The more I think about it, Melty blood was probably supposed to be like "hot blooded" or "boiling blood", but Nasu doesn't know English.
I always assumed the "stay night" part was just supposed to mean "stay the night" and he wanted something less wordy (or again, doesn't know English), but I honestly can't think of any decisive moment in the story that immediately refers to (but maybe it's just been too long since I've read it idk)

Samurai Remnant is an FGO spinoff in a lot of ways.

It's absolutely its own thing but everything holds a bit more weight if you've played FGO.

Iori as a character holds a bit more initial weight at the start as the idea of him interacting with FGOs Musashi is interesting. Most of the new servants are referential to FGO material primarily (Rogue Saber with Tomoe Gozen, Takeru with Ibuki Douji etc.). Ushi-Gozen especially holds a lot more weight if you're hit with it after knowing her from FGO.
