When you mine iron ore you make a profit and gain mining xp. If you were to buy iron ore and or coal and make steel bars you'd profit. It does not change what the optimal means of production is for steel bars. Considering one iron ore sells for more than two coal BF is likely a worse option than regular smelting due to the reduction in cost being so low it doesn't outperform the increase of production of superheat or even regular smelting.

Vidyascape preserved the concept of a different game entirely (Runescape 2) by building their own interpretation of it from the ground up. Runescape 2 was abandoned by Jagex as they viewed it as profitless so Vidyascape developers preserved the lost media entirely for free as an independent passion project strictly for a niche group of devoted fans of the lost media. You can't prove this beyond a reasonable doubt because the code is closed source. From my perspective it's extremely obvious that Pickles is an extremely talented developer that has the capacity to recreate 2007 Runescape 2 using skill alone. It was not a complex game even for its time and its graphics are quite simple. he did not use any jagex intellectual property, unless you count a portion of the graphical assets used in the game, but those can be downloaded for free here and many, many other places so that's not the issue:

i directly asked him once if jagex ever had a source code leak and they did not. so it's not even possible to create a mouse pointer based MMO using stolen jagex code. i actually believe that vplace is based in part on 09place (fixed it for them) due to one time, vplace's admin command help screens were not permissioned, so i probed the catalogue trying to determine exactly what powers the admins had:

in general, the vplace admins are reasonably forthcoming with tech info about their project, provided you're genuinely curious and not likely to be a malicious actor. the whole drama is that jagex used a fake court (europe doesn't even use the same legal system as the commonwealth) to illegally steal american property based on a fake and mentally retarded claim that they exclusively own words like landscape, hardscape, moonscape, possibly even garlic scape, etc.
