Abjuration wizard is pretty great. You can't die and you have access to every spell so the fights never get old. Too many builds have you just spamming the same attack over and over. Even with Sorc you're usually tossing out a twinned haste or spamming fire spells if you're going for the acuity build

You're not even playing the game at that point. All those systems to engage with. Yet you can ignore them all and blow up barrels. What's even the point to those systems at that point? Barrelmancy users always seem to me people who don't like playing roleplaying games and just want a quick dopamine rush. People who would be better off playing in a completely different genre of game. Developing anything for this type in the long run is just degrading the genre further.

First we have the cutscene movie faggots who, thanks to Bioware, got much of C&C (if not all) reduced entirely to dialogue options. Soon if Larian continues, it's going to be cutscene movie faggot games where all the rpg elements are nothing but window dressing to be bypassed entirely with barrelmancy. Who cares about builds and stats when all you have to do is stack enough barrels and auto-win? Allowing players to completely bypass the basic gameplay loop is retarded and absolute garbage game design. Pure degeneration in game design.

On top of that it exposes the lack of reactivity from NPCs and how oversold that aspect was. Who cares about ending variations? The gameplay itself is lacking reactivity where it matters most. NPCs do not react to you moving barrels of explosives next to them. They just stand there doing nothing.

Aid and Freedom of Movement are part of the fundamental gameplay loop whereas barrelmancy isn't. Freedom of movement, aid, and other prebuffs do not break the game. Aid just gives you more HP only allowing you to fight longer. Freedom of movement just protects you from a specific mechanic. You still have to engage with most if not all the mechanics in the game. Whereas with barrelmancy you don't. Barrelmancy just turns into large instances of damage that that just end fights without engaging with any of the basic mechanics in the game.
