Dark and Darker
Hopes and reams for new classes/maps?
Or just complain about class balance, hadn't seen a DaD thread in awhile

The biggest recent change for me was the removal of bunnyhopping. As a long term player I have hated it for the longest time. The reason ranged classes cannot be balanced and kite infinitely is because of retaining momentum in the air for weapon swapping/casting/etc. That is now gone, the survival bow is no longer the best weapon in the game bar none because you literally cannot be hit ever with it out. That was a major positive change.
>However
They also promised that each class would receive new spells and unique shit. That didnt happen. The barb and fighter got new spells, and every weapon got the ability to parry and riposte. This did somewhat balance the best melee weapon in the game by far (The longsword), since other weapons now can hit hard. I can talk for hours about the stupidity of the longsword, so ill just move on.
Speaking of new shit, the Barbarian got Whirlwind and a couple new spells and "everyone" (Youtubers) cried WW was overpowered. It has since been nerfed. I do not believe WW should be able to attack through walls like it could/still can(?) but WW was not overpowered in any sense of the word. They brought its damage from 100% per hit>80% per hit. Why would you choose to use a spell that nerfs your damage by 20% when you could just auto attack for full damage? I dont get it. The barbarian isnt strong because it has WW, its strong because its healthpool has a base of 43%(I believe?) higher than every other class.

>As a Lifebloom Druid
My class has seen more nerfs than any other throughout the history of Dark and Darker post launch. Every time a streamer dies to bear form or panther form, Human form druid gets nerfed in the following patch notes. With the inability to shapeshift, my class has only 1 skill. Spell memory, the other slot i literally leave empty. I understand longterm wizard players for example have been without new mechanics for probably a lot longer than druid, but I really would just like a second skill in my damn bar so I have two like every other damn class.
Since im on the topic; if you compare the healing capabilities of base druid vs base cleric and lifebloom druid vs advanced healer cleric theres also no reason you should ever go with druid in either case. Lifebloom removes the ability to shapeshift, so by choosing druid you're choosing less base healing and less attribute scaling over a duration of time instead of instantly healing for higher bases with higher scaling. I dont die a lot because i have a million hours into the game, but its because im good, not because my character class is carrying me. It weighs me down quite a bit desu.
>New Volcano map
I dont really like it. The theme isnt my favorite, but also im just not big on it. I think instead of a new map I would massively prefer the 9+ tiles at the new season start to just be made for a current map. Like 6 tiles for ruins and 3 for goblin caves, something like that.
I havent played much this season despite bunnyhopping finally being removed, im just kinda bored. I mostly play in squires solo and its starting to feel pretty repetitive. But if you're new to the game, with the removal of bunnyhopping there genuinely isnt all that much "movement tech" you have to familiarize yourself with before being competitive. Dark and Darker currently is in a very good place.
>Pic unrelated. Outdated longsword and why it was so stupid.

>MOST IMPORANTLY
And my final post: The game currently has 500 queues for different things. You cant argue with me; the best version of the game ever was when "Squires to riches" (Trios ONLY lobbies) was forced. Im a solo player and i still massively prefer trios only lobbies. With the addition of solos, and easy healing (squire now gives you a campfire, potions, blue potions, etc) and knowledge/experience of how monsters and the game works in general, it has flipped for me from a slow methodical dungeon delving game with pvp to a fast paced call of duty.
The release of panther chicken jump/rat form through doorways absolutely ruined the game for me. Not because i was dying to it, but because when druid was released lifebloom wasnt out yet so it became a requirement of my kit playing druid. I know you can make arguments that it was/is overpowered and contributes to the movement speed meta, etc. but thats not what my biggest problem with it is. It turns the identity of the game from slow paced, to one of sprinting to other players spawnpoints because only I have the ability to do so. I no longer lurk around corners noting down how many players I see in the enemy team to decide if i should fight or run, I sprint at them knowing theres only 1 person to fight and thanks to my experience, im almost always guaranteed to win unless i screw up or am severely outgeared. (Patch dependent)
>I do very much like the game, and anyone thinking about getting it; it has been the only game ive been excited for since the 2013 trailer of The Division 1. And in this instance; D&D lived up past my expectations.

I think lifebloom druid should get a few more spells specific to that perk. Give them a Rez at least, to differentiate them from cleric make it a spell that grows a seed on the player corpse that has like 10 health but eventually resurrects the player.
As a Wizard main the state of wizard is annoying, its powerful but the spells are bland compared to sorc. I'd rather they get a ton of flavor spells like Knock, Mage Hand, Grease, etc. Maybe make a perk that turns R into another spell wheel so they could run 15 spells in a lobby but I don't even think they have 15 spells.

Ya, they need to turn down the queues, I much preferred the time where only goblin caves was the solo dungeon with a 3x3 module. I think every NPC just needs around 3 - 5 quest and you can read what later quest require so you don't need dnd tracker to keep track of the 100+ items

SDF leaving to work on another project to "prove nexon wrong" i think is a major red flag. Terry was a major part of Electronic Arts monetization back in the day. If you notice; since that community note was made about SDF stepping down leaving it to Terry and Paul(?) the game has already gotten like 10 weapon cosmetics + weapon cosmetic bundles you can only buy with real money. Granted the cosmetic is the same just for multiple different weapons, but its the first weapon skin there is and theres tons of them.
>Also
The bluestone shard "squish" where they gave you double blue stone shards and made them worth half of what they were. Idk if any of you caught that, but the purpose wasnt to make the system more simple, it was to half the amount of bluestone shards you earn in a season and double the amount of time it takes to get them.
I fear that the upcoming season we'll start to see gayer and gayer shit in the cash shop.

To me the most grievous example was the stupid ass fart emote that doesn't fit the theme of the game. I don't care much about the new cosmetics. The new skins remind me of fortnite pay to lose ones, especially the extravagant cloak one that sticks out in the dark. As much as I hate it cosmetics nowadays are what prevent games like this from dying.
I wonder if SDF was gone for awhile now, what with the last few patches actually being high quality.

>last few patches actually being high quality
I dont know if SDF was deserving of all the hate. The reason he was so overwhelmingly despised was the youtuber bandwagon. Now i dont know for sure what specific patches were majorily terry and which were majorily sdf, but like the majority of things the youtuber influencer train hops on, its mostly telephone game from one to the next to collect ad revenue before the topic doesnt get views.

They very much do cater to the streamers, I remember when sumit1g was playing a shit ton of fighter. They kept giving that class little buffs when he was playing but he would always die to another fighter, usually the buckler dagger ones. He uninstalled the game after like the dying to one the fifth time in a row lol

I hate streamers so much. They cry about X, and X gets changed. They're so casual in the games they play, they're only there for ad revenue, and the big ones have so much influence they can ruin the game with just a few complaints. It wouldnt be a big deal if it didnt happen SO frequently.

Once human isnt an extraction game. Asmongold literally did your reply's picrel in my very server i was in. I was in the prismverse clash server asmongold ruined.
The population went from being like 65:35 to like 10:90 in a day, then when he was done doing the sponsored playtime, the next day after like noon or whatever it was; the population cut down to like 50 total players in the entire server total across both factions. Everyone kept dying to the massive horde of Mayflies.

They ruin any game, reminds me when Asmon had multiple raid groups spawn camp Gadgetzan in WoW classic. Then a few weeks later when Dispelling World buffs because the favorite tactic against streamers he along with many others wanted people to be banned for that shit
