Not really, but if you're a pure newfag that didn't go past 3* in oldgen it's a good way to learn how to play
You can get to HR5 solo with bots, at that point you can craft an armor set that let you survive oneshots as long you have 50? HP
People in the clan don't really care if you cart
Lance/gunlance is pretty safe to play thanks to guard+2 but you'll have to learn how to iframe between attacks, just pick what weapon you think is more fun
do you need an invite?
>>
>>2224184
This game more or less removes a lot of the resource management so at the least it's easy to just hop in and practice the monsters.
For progression, Lance/GL are both pretty easy to use and very strong at the start. LBG or SnS are otherwise also pretty simple and are definitely the easier weapons to gear for in the later parts of the game.
>>
>>
>>2224184
If you're worried about dying and you're new and doing hr5 and 6 stuff, just use a halk pot or one of the daily bonuses (the netcafe one or the pause menu ones). Nobody minds if it's for trash quests or early monsters like that.

You check ferias for the G decos because they won't appear in the crafting list unless you already have the mats, and once you're out of mats they disappear from the list. Yes it's retarded. There's also quests for some of these

Partner armor only gives them flat defense based upon the tier of the armor. Giving them any Z1 armor maxes it out so you have a choice of pretty much any zenith monster or road set in terms of cosmetics.

Reflect does damage on block, if Lance daily is active then you get Reflect+3 for free which is likely what is happening.

Early road, about 10k with floor 10 runs. I won't be on for a while so I can't help with that right now, ask in clan chat if anyone is up for a few runs. You can also try with randoms, if you don't mind gambling between noobs and absolute carrymen

can some anon with moonrunes knowledge help me find gl's shell/wf motion values and the damage scaling from weapon's raw formula?
all of the english resources don't have them (same as GU, I hate when fags do half-assed jobs)
also the gunlancer g deco has focus on it but the aformentioned sources don't list any synergy with gunlance so I'm trying to search for this as well (at the very least I can actually test it in-game to see if it reduces wf/storm style shells charge speed)
I wish I could just use the damage numbers mod but the added raw scaling fucks with the results and without the formula it's pretty much pointless
>>
>>2227895
I don't have the information you're looking for
however I can tell you that zero gunlance players focus on shelling in endgame; there's too many raw boosters in endgame frontier sets to do anything but use reflect and physical attacks

It's been forever since I played gen2 MH, but I don't remember the hitstop and blood splatter differences on mid hitzone (not weakspot or bounce zone) are this harder to notice than GU, most of the time I'm not sure if I'm hitting 30 HZ or 20 HZ.

CC is the biggest damage increase when your crit isn't at 100%. It gives you 30% just for having the skill active.
When your crit is above 100% it functions like a logarithmic curve, rounding out at about 60-70 raw with massively diminishing returns.

Road past floor 10 has zenith monsters from z1 to z4, you need not only damage but also knowledge of every zenith monster. We're not getting to floor 50 just yet with a clan only run
>>2234115
You can start with a good g rank set, then you'll want korinyi armor to avoid being unable to move for 90% of the fight as you learn zenith mons
>>
>>2234115
You can start doing road as soon as you get your Korinyi Z set, pretty much. I think the best thing to get right after Korinyi Z armor is a tower weapon. They’re incredible. There’s a great google doc on what kind to make for your weapon type.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_KeSuA1OHgJFBQxZ3eF9eBTaSXVqzIv4jv 5t7usjCRE/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.3w bj74cjewon
The only big caveat to tower weapons is that they don’t have Z partbreaker. So you can’t use them to break zenith monster parts for specific part drops.
>>
File: akura vashimu.png (708.9 KB)
708.9 KB PNG
Two other really important things to do right after getting your Korinyi Z armor set:
>max out your GSR
If you use a daily bonus and then a login bonus, you can get a 25x multiplier for GR and GSR gains. GSR = G Skill Rank, and it’s a per-weapon value to level up. You can raise it incredibly quickly via the Shogun Ceanataur G rank event quest, set it to HC (Hardcore) as well for even more gains. Getting GSR to 800 gives you a Passive Master SR skill to equip, which prevents you from ever being knocked away on your back.
>my missions
There’s a quest to search for at the regular quest counter, it’s called Tokyo-3 Defense. All the quest is is a fight with a high rank HC Rukodiora. By completing it, you get a fuckload of gacha tickets, somewhere between 48 and 96 with a large lucky charm or super lucky charm in your inventory. You trade those gacha tickets in at the combo shop for my mission tickets in the special combine menu. This is by far the best way to raise My Mission level in the game, and I really do suggest raising it as much as you can since the damage cap gets annoying without it. You get % damage reduction as well, which is useful everywhere in endgame.

in G-rank you get access to Three Worlds (super earplugs/tremor/wind res) very easily on about half of all sets.
In Z progression you can keep using it, but Zeniths and some other monsters have attacks that go beyond the level of resistance Three Worlds provides. So you have to either waste MORE set space on a Z-skill that raises your resistance to one of those even further or get good at dodging/parrying super roar/tremor/wind.
In the ultra lategame you are expected to be able to respond to all those threats so Three Worlds will be out of all your sets, because more damage means fewer threats to contend with over the course of a fight. On the plus side you will have Hiden which gives super earplugs for free, so you have the option of Z-skilling in Z earplugs if you really are struggling with roars.

Couple of us are farming zeniths, some are going through G rank and I believe there's still a couple anons in HR. If you want to bumrush, it won't be long to catch up. If not you can always ask others to gear down and join your quests.

There is no Guts in endgame sets because of Determination and ZP armor.
>Determination
Best damage skill in the franchise history, so giving it up is horrible. It cuts your hunt times in half. It also specifically disables Guts/moxie anything like that.
>ZP armor
Premium armor that grants stacking percentage damage reduction per piece. At four or five pieces lets you survive annoying combos like Z Plesioth's double hipcheck, but not being trapped in a bubble.
Most of the large threats with Zenith monsters will go through Guts regardless. Z4 Anorupatisu oneshot, Gasura combos and instakills and z poison, Ruko beams, Hypnoc dream eater, Z4 Gravios oneshot, aforementioned plesi bubbles, you name it. So losing Guts isn't that big of a deal in the end.
>>2239707
You can also just slot magnetic res in an existing set, which just takes two gemslots.

Reposting Korinyi armor deco setup for newcomers. This should be one of your first priorities after getting to GR 200. You get this armor from the Z1 Midogaron quest Hunt the Wolf, Black Rabbit. You'll have to do a Z1 Rathalos for shells to make the armor as well. On top of that, you'll need a zenith weapon to even take the aforementioned Z1 Midogaron quest, but it's quite easy to make one because of the Anti-Zenith Weapon Research quest.

Korinyi Z Head (the gunner headpiece) is slightly better for blademasters since you lose 40 defense and hearing protection up for skill slots up+1, so you can fit more damage on the set.
use Head if you are making your own starter set, go with Band if you're sticking to that set or need the giga earplugs

A single deco costs 50 festival gems, with everything we did I barely got 10 which is enough for one single quest to get the other mats (the 10 gems get used by those quests). If I can get more now that we won that'd be nice. I need 9 festi decos, 50 festi gems is 25k rdp. I believe winner quests only use 5 festi gems instead of 10 for the mats, so that's 2500 points instead of 5k for one festi quest, I need 4 or 5. Tell me we get awarded festival gemsplease

I had lots of fun early game, but is good positioning practically dead for late game? Seems like the only way to avoid 80% of monster attacks is to iframe it, so all you have to learn is the timing when an explosion gonna happen, it's starting to feel like a soulslop and gets really stale.
>>
>>
>>2255873
Positioning matters a lot, both for optimal punishes and for surviving. I don't know the musous but I can talk about the zeniths
>Dora
Almost everything hits everywhere, but you shouldn't be hitting ANYTHING but his head so consistently targeting it and punishing it is a huge part of the fight
>Torid
Same as above, his head is always surrounded by his wings which are horrible shitboxes and positioning so you aren't punished by his ultra insta death beam (which gives a fat punish window) is incredibly important. His grab attack is notoriously hard to pure iframe so you need to do a mix of getting out of the ultra wide hitbox by dodging backwards, not to the sides.
>Baru
Arguably the most important zenith in terms of positioning. You can choose to stay in front of his head which is the most vulnerable part if you can consistently parry his hard to react to moves, but this can get you very easily killed when he does things quickly. If you stay to his sides (or in the case of tonfas over his back) you can repeatedly bait out his tongue swirl attack which gives you a good opening.
>Gasura
If you don't position correctly in this fight you will just die straight up without warning.
In short learning the iframe/parry timings is just the barrier to entry for endgame fights. You become good at the fights after you know all of these AND utilize positioning correctly.

Also, where do I find the mats for non-monster Zenith weapons? I like how simple they look compared to most of the overdesigned monster weapons.
>>
>>2256314
Forgot to mention decos will still be used, though you'll move away from them too at some point for musou and ravi decos. Festi decos too are widely used
>mats for non-monster zenith weapons
Some of them are from event quests that aren't available on renewal like the emperor of summer sns, rest are from winner quests like chroma and poet weapons. You'll still need zenith mons parts to upgrade them

>Which monster is a good source of generalist Zenith weapon?
Espinas weapons with the Abnormality skill from this set >>2242759 is basically your best option for general use, since poison with Abnormality is so strong against zeniths. Otherwise, the Poet, Chroma and Ruber weapons from the winner quest cat next to the festival girl. Poet weapon quest is z1 Taikun, Chroma is z1 Doragyurosu, and Ruber is z1 Tigrex.
Later, the big netcafe weapons upgrade to be zenith weapons and have Z partbreaker, such as Galatine (SnS) and Dainsleif (DBs). You need to get to road floor 50 to really be able to get them though, since you can buy their materials with road points if you do that. Otherwise you're stuck with using N points to get them, which sucks since it'll take weeks. It's just faster to get gud at road and get enough road skill upgrades to have 55+ res in every element. If you are planning to do road, I'd suggest getting a tower weapon first, since they're some of the best weapons in the game. See >>2234276 for a guide on that

Attention grabbing picture. We need a new clan for clan poogies, they grant various buffs depending on their clothes when you feed them. Only the clan leader can change the poogie clothes and he's fucking dead. So we need a new clan with a leader who is regularly online. We should discuss that in game at a set time, I'm too retarded with time zones so answer to this post with what you think would be the best time, and day.

Just leave the original clan (Clan menu > Manage > Press X/Square > Leave) and get someone else to invite you by walking up to you. That's what we all did earlier.

All the mats for the stamina and damage reduction poogie clothes are in the clan box. Nu glorious leader, please craft and equip the poogies with them. I didn't craft mats for a third piece of clothes as I didn't know which one to choose. Status attack might be worth it. Check ferias for effects

Just studying Raviente a bit from youtube videos, seems the best thing to do in phase 5 is to ignore climbing up him after the coil. Instead, just hit his chin as he charges up the fireball.

Not required at all, as far as I know. Also apparently one of the better ways to farm divine power gems for the ravi weapons is to just spam phase 1 of Extreme Berserk Ravi over and over. It doesn’t take long, and you get 4x 850 divine power gem stacks from it. Apparently you can also buy stacks of 200k divine power gems in the road shop too.
It only takes about 500k divine power gems to max out a ravi weapon.

I was thinking about this after we lost yesterday
the first quest goes by pretty quickly compared to the absolute slog that is the rest

The crystal is important to break if you don’t have Adaptation, the armor skill. Without breaking the crystal, his entire body is a shitzone. Adaptation just lets you ignore the crystal entirely, regardless of weapon. The zenith armor skill Adaptation Up is very nice to have for that reason. There’s a skill cuff for it, as well as cuffs that give points for Adaptation.
>>
>>2273597
Buy the skill cuff Adaptation Up PZ4 from the road shop and some decos to gem it in easily. According to Ferias, the easiest by far is the Chatore GN GX1 or GX5 decos, you only need two of those with the cuff. Red Khezu BM GX4 decos are also a poverty option, you need three of those with the Adaptation skill cuff.

The gimmick for it is that you have to have someone else revive you, otherwise your health drains until you cart. Just bring 55+ thunder res. Make all res or thunder res food in the clan hall, bring the all res and/or thunder res SR skills if necessary too
>>
>>
>>2274744
20 is for normal blights only which are almost non existant in this game aside from exotics and a handful of others like elzelion. All Z blights get negated at 55 resistance, that's why it's important to have them all at 55 in road. The only one that isn't a huge threat is water

Great Raviente guide here.
>Raviente takes less damage to types dealt to it (i.e. if your group had 4 DS users it will very quickly take massively reduced damage from Cutting leading to lower chances of breaks.) and as such ideally teams will want 1x Ranged, 1x Cutting, 1x Impact and 1x Hunting Horn even outside of meta.
This is why Adaptation is important, aside from bowgun compressed thunder shot spam runs.

You're underestimating MMO with their retarded difficulty, comparing it to piss easy nu-MH. It's far easier now that you can just look up online what you need to prepare and do, but it's not that rare in old MMOs where new superbosses taking a while for the community to clear.
>>
>>
>>2281835
>comparing it to piss easy nu-MH
never did such thing
this game is just monster hunter but 70% of the content is so form of "endgame superboss" as you like to call it
it's perfectly safe to assume a team of 4 players (the intended amount) with a great deal of knowledge about the game, making proper use of game mechanics, is capable of clearing a monster whitin a day or two of its release despite incredibly bloated stats and new moves
>>
>>
>>2281846
Well, we play on Renewal, and it’s pretty damn easy to get all the transmog tickets you want. There’s a daily quest for transmog gacha coins, and a G urgent that gives a fuckload of them. Along with other custom quests that give guaranteed tickets and the road point shop has tickets too.

For all the freetards out there, I have found a way to play MHF without leaving the cult and going back to Windows:
>run `wine control` in your MHF prefix
>click Internet Settings
>set the homepage to http://mhf-g.com/launcher/en and click ok
This fixes the 403 error in the launcher.
>run `winetricks cjkfonts` in your MHF prefix
This fixes the corrupted Latin alphabet in game.
>install DXVK to the same folder as mhf.exe
Someone said you needed winetricks to make it work with WineD3D, find that post if your GPU doesn't support Vulkan, otherwise just use DXVK.
>play the game
Works on wine-staging 11.4. I haven't tried other forks or versions and I haven't tried WineD3D.
If you don't know how to run things in your WINE prefix that's because you don't know how to use WINE, read the manual.
IF you have the following issues:
>some crash complaining about "sigaltstack" in the launcher
>issues with buttons doing nothing in the launcher
That's because you're running musl. WINE doesn't work on musl. It compiles on musl but it's written by jeets who program by trial and error and no WINE developer is doing trial and error on musl and fixing the WINE bugs there. You're running into WINE bugs, use a glibc chroot or something.
Now if anyone can figure those out that would be great:
>forcing supersampling into the game
You can force MSAA with dxwrapper then turn it into supersampling in dxvk's config file, but it causes issues with the depth buffer and makes some textures go invisible because the game uses deferred rendering on DirectX 9. On Windows you can enable some Nvidia Inspector compatibility bits to fix it, so maybe there's a hack to fix it on Linux too.
>injecting frame generation
MHF has a 30fps cap, putting frame generation on it would maybe be nice.

Clan poogie clothes. Turns out when you change a poogie's outfit, the previous one is lost forever and needs to be crafted again if you want it back. Small bones are used for appropriate parts, it's the only mat we can't buy with gcp for outfit mats

Mats for tuxedo and stamina clothes are in the clan box. Our supreme leader will take care of it. Just don't replace what Sir is wearing right now, it's the defense skill outfit, replace the other two and then rename if you want the one with tuxedo to be called Sir, that'll save the trouble of getting more mats
>>
I was wrong about adaptation+2 not making a difference on partner for ravi, it makes every phase at least a minute faster, from ~5mn30 to roughly 4 minutes. Last phase lasted 6mn30. With MS you can surely cut those times in half

This is just sad. Red team has no players, so we just win by default. I wonder if our old guild having 40+ inactives contributed to red team getting cucked like this. At least we're on blue.

I believe teams get reset before the new festival each month. So old cartmasters probably isn't responsible. We may be on the unlucky side next festi since teams are randomly assigned with no regard for balance. But next festi I'll be able to play like a sweaty tryhard, we will bath in souls no matter our team

You cart a lot. Some of them can be completed with guts for the extra safety but others have a time limit so tight you need solid determination to deal enough damage before timing out. That's assuming solo. A full party can most likely do them all with guts.
>>
>>
Musous and shiten only come in 20 and 10 minute quests. The musous often don't deal that much damage so you can survive the non-multihit attacks, but pretty much everything in shiten and upper shiten is a oneshot (even with conquest defense), so you probably want guts for shiten, at least for practice.

Probably the most optimal carving route is this, I've been doing it the past few times we did Ravi. I think the main limiting factor when crafting G Ravi armor to convert into Ravi decos is spikes and wings. Wings are from the B zones and spikes are from the C zones.
