>WHAT IS HELLDIVERS 2?
HELLDIVERS 2 is a 2024 crossplay, co-op, squad-based, PvE 3rd person shooter for PC, PS5 and XBox Series X/S where players fight against hordes of alien insects, robots and squids to Spread Democracy™. Players wage war on contested planets, each with a different biome, completing as many objectives as possible in a procedurally generated level while constrained by a time limit. With enough successful missions, a planet can be defended or liberated, and the player base must combine their efforts as much as possible to Liberate™ the galaxy.

>WHAT ABOUT THE FIRST HELLDIVERS GAME?
Released in 2015 for PC, PS3/4 and PS Vita, the original HELLDIVERS is a shared screen top-down shooter in the same setting. Its mechanics were based primarily on Arrowhead's first game, Magicka.

maybe the armors will improve stratagem armor durability to fix the blanket nerf everything got, so the devs can sell you a solution to a problem they created

I kind of wonder though, what kind of situation would you need this exosuit for? 90% of bugs don't even have projectile attacks so the only thing you would really be useful for is maybe stopping Chargers in their tracks and saving teammates from Bile Titan attacks. Squids generally aren't even a threat so the shield would have minimal utility on that front. And bots throw shitloads of projectiles at you but unless the shield is specially designed to resist explosive ordnance it's not going to last for long the moment a Rocket Devastator enters your general area.
>>
>>
>>563807948
>unless the shield is specially designed to resist explosive ordnance
oh god you're right, they're going to botch the implementation and any explosive that hits it is going to clip through and hit the arm or the leg behind it. they'd have to make every part behind the shield explosive immune if they want this thing to actually work the way people would expect it to

Wasn't it actively bugged to never stop spawning overseers?
I remember being called in once and dying before i could move because of the amount of projectiles flying around, not to mention the framehits

>>
>>563812723
I don't know of it's bugged or not to never stop spawning overseers for certain. I ran a few missions of repel invasion on an Agitator planet (no spawn adjustsments) with pubs and it worked fine in the sense that nothing crashed. But the landed ships would only spawn overseers and elevated overseers, and faster than we could kill them, so they would get to critical mass pretty quick.
The few times I loaded the mission on a Mindless Masses planet it would just crash as soon as the first warpship landed and opened it's doors. That was with swapping all spawns to voteless, so there might be some fuckery there, have to try vanilla to be sure.
But replacing everything with voteless on a normal squid planet seems to work fine. I can even increase the reserve count of the squid warp ships, though 50 does seem like a good number.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>

I really wonder what the story is. I saw someone else here theorize that they were almost complete for release, and then when they did release the game they moved the people who made them to a different project or fired them, and then no one who was left was competent enough to understand how to complete it. It kinda makes sense when you look at how half-assed most of the post-release content they've made for the game has been, and how much of it they outsourced.

It could just be their retarded flat management. People wanted to work on the cool cultists, but didn't want to work on the other more boring factions or work on the annoying last 10% of the cultists, so they went on pre-vacation instead.

Elevator pitching ideas for alternate/additional enemy faction concepts is always a decent little time passer as topic subjects go. You are given the power to expand the enemy faction roster out with an idea of your own imagining, tell us what you'd make.

I did the Repel Invasion Fleet mission on the Mindless masses planet too, and I also tried swapping enemies. Swapping anything would ALWAYS crash. It's interesting you say the Repel mission on an Appropriator planet only spawned overseers because the Repel mission on Mindless Masses spawned voteless, overseers, crescent overseers, and harvesters. But never fleshmobs or elevated overseers.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>563815385
Agitator repel invasion fleet didn't spawn only overseers, sorry, I should have clarified. Harvesters, orbtruders, and squid mechs would also spawn from the ships that didn't land and just beam troops down. It's just that the landed ships spawned only overseers and would do so in such quantities (like your webm) that I think spawn caps were reached.
Vanilla Mindless Masses not spawning elevated overseers sounds normal to me, but no fleshmobs is weird.

Same, i don't get it how other anons just rush through massive battlefield, stay alive and get 50+ kills with a single hellbomb.
If I do that, I get instantly killed or my hellbomb manages to kill 3 chaff enemies.

Let me guess - you "need" more out of a primary?

Devastator sniper
>spawns out of a small POI like a stalker
>Invisible like a stalker until about 20 meters away
>Has a railgun as its sniper, does 400 damage so it rapes player and sort of rapes vehicles
>Super visible and obvious red laser aimed at one players head with about 3 seconds of time for the player to break line of sight.
>Will move after every shot and try to flee from combat.
I think this would be the perfect balance of neat and annoying that arrowhead wishes they could have for new enemies. Knowing them it would be bugged for months, only target the host, and fire immediately with no warning.
>>
>>
>>563816319
First off, it lies about how many kills that it scores. Those 50 kills are more like 20 tops. Secondly you can just spam the fuck out of stims to brute force making it to the target. In a best case scenario it's good to drop it on the ground and survive the attack, but any objective worth blowing up with a hellbomb is worth spending 1 reinforcement on. It's a big waste to use them against regular enemies though. They're better suited for knocking out jammers/detector towers/gunship fabs. They'd be more useful on the other fronts if other faction objectives were as robust as the bot ones.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>563814329
>Jet Strider
Due to the space requirement of the jetpack, it loses the ability to fire grenades and its main guns are replaced with miniguns you'd see on the VE or FS. Unlike other jet brigade units, this one can hover in the air and do strafing runs.
If its main guns are destroyed, it will actively try to squash helldivers via death from above landing.
>Flame tank
Replaces the shredder tank. Basically like the flame tank from C&C Tib Dawn.
>Stalker Wasp
Medium sized flying unit. Will pick up helldivers and drop them from high altitudes in place of the ragdoll attack that stalkers normally use.
>>
>>563816847
I'm not a fan of using it like that. I feel like teams that shit the bed and let things start snowballing never learn their lessons and routinely fuck things up. Your efforts to stop the snowball with a hellbomb are going to place you offbalance by at best wasting some stims as you extend into the heart of the enemy formation to plant the bomb, or at worst result in your death. Now you need to retrieve your support weapons. You're at the whim of your teammates calling you in quick enough to retrieve your gear before the enemy regroups, which is a big ask if they've been letting things get out of control in the first place.

For some weird ass reason sentries always do that on defense. No idea why. But yeah they 100% coded sentries to randomly kill you when theres stuff happening. I know this because I've never been set on fire by the flame sentry by it randomly flicking targets.
>>
>>563817604
I still maintain that 95% of the time sentries placed within 40m of a teammate are poorly placed. The remaining 5% is when it's placed with exceptional care so that its line of fire cannot strike a helldiver.

entirely depends on what you expect out of your primary weapon
by 'all around' I'd assume you'd want weapon that can handle both chaff and medium~heavies in a pinch with acceptable ergonomics; in which case your options are the medpen ARs realistically.
other alternative medpen weapons also exist but they generally tilt more towards 'anti-medium' rather than 'anti chaff', along with generally worse ergo/ammo/etc that gives them such properties, so there's that factor to consider.

works on every faction and requires no skill, just point at the center mass of an enemy and shoot.
drum mags + siege ready and you will never run out of ammo too.
>>
>>563818819
I dunno man. The blitzer definitely sucks but the PP is a good weapon. Weakest on the bugs because everything that's not a scavenger or hunter takes more than one shot and you can't leverage the aoe much. It does very well on bots and squids though, especially since it's an explosive weapon and ignores heavy dev shields/oversaar armor and shields.

Bots/Borgs:
Eruptor
Illuminate:
Scorcher/Purifier
Bugs:
Coyote
All of these weapons can be used against the other factions listed, and well at that, but this helps me keep some flavor to my gameplay. You can try running AP2 or some of the other gimmick weapons, however they are not only inferior, but also less fun.

What happens here?
>>
So what happens to helldivers that fail to extract and get left behind? Do they get killed on the spot like traitors or are they just left to fend for themselves until eventually they die? I wonder how long you could feasibly survive after extraction, especially if you have survival knowledge.
>>
>>563814329
>Space pirates.
Literally extract them right out of how they are from Metroid at the concept art level up.
>Dissident rebellion,
>Generic goodguy space nation.
>Equally gonzo fascist empire like super earth.
>Actual super earth splinter civilization that was lost and now found. Two Super earth can't co-exist and must fight.
All these slot into the same broad pallet of playing against an army of other generic space army guys WHICH IS NOT THE SAME AS THE TERMINATOR VIBE BOTS HAVE GOING ON.
>Eldritch incursion.
Thoroughly showcased by Warhammer's chaos, lots of lovecraft sprinkled in.
>Primitives.
Tribal warrors with scavenged laser guns. The lizardmen riding dinosaursfold into this. Others have detailed it already and these threads are the same 40 or so people repeating the same opinions anyway so you already know what this entails.
>Dogmatic alien empire
Covenant. It's just the Halo Covenant. Fanatical adherants to an alien religion in an empire of oriental despotism. Arguably overlaps a lot with the "Equally gonzo fascist empire" category from earlier but the alien-ness keeps doors open for it being aesthetically different.

Ultimatum-chan. But I disagree with the artists design. Ultimatum is small, yes, so she is correctly short, but the Ultimatum is also powerful and makes a big boom (and also cannot be launched far), so therefore she should be stacked, too. A shortstack, if you will.

Anons often mentioned stomping scavengers, but you cannot stomp a bile spitter, even though they are even weaker and more fragile. Because if you did your body would be splattered with acid and melted like that nazi from Indiana Jones. Your only option would be to shoot it or kill it with a very long stick or something so you can avoid it's lethal acid burst upon death.

I welcome the Steam Machine because if it sees wider adoption from consolefags who want a brainless solution, it means this game will have to be optimized for it.

The end point of melee in this game as to have a melee items slot. Stuff like typical knife, stabbn & throwing variants would soon get powercrept by the arrivals of utility tools that do stuff other then melee because melee isn’t a meme.

I feel like AH are too steadfast in keeping systems as they are for a change like that to happen. They seem very much okay with the idea of troll picks as well, so I don't think they have any problem with a dinky 200 med pen damage hitting stick competing with a 3000 damage ap6 portable nuke.

It makes sense if they were designed properly as a "fuck everything in this area" kind of strat. Actual 380mm shells are literally what battleships fired. A full salvo of 15 of them should completely level an area but they are essentially just a slightly bigger precision strike because nordcels can't into military

You mean you want taking fortified positions in the city to actually mean something other than an arbitrary liberation bonus? Sorry chud. Thats space magic and not in like with our satirical grunt fantasy.
>>
>>563838004
Ideally they should be exploding before impact and have a way bigger impact area. The fact that we had this technology in the 1940s but future earth is just letting them slam into the ground is retarded. But that's nordcels for you
>>
>>
>>563838132
Seriously though wouldn't a flat 0.5% or 1% SEAF bonus on that planet (like SEAF is set up and deploying from the city) per city make way more sense?
That seems like the most straightforward easy change

You don't need to change the ammo. You just have the fuse set to detonate before it hits the ground with a proximity sensor. This technology is like a century old

>Sweeper has zero stagger but it's accurate, long reload, medium pen so you can tickle hive guards and bile spewers 20m away even with full choke
>need to be an accurate shot at close range to one shot hunters under pressure, can't let preds get close at all because if you miss a headshot you're eating a swipe
>M90A has both insane stagger and pushback, short reload but low reserves, light pen so you can't even take out bile spewers farther than 5m with one shot, hive guards require too many shots to be worthwhile at range and it's better to just run closer
>don't need to be accurate at close range against packs of hunters because the spread will stagger multiple at once, rushing preds are no problem at all because the stagger guarantees at most a 2-shot kill by lining up a headshot after the initial
>Trident has zero stagger but it's somewhat accurate, infinite ammo, infinite range, negligible recoil, light pen but it doesn't matter because it's accurate enough to hit hive guard and bile spewer weakpoints at long range
>only gets better at close range, pred stalkers are a 2 shot kill at most with some headshots and lmao hunters
>shrieker, pouncer, scav melting machine with infinite ammo
>allows for full situational awareness because you can hipfire away while seeing any shit creeping up behind you
It's insane how much better the Trident is over all other options. You cannot lose the game if you take this gun and personally i'm here for it because it's very fun to use. They will never make a better weapon than this and if anything will probably nerf it in the future.

I like fighting squids. those fucking appropriators kind of fuck though. the big mech dudes are a pain to kill in time. anti tank feels overkill but med pen feels a little slow. Heavy pen would be nice but theres no solid heavy pen rapid fire. I'd say Eruptor, technically, but that's too slow and explosive does fuck all.

>>563814329
The Rootmind, or "The weeds", a faction that's quite literally a galactic outbreak of extremely hostile semi-sentient plantd that operate as a total hivemind.
Designed to feel like you're fighting one colossal enemy instead of an army. Units are split into stationary ones that straight-up sprout out of the ground, and mobile elite units that are closer to discarded vehicles and corpses puppeted by vines and roots.
