saving herself from a massive fall. Its a good game with a great soundtrack.
I'm on what looks like the second area out of six areas in Pragmata. The story hasn't revealed much outside of "the AI went crazy" but in terms of gameplay I am having a blast and Diana/Hugh are really cute together. This is something I hated about Rev2. Look I'm a Democrat but I own guns and one of the first things you get taught about guns is to NOT LEAVE THEM UNSECURED. Most of mine are in a safe but I have one in my nightstand unloaded, with the magazine next to it and a trigger guard installed at all times. nta but i feel like that was just a shitty concession after the flashback showed moira blasting her with a .45 point blank dead on

capcom knew it was ass too because they pretended rev 2 didnt exist ever since aside from alex being a playable character in re:sistance while still referencing rev 1 in mainline titles

My dad sometimes left his duty gun sitting around after a long day for a little bit before he locked it up, but I was taught how to use guns basically since I could walk. I fired my first pistol when I was 3. My sister and I were always very well educated about firearms, firearm safety, and how dangerous they could be. We never treated them like toys even when I was very young. She nor I ever tried to go play around with his guns.
I did get into my mom's pepper spray once though because I didn't know what it was and accidentally sprayed myself.
It's something that comes across at least to me as purposefully trying to paint Barry specifically in a bad light, especially with the focus placed on how angry Barry had been with Moira for shooting Polly.

Wow! So T was the best after all...sorry Birkin, Alexia...
Man it really is funny how in the context of all of this, if all the research done on T and vaccines for it in Raccoon never got destroyed, Spencer's ambitions for creating a world of pseudo-immortal supermen actually would have come true.

Immortality was Spencer’s main thing, but the whole point was to reap Progenitor’s full benefits without dying, essentially Wesker on steroids. Mind you, there’s no one that’s wholesale immortal in the franchise yet, Jill she’s slowly but we don’t actually know if she’s truly immortal or just has longevity. Ironically, the Mold is probably the closest we’ve gotten.

Yes it was probably me I really like Stellar Blade and hate how it's been known as the Coomer Game even though it is extremely tame.
My biggest issue with it is that it appeared to be marketed as a Devil May Cry-like game in terms of CUH-RAY-ZEE combos, but in reality it's about using perfect parries/perfect dodges to build up your Burst and Beta gauges to rotate through Burst/Beta/Tachy combat for massive damage. So a lot of combat is just baiting out attacks rather than huge juggling combos.
>>
>>
>>563900423
It is, at least it was the original goal of Spencer, Marcus and Alexander who wanted to synthesize Progenitor into a form that could be used on anyone instead of killing most people exposed to it. But over time their ambitions warped them, and Spender became mad with delusions of grandeur, and also became a totally paranoid schizo. It's part of why RE9's whitewashing felt so bizarre. He already had an established good-intentions-road-to-hell story arc, so just retreading that but in a completely retarded way felt redundant to me.
Wesker just inherited Spencer's ambition but put his own spin on it because he didn't care how many people died as long as le chosen few survived for him to rule over.

playing sh2r for the second time, am i the only one who thinks the music is WAY too quiet here? like, the music would always steal the show in the original 4 games, specially 2 but here i had to meddle with the sound settings so that music would come on top and it's STILL too quiet

>capcom knew it was ass too because they pretended rev 2 didnt exist ever since
Rev games are practically side titles even if Capcom claims otherwise. The only oher time Rev1 is referenced is in Rev2 itself. Between this and RE7 taking the series in a different direction, Revelations games just never were going to be relevant.

>Wesker testing every parasite and virus on her body to see how her antibodies reacted?
IIRC the only thing injected on Jill was that device that made her super powered. Otherwise the only thing done to her was using her antibodies on Uroboros to make it more stable.
