HH once again samefagging himself to make himself relevant due to his narcissist craving for attention. Nobody cared when he incessantly shilled the QUITPILL then came back with his head hung in shame when nobody followed him. I love HH each passing day. His existence makes furry fags on the server SEETHE and SELF DESTRUCT and it is GLORIOUS. Reminder he solo'd Best, Wew, and the Estonians in the latest PKing FFA event, making him the best PKer on the server by far.

>>2432946 If you have all the iron and coal, you're better off doing 9 bars at a time in edge. Superheating is stupid. Making steel at blast is kinda tedious and mediocre, so only do it if u have a hateboner for mining
>>2432946 When you mine iron ore you make a profit and gain mining xp. If you were to buy iron ore and or coal and make steel bars you'd profit. It does not change what the optimal means of production is for steel bars. Considering one iron ore sells for more than two coal BF is likely a worse option than regular smelting due to the reduction in cost being so low it doesn't outperform the increase of production of superheat or even regular smelting. >>2432946 How much are you plugging a steel bar at? https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Steel_bar#Creation 3ticks a cast you'd easily pay for the nature rune by outproducing. >>2452390 It's gone, the domain was seized under UDRP arbitration. If you read the report it was a law firm on Jagex's behalf. The boomers at the arbitration board think it's similar enough to cause economic harm to Jagex (as if vidyascapers are paying money for anything lol).
>>2452540 >look into it >https://udrp.adr.eu/decisions/detail?id=699c32ddac085d8f860f49d2 I hope you're not serious but that would explain why the website is gone. Still, how can having "-scape" in the name be enough to seize everything without warning? If true I hope the godmods have a backup and call it vidyascaype with a really tiny "y" out of spite.
>>2452647 They mention economic harm outright, at the end of the day money talks. >corresponds to using the disputed domain name to intentionally attract, for commercial gain, Internet users to its website by creating a likelihood of confusion with the Complainant’s trade marks as to the source, sponsorship, affiliation or endorsement of the website under paragraph 4(b)(iv) of the Policy and it shows the registration and use of the disputed domain name in bad faith It's more than -scape, they call out the use of RS assets >the Panel finds that there is evidence that the Respondent had at the least copied various elements from the Complainant's Old School RuneScape game, if not based its game on the Complainant's game A couple other RSPS were also claimed, so it wasn't targeted but they went after small ones which are less likely to fight back. I just don't get why actual paypig OSRSPS like Alora still last. It must be hosted in no fucks given countries.
>>2452677 >They mention economic harm outright >>corresponds to using the disputed domain name to intentionally attract, FOR COMMERCIAL GAIN They cannot prove intention and there was no commercial gain so this is pure dogshit. >copied various elements from the Complainant's Old School RuneScape game While this is almost a reasonable claim OSRS is not the original Runescape 2 as RS2 was shut down permanently. Vidyascape preserved the concept of a different game entirely (Runescape 2) by building their own interpretation of it from the ground up. Runescape 2 was abandoned by Jagex as they viewed it as profitless so Vidyascape developers preserved the lost media entirely for free as an independent passion project strictly for a niche group of devoted fans of the lost media. In short, no OSRS elements were actually copied, but rather OSRS copied Runescape 2 elements which is not the point of contention here.
>>2451891 double gem rolls are so comfy, especially getting a diamond each time
>>2452776 based analysis. i always thought vplace was an online video game using widely and freely available runescape 2 assets, whose design philosophy prioritized making things work similarly to what's depicted in old runescape 2 fan media. i don't see how that could possibly relate to oldschool runescape. i thought OSRS was a game where you got to vote in endless elections that are always ignored, and click things like "the chambers of zarek"
bro he prob just forgot to renew the domain chill out. although there is a very real possibility vscape got shut down. but i should mention that it's far more likely 2004scape would get shut down than this server. 2004scape is "technically legal" since it's emulation. but it's still jagex's ip and they can in fact shut them down. like any of these preservation servers.
>>2453285 no, jagex (british) decided to complain to a fake internet court (czech) to illegally steal american property (the .org domain). they're basically denying american citizens of their rights issued by divine mandate, and we should probably invade england because apparently they didn't get the memo in 1775 or 1812
>>2453259 Vscape unironically is a unique interpretation and imaginative recreation of 2007 Runescape 2 which has nothing to do with OSRS or any of its updates. Any resemblance to OSRS is entirely coincidental.
>>2453631 lol. it sounds good but its extremely obvious pickles somehow scraped osrs code and simply altered the game to seem like actual 2007. for what it's worth it was a good idea.
>>2453644 >source: my ass You can't prove this beyond a reasonable doubt because the code is closed source. From my perspective it's extremely obvious that Pickles is an extremely talented developer that has the capacity to recreate 2007 Runescape 2 using skill alone. It was not a complex game even for its time and its graphics are quite simple. Much of Runescape 2's data--from skill information to graphics--has been recorded publicly which was easily able to be used as a reference point to recreate it. Any arguments to the contrary are an assumption that lacks evidence and slanders Pickles needlessly.
>>2453686 and yet you can't TRULY prove that he didn't just scrape the code from an early 2013 build of OSRS and them modify it to play similarly to 2007 RS.
>>2453631 yeah i know, it's a completely original game based on a set of historical assets that are widely available. need a mid-2000s dragon but can't 3D model? you're in luck, people are autistically cataloguing every version of the runescape 2 cache that has ever been downloaded, just use those to make your game
>>2453644 pickles personally confirmed to me that actual runescape source code has never been meaningfully leaked. i directly asked him this question once, and if it ever was leaked, which i seriously doubt because jagex requires you to amputate a finger every time you log into your work laptop, it is a cybersecurity fault on their part. so basically irrelevant

you people write such annoying posts and i feel like i have to fall for them because someone less informed might fall for them
*: this is closer to what the lost city project does, except obviously the artistic assets are literally redistributions of jagex's ip. the cache is what holds those and is what computers downloaded to save on bandwidth and is what is archived by the runescape archive project
>>2455817 >why are you pretending like pickles personally... Was the pic and lawyerspeak not clear enough for you? That post >>2453686 is not intending to strictly lay out the facts or trick anons. It's a pretend legal argument used to defend Vscape from the law using that other anon's post as a hypothetical example of an opposition argument. Modern law is not simply a matter of having all the facts autistically laid out and everyone agrees on what the right thing is, sadly.
>>2455817 >why are you lying by pretending like pickles "scraped osrs code" he did not use any jagex intellectual property, unless you count a portion of the graphical assets used in the game, but those can be downloaded for free here and many, many other places so that's not the issue: https://archive.openrs2.org/caches
i directly asked him once if jagex ever had a source code leak and they did not. so it's not even possible to create a mouse pointer based MMO using stolen jagex code. i actually believe that vplace is based in part on 09place (fixed it for them) due to one time, vplace's admin command help screens were not permissioned, so i probed the catalogue trying to determine exactly what powers the admins had: https://cdn.2009scape.org/wiki/user_guides/server_commands?s[]=commands
in general, the vplace admins are reasonably forthcoming with tech info about their project, provided you're genuinely curious and not likely to be a malicious actor. the whole drama is that jagex used a fake court (europe doesn't even use the same legal system as the commonwealth) to illegally steal american property based on a fake and mentally retarded claim that they exclusively own words like landscape, hardscape, moonscape, possibly even garlic scape, etc.
>>2456234 sure, but i'm not gonna complain if they technically violated the AGPL by not open-sourcing their implementation of some 09place admin command or whatever. i'll leave that particular form of autistic screeching to /g/
he became this upset over not being replied to with a "hi" once and has since been on a quest to give me a reason to never reply to nor care about this irrelevant gay nobody ever again
>>2456234 honestly the contrast between being against open-sourcing the server due to freeloaders, kikes, venezuelans and whoever else and then doing the job of multiple other server owners by combining their work into one 'complete' server instead of dying out before they're done re-implementing the basics for the n'th time would be quite something to think about
>>2457957 same, but standalone works fine >>2458011 >download link was only announced in the discord server makes no sense to me but at least non-groomers can find the real site now >>2458040 i don't know about the situation you're in but i'm pretty sure a few vplacers think that's a form of proper greeting these days. recently a player i think i get along with and later another player i didn't even know said that to me without any reason to do so apart from the lulz i assume
it's a shame how barren and kind of disrespectful the rsps preservation scene is. hot take, something like 2004scape would be exponentially better if it offered some 5x or 10x xp worlds and no discord requirement. vscape would also be better if we had a 5x or 10x xp world.
that's just my hot take though. you can still have your base 2.25x xp world though. idk bro rsps scenes will never thrive cause of "prestige" there is no prestige in an rsps just let us have fun.
it will be cool when the lost city team preserves every era of rs. that is apparently their goal. 2004-2012. idk if they are gonna do years after 2012 but yeah.
>>2459593 ive played a ton of 5-10x servers and it really just feels like slop and a lot of them are a buggy mess the authentic(tm) experience is what drives people both to play and develop it
its still down completely. might be a blessing in disguise. lost city team is working to preserve all eras anyway. you WILL have a lost city monopoly!!
This could be an opportunity to cleanse all OSRS elements and rebirth stronger than ever For instance, the ability to see what grimy herb is before you clean it is an OSRS feature, not pre-OSRS. Let me scam my best friends again! I used to identify the Ranarrs and sell them separately and sell all my unid guams for 1K each. Yes it's antisocial, no I don't think it was intended to be that way, but that was pre-OSRS era and we have to be faithful to that.
you're trolling bro i'm done and you still haven't specified what "scraping osrs code" means because it's just buzzwords you barely understand enough to put together in a sentence
>>2458040 >>2459323 videography is known to greet players with "nigger," which is a fairly common way to greet players. it's so cliche i ended up naming my player-owned cat "ginger" to make the rat pits more interesting
>>2459857 >>2459959 >scrape the osrs code you don't even have a basic comprehension of how computer networks function. what exactly does "scraping the code" even mean, and what specific implications would it have for implementing a backend server? (assuming pickles has a magic ability to decrypt OSRS network traffic, which presumably uses stronger crypto than the old dipshittery involving using DES/RC4 or whatever, with a copypasta copyright notice as the symmetric key)
by the way, vscape devs did scrape some data from osrs, namely quest dialogue they made a runelite fork with their own plugin to play through the original quests in a new account and transcribe all the dialogue it came across of for their own use there are screenshots of runescript code (server code leaked by devs/blogposts) and dumps of clientscript code and configs (come bundled with the game client) https://github.com/RuneStar/leaks https://github.com/Joshua-F/osrs-dumps/ yet it's much more believable to think that they pick and chose what specific content they want to integrate into their version of the game and what to not you don't just go ok ctrl+c osrs and ctrl+v into vscape and woops accidentally left in the inferno. retard
It's more like: >chuds like pikol et al. take documentation that other chuds compiled on RS's "protocol", plus their own research of Jagex's client slop, to write original code to re-implement the rules of Gielinor
Noone cares if they were more clever about capturing quest dialogue than manually transcribing. Fuck lawyers, INCEL PRIDE WORLDWIDE.
>>2461714 That makes sense. All the other bosses have multi-target attacks but Kril only targets one guy, so you just have to pray against the most dangerous bodyguard on your dragonhide. You're not very smart, are you?
>>2462418 >(...) "so you just have to pray against the most dangerous bodyguard on your dragonhide." (...) that would make sense if everyone wasn't using melee in melee gear, including armor
>>2460669 you mean i can write a bot that crawls a server and records all the network requests to infer how the backend works? maybe that's what you mean by "scraping the code"? it's hard to tell because talking about "scraping code" as if recording network chatter magically spits out the original source code, is retarded
>>2462937 >maybe that's what you mean by "scraping the code"? maybe that's what HE means by that, i was explaining one possible interpretation where they literally played the game and scraped quest dialogue similarly to how you'd programmatically scrape data from a webpage i did it to show that there WAS a possible good answer to my question of what he meant by that, which i didn't expect to receive because obviously he was using terms he didn't understand also there's already known, well researched inferences on how the backend works https://github.com/data-dependent/osrs-guides/blob/master/skilling.md https://github.com/LostCityRS/Engine2007/blob/main/src/engine/World.ts#L24
>>2462969 yeah i guess. i was understandably confused because using a nonsense term to imply stealing runescape source code makes no sense. there's a fuck ton of boring-ass tl;dr shit about how ticks work and what the mechanics of this or that are. my thought was that if the source code ever leaked, there's no point to endlessly speculate about all this shit because the answer would be right there. then it'd be reasonable to humor the possibility that vplace was committing some kind of crime. if jagex didn't want people poking and prodding at how runescape works, they should not have released runescape. btw, this is what was trademarked. it doesn't look like the suffix "scape" to me, it looks like part of a stylized logo that vplace, to the best of my knowledge, has never used
i have no idea what's wrong with england if they're so confused about what a "trademark" is, that they'd grant a registration number for literally half a logo
the service isn't called "scape," and that suffix isn't even unique to runescape. i can imagine taking legal action if someone made a service called "airbnb" or "facebook" using the same word in a different font
i guess it's technically illegal to tend someone's garden in the UK and dare to call yourself a landscaper. cuck nation
>>2463797 jagex comes off as extremely autistic and even more retarded now, thanks. i notice they misspelled their own fucking pretend word by trademarking "eldinis" instead of "elidinis" (robes of): https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00004099130
they also trademarked the word "abyssal," which of course is a dictionary word, with no unique styling at all: https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00004117880
i could see their point if the vidyascape logo was "vidya" written on rocks, with a sword going through it, and "scape" also written on rocks. but i'm not a lawyer, nor do i care that much about dysfunctional vassal states that harbor muslim rape gangs
actually, now i'm wondering if it's possible to DoS jagex's legal team by writing a script that extracts each unique word from the dialogue of various open-source runescape clones, hits some dictionary API trying to look them up, and if the word isn't be defined, automatically emailing them a notice that someone is infringing using that word. it costs £99 to reserve each copyright for 10 years, and i'm assuming you could easily find 10k+ nonsense words like neitiznot, guthan, falador, etc., potentially imposing a million GBP minimum every decade. at the very least, it'd increase the SNR so much that finding legit infringement becomes exponentially harder
can't turn off the brain, sorry. i remember interviewing for a side job where their main income came through affiliate links to streaming services (it was basically a mid-tier movie search engine). i noticed they had no account email verification and asked the developer, who was really a graphic designer, what's stopping me from registering thousands of accounts that crawled the catalogue clicking on every single link, to get their accounts pulled for AUP violations? interestingly, the site is still up, but it no longer has any affiliate links. post theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g5Hz17C4is
I fucking hate the retarded devs who fall for ironshitreddit meme if a player wants to play by himself then he should, don't give them special fucking icons and little gay mechanics to make them exclusive

This is the joke: Hamhouse is a sophisticated, articulate heir to a vast fortune whose hobbies include driving fancy cars and drinking English tea. Hamhouse has a move called Cross Counter-- essentially a counterattack. To use this move, he goes into a certain state where he looks like an imbecile; poor posture, mouth agape, eyes unfocused. This is completely contradictory to his personality; designed to trick his opponents into attacking him, whereby he then unleashes a powerful counterattack. In the video, Hamhouse is in a fast food restaurant ordering food and talking like a layperson. This is something that he would never do because he is too classy for that. Since he is acting in a way he never actually would, it means that he is actually in the Cross Counter state. When cuteboy touches him, he counterattacks her. Since she is like 10 years old and not a martial artist, she gets blown very far away.

some days ago when running another boss i was also experiencing frequent dc's at around the same time of the day, curious if they're related
Didn't know this was a thing, you people should advertise this shit on /v/ sometime. How many people are on this server and how much malware would i be downloading if i tried this?
>>2518079 I played for 8 years on and off and never got any virus from this, don't know about others people do advertise it on /v/ in runescape threads sometimes
>>2518192 >>2302490 Web host changed to https://vidyaplace.org, get client from there Standalone is the only currently working client right now, not web or mobile clients.
>want to play some vidyascape after a few week hiatus >think to self how reliable it is and how ill just jump in real quick >java -jar vidyascape_launcher.jar >new client available! >go to thread, tells me vidyascape.org is where to download >404 ummm exuse me niggers what the fuck?
>>2302490 I'll never be hamhouse I'll never be cool I'll always be nothing Unless I'm with you Cause you make me hamhouse Tell me what can I do? The pieces are missing When I'm not with you
So I'm not even trying to shit on OSRS. I promise you a part of me would love to enjoy it. I actually DID enjoy RS2 when we all grew up on it and it was all we knew. It WAS better back then.
But here I am watching Alkan and I'm like holy fucking shit how do people find anything he is doing fun? Genuinely. Look at all of the shit he is having to do in this video. And he doesn't even sound happy doing it. It also annoys me how many slop items they have to juggle around in the inventory. I don't even know what half that shit is.
>>2539630 the download link for the client has been posted in a certain place already, and where exactly has been mentioned too, but i'll leave that up to you to find out
>>2539736 enjoy permanent brain damage from finding out what i think
>>2541792 >>2541797 they have changed the name of the server likely because of the same reason this one changed theirs and speaking of deleting prior progress, the owner stated he has all player data preserved and that they can make a world specifically for players that played on the x2 rate, separate from x1 and x10
>>2542368 server domain yes, but the wiki domain is still the old one
what is the difference between dc's when one voids aggression and damage, giving me enough time to eat/pray/tp after reconnecting, and another lets whatever is attacking me continue until i reconnect to standing @ camelot castle with 3 items left?
i've dc'ed multiple times before when playing on eu servers but have only had the latter happen twice after being forced to play on the jewed us server instead
>>2552054 thinking about it a bit more i've probably answered my own question - the difference is between outgoing and incoming inputs
if the server crashes, then all server-sided actions are paused at that point, even if player-sided actions can still be queued up, so from the moment the connection is re-established, all aggression and damage continues from that point
if my own connection crashes, then from the server's perspective i've suddenly started afk'ing in the middle of gwd - all incoming actions will still be processed while outgoing ones are voided because nothing is being sent to the server
guess it's unfortunate that i've only started running into the latter after the server rebranded or maybe i already did, just haven't had a noticeable enough occasion to notice
>>2555784 Wrong, the future is predetermined by the great attractor at the end of time, if you are making a decision its because you were always meant to decide to do what you did.
>>2552109 Everyone was hardcore dcing a few weeks ago. I'm not going to do dangerous content until they add the worlds back. My theory is the server is expecting the other worlds.
