Link skills are kind of a neat idea. Frees up hotbar space while still letting you have lots of different buttons. You can minmax your hotbar space in really funny ways depending on combo routes. Guardian has two attacks that buff its damage and then have links into other attacks. You can sequence and buffer your links in such a way that you use all of your available attacks while only using like two hotbar slots.

Posted some Day One photos to the core MMODventure thread elsewhere, but now's time to move onto the main General during our stay.
Ran into a few more of you 'lot out in the wild, poised to brave the lupine-infested fields of Sansupus Farm to the north. Ravenous wolves and equally-as-ravenous wolfkin roam the ruins of once-prosperous fields out in the heart of Hakanas Highlands.
What brought about such wretched creatures to these well-to-do lands?

Ah, that'd probably do it.
Certainly wasn't the only summoning circle either, but this one's clearly the largest of the bunch. The rest of the cavern leading here was caked with the blood of whoever was beyond stupid enough to summon these beasts as well. Don't screw with the occult, kids.

The main roadway through the Gilded Woods is dotted with these nice little hunter's encampments, a welcome reprieve from all of the [[[Nature]]] wanting to intrude on your nature-walk.
This one staked its claim in a rather odd spot, however, as it's stationed just a short walk away from a huge bear family's cave. Convenient, yes, but I do question the long-term prospects of this little hut in such blatantly hazardous territory.
A real scarred-up Elite roams just outside the cave, one which can be Tamed with the right setup. Check its Bestiary entry, use your surroundings, and you'll score him as your own before long.Flying mounts aren't allowed, have to do it the intended way.

A quick lead-up prior to descending on yet more ailing farmland needing to be liberated, this time being terrorized by the conniving Rabbini.
Not saying all Rabbini and Lopori aren't to be trusted, but clearly the owner of this homestead didn't do their due diligence in reading whatever contract was thrown at him by these two-timing thugs.

Mounted combat time!
This game's marque feature is pretty neat, albeit somewhat shallow initially (as is so often the case with these sorts of things in this genre). Melee swipes come out fast and clean, as one would expect, but ranged fire demands more nuance, requiring you to lead your shots to find your mark.
The same holds true for most projectiles in this title from what I've noticed, physical or magical. Feels weirdly liberating to be able to actually dodge incoming projectiles in an MMO for once, rather than having every single missile magically be magnetized.
>>
File: Carve and Spit.jpg (3.9 MB)
>>2370673
How well does the mounted combat work?
Pretty well, all told. Bit slow in the early goings, but with how many Mounted Skills become available later, I doubt it stays this leisurely for long.
Much like sprinting on your mount, attacking with it also drains its Energy, so have a backup ready to switch to if your current beast starts to get tired. Same deal if you've converted a Familiar into a Battle Pet, actually - good idea to have backups when needed.

Have to admin, my propensity to take screenshots of the scenery is really making me drag though these starting zones.
Hard not to admire the splendor of Cryengine-developed locales, even if it's clear this is an ancient branch of the tech powering this title. Certainly won't give UE5 a run for its money in terms of raw fidelity (or even UE4 for that matter), but given I've been dabbling in MMOs from the 2000s lately, this still feels like a quantum leap in raw graphical might over most of those titles.
Need to knock it off with the excess photo-taking and get down to brass tacks, though. There's more to be seen than just some nice forests and highland hills on this romp...!

Deep within the mountains of Hakanas lies the appropriately-named Lavalight Cave, site of the region's still very much alive volcanic activity.
Once an earthen temple for religious pilgrimage in ancient times, its natural passageways now host little but reanimated undead and rock-hard golems brought to life by foul magicks.
Obviously can't have that. Watch your step, wouldn't want your dress to get scorched (nor the rest of you).

Quite tempting to peer over the edge of these natural stonework bridges and admire the sights, but don't get too cocky in being sure-footed. These rocks can be awfully slick in high-heels.What was with Action-MMOs released in the 2010s and mandatory high-heels? I swear like EVERY major release at the time had them as the default. TERA, Blade&Soul, Vindictus, Riders of Icarus...

Managed to catch-up with a few equally-as-green guildies out in the wild, and we all went back in for a second (and eventually third) helping of this big guy.
There's more nuance to the difficulty of Dungeons than I was anticipating. Four tiers to start (Story -> Epic -> Heroic -> Legendary), each one requiring a clear of the previous difficulty to unlock, and five further difficulty modifiers thereafter which affect the Droprate% of the stage.
Made a bit of shorthand when discussing which tiers of challenge to target, although I doubt it's common parlance for this title. Two numbers, the first being the starting difficulty tier, and the second being the Droprate% modifier. So "2-3" would be Epic/Tier-3, "3-4" would be Heroic/Tier-4, et cetera.

Naturally, this lava-soaked Golem was little match for the combined efforts of three newblood Adventurers who only somewhat knew what they were doing.
Didn't have a Priest with us, so every stray scrape and scratch was sorely felt. Definitely suspect I'll be taking up Alchemy soon, to compensate for the general lack of available healers among the Guild's current ranks.
Would've gladly played Priest myself, were Faries versed in that branch of the arcane.Might end up regretting going for Trickster later, we'll have to see how things shake out down the line.

Another morning's romp, another series of photos...!
Sightly fewer this time around compared to the first two days, as I really gotta get my act in gear and start actually playing this title, rather than just being a stereotypical camera-carrying tourist in these lands.
Still, it's hard not to gawk at the expansiveness of landscapes like these.Or I've just been so starved for MMOs made within the past decade that even ancient Cryengine tech is looking impressive to me now.

Vast blue skies, fertile fields primed for harvests to come, early Spring's light casting itself perfectly upon the glistening leaves...
Many would consider sights of this nature to be utterly mundane, and perhaps that'd be the case for me as well were I to have lived here for years. But as an ignorant passerby to much of this realm, this right here is just beautiful.

Quick stop at the Scholar's District in Hakain's Crossing for some highly important matters of utmost scrutiny.

Looking through the Cash Shop, there's nothing which is more risque than Trickster's starting outfit, surprisingly. Regular armorsets appear to be more blatantly forward about that sort of thing than anything you'd spend real money on, which feels so incredibly backwards compared to similar titles from this era of KMMO design, such as TERA and Blade&Soul.
Also, you're mad if you think I'll be splashing any cash on what is clearly a Russian server. More inventory/familiar space would be nice, but I'll just deal with the small flecks of Ellun granted through Achievements, rather than go through any Russian payment service.

Morineh Lake is a sight plucked straight from the primordial era, with ancient semi-aquatic beasts living their lives beside the ever-present Fae tending to the lake's thoroughly mana-infused tree.
And what an outstanding tree it is, absolutely towering over any and all who care to survey its splendor. This 'shot really doesn't do justice to how gargantuan it is in person, highly recommend visiting if you can.
>>
File: Idyllic Village.jpg (3.8 MB)
>>2374286
Not far from Morineh Lake resides the humble village of Kellwoods. A quintessential hamlet's hamlet if ever you'll find, with all manner of tradeskills being taught by the locals, and workshops for honing those skills to a pointed shine.
It's just a short stop on the path to bigger and better things, sure. But it's nice. Real cozy place to trot through.
Might not want to stay too long, however, as the once-thriving farmland just across the road from here is absolutely swarming with hundreds of vampires. Always gotta be something...

Carleon Manor was once the proud estate of a noble family who tended to the central Highlands, yet has since fallen to ruin in the wake of vampiric magicks running wild through its former residents. Now little more than a decrepit shell of its former self, you'd best believe it falls onto the Adventurers of this realm to go in there and partake in some thorough wet-work before the vampiric plague spreads even further.
How (You) aren't also turned into a mindless thrall by all of the vampires you're having to put down is a mystery best left unwritten.
(Will post a few 'shots of the Dungeon a bit later on).
>>
>>
File: Transylvania Trot.jpg (1.4 MB)

File: Hazelight Halls.jpg (2.0 MB)

Though tattered halls and ruined rooms do these now-mindless thralls shamble, serving no one but their master's dark and twisted deeds.
Foul, unspeakable acts which would horrify any twit with half a wit to give, such as, uh... Having them march through tattered halls and ruined rooms, I suppose.
You'd think the maid-staff would be busy cleaning things up here, but perhaps the Grand Vampire now running this estate prefers the semi-dilapidated look.

As expected, the Grand Vampire of this estate wasn't particularly grand at all (although his black skinny jeans did work as a brief distraction mid-battle), and a surprise visit from one of our Guild's spellslingers helped seal the deal.
Another fiend put in the grave, and the vampiric plague thwarted at its source. Hopefully the village of Kellwoods gets its farmland back as a result of this; that place is way too nice to suffer as they have.

New round of photos, let's get to it.
One last vestige of the vampiric curse plaguing the northeastern Highlands resides in the town of Miller's Hill, spurred-on by those awful cultists skulking about the region.

Life for the fauna of the Broken Caldera is harsh and unforgiving, with many creatures here thoroughly adapting themselves to the sweltering heat.
Firebeaks and Phoenixes call this lava-soaked crater home, and you'd best tame one quick if you're to survive for long. Hope you kept that Flamebeak Finch from earlier.

If you're wondering where to find the aforementioned Phoenixes, they glide high above the Caldera proper, catching the lavafont's ample currents to remain airborne with little issue.

Lucked into a few guildies on a return trip to Hakain's Crossing, and clearly their penchant for exotic avians was on full display.
Flying mounts really are head-and-shoulders above the rest, when it comes to traversing the vast plains of the Highlands (and likely beyond). Their signature Glide ability flies circles around any ground-bound beast, and even just being able to ascend over mountains rather than around or through them is a major boon.
Keep track of their Energy, however. All that flapping and gliding (and shooting and striking) can drain their reserves rather quick.

More photos!Probably won't have a daily photo session tomorrow, as a forewarning. Starting to burn-out on daily (or near-daily) uploads a bit, been at this since Iris.
Ten in total this time around, let's get to it.
The Sea of Hakanas is the unequivocal domain of all things avian. Our feathered friends (and not-so-friends) dominate the skies of this scattered archipelago, setting rightful claim to all they survey.
Despite the barely-there amount of walkable land among this disparate island chain, some tethered to the earth and some set aloft on controlled magical currents, there IS strategic benefit to the Kingdom in establishing a presence in these harsh lands...
>>
File: Reap and Sow.jpg (3.8 MB)

The remains of Fort Baellas in the center of the map are little more than a few storework towers jutting out from the craggy cliffs below, yet one in particular certainly stands out.
On top of this specific turret resides a Master Tradesman for every single wartime craft you can conjure, plus a dedicated workbench for each. Can't imagine this group receives much in the way of traffic to this place, but I'm certainly not complaining.

To the northernmost point of the Sea's charted map, the ruins of Fort Zenen can be found for daring explorers, a proud place of worship by sea-fairing folk during its prime.
Such a prime has long-since passed, as is clearly evident, yet glimpses of its former majesty can still be seen in the architecture which hasn't yet slipped beneath the waves.

Unexpected (and mercifully brief) excursion to the Ruins of Matren, northeast of the Highlands. Yetis are gathering en-masse at this once-temperate settlement, and of course, as seemingly the only person with official authority to act as a free agent among the Kingdom's many factions, you'd best believe it was my task to cut their numbers down by a bit.
Was expecting it to be a bit bracing, but nothing too unbearable. Highland weather, you know.

Remnants of structures and homesteads built by northern-faring tribes lie largely dormant along this frigid path, long-abandoned in the wake of the mountain's bitter chill turning even more unbearable.
Certainly can't sustain a village on melted snow and small game alone, when all necessary supply lines for proper sustenance are severed by the local yeti population running amok.
>>
File: Big Bruties.jpg (2.9 MB)
>>2386520
Speaking of which, these two burly types were guarding the path towards what eventually lead to the yeti's chieftain. They weren't actually as threatening as those bulging muscles would imply, however. Nothing some well-placed fae magick couldn't fix (for good - they're both dead now).
Wasn't able to take any actual photos of the Yeti Chieftain himself, frustratingly, so you'll just have to believe that he was in that cabin's basement, honest.
>>
File: Yeti Convention.jpg (3.6 MB)
>>2386529
With that threat dealt with, the Crow Sentry near the Ruins' entrance informed me that only a few hundred more Yeti would need to be slain for this part of the mountains to become habitable again. And after stating such, somehow had the gall to ask if I could lend my assistance for this damn-near Sisyphean task.
No. No, I don't think I will.
>>2386294
Even if it were, it would almost certainly be targeting mobile phones as its core platform, much as the now-defunct Blade&Soul 2 did several years prior. Should that end up being the case, I'll have less than zero interest in it (assuming it's not just quietly canceled).
Nobody's making new PC MMOs anymore - it's all about ultra-predatory mobage masquerading as a more reputable genre from ages past. Mobile titles very explicitly out for your wallet above all else are inherently far inferior forms of entertainment, and thusly not worth your time nor money.
The best which might come from a hypothetical TERA 2 would be a new influx of Elin fanwork. Yet as the original artists behind TERA have outright admitted that the Elin wouldn't fly by modern standards, it wouldn't surprise me if they were radically resigned, or outright removed entirely (which would defeat the entire point).

The Lair of Ienos can be accessed in Parna's Coast, from Icebreaker's Camp. You need a token to enter, it can be obtained from a quest and you can get more from a daily at the entrance.
It's a solo dungeon and, if you defeat the boss, you get one chance at capturing one of two random, tameable familiars (one ground and one flying) found in the final room. I got a cow.
>>
>>2386541
I don't think Korean MMOs were any more reputable than current mobile games, they both only exist to drain your wallet.
Elins not flying anymore is a cope, there's nothing stopping them, Aion 2 has a character creator that lets you make characters with Elin proportions (with more customization thus exaggeration) and has far lewder outfits than TERA ever had. Not to mention how gachas are just selling you porn at this point, games have never been more degenerate.

The first week's Photoshoot has drawn to a close!
As ever, thank (You) all for your continued eagerness in attending these memory-making events, as well as your patience in putting-up with me fussing around with the virtual camera. Think we kept a respectable pace this time around, all things considered.
While there was a grand total of eight unique locals we shot at during the event, this batch of photos climbed to fourteen (14) in total, due to various alt-takes and whatnot inflating the numbers as bit.
As several of these are near-duplicates of each other (just with slightly different pose timings/camera adjustments/etc), feel free to keep the ones you like, and toss the ones you don't. Surely you know the drill with these sorts of things by now.
Also not much flavor text here, barring a few exceptions. Gotta keep these 'snaps fresh, you know.

There will be plenty of photo opportunities in other titles down the line, you'll get your chance...!
But yes, gave this one a proper shot and can recognize its appeal to those who get into it. There ARE things to enjoy about Icarus, it's not some 0/10 game some Anon in the main thread keep trying to push, yet it just never fully clicked with me. S'how it is.
Will just be doing this-and-that 'til the next title in the wider project rolls around, not really committing to anything.
Truthfully, I'm in kind of a vidya-playing slump at the moment, with many of my usual picks not feeling very appealing in general. Temporary disinterest, of course.Actually giving ChromieCraft a shot for a bit, despite not playing that specific title which-shall-not-be-named in over 18+ years. Clearly must not have my head screwed on straight presently.

Based code dealer.
These promo codes tend to be arbitrarily time/use limited, so to anyone reading this, go try inputting them in the Storage page of your main account and see if they work!Did anyone else keep having their account's last sign-in show up as being from a completely different country? Mine kept saying it was last accessed from somewhere in Tehran, Iran, even after changing my password. Glad I used a throwaway e-mail for this one...

pretty and poopy, it's once again a gook game where the only people that put any effort in were the 3d modelers and environment designers.
some baffling design choices that are entirely meant to drive you into the cash shop - the whole taming gimmick is somehow the most cucked, nickeled and dimed thing that the game has.

The first 20 levels are actually pretty good, you go through the game pretty quickly, you can kill stuff pretty easily and there is a lot to do.
After that cracks show pretty quickly, the numbers of shit to kill increases and you spend A LOT of time doing sidequests which are shit. Your mounts are all going to be turned into stats since they can't handle harshes environments and your free gib mount is the best anyways...
