No idea what gay drama is going on right now, but this is the first thread that showed up in the catelog. I want to start a new world focused entirely on ruin diving with better ruins. Is it possible to progress entirely off ruin loot (copper tools, flax, limestone, etc)? What would the minimal armor be for permadeath? Gambeson?
>>2474244 idk i found a ruin that was basically like a depression in the ground, it looks like it has cool shit but it also has half a dozen locust nests and they keep respawning so i can't really explore it. whole thing is overrun with those little brass fuckers. also found an abandoned town which was really cool. it's a great mod but the locations with mobs tend to go too hard for me.
>>2474244 I enter all ruins and even forests with full iron scale armor with shield. FUCK wolves, FUCK bears, FUCK wildlife in general, all of it is kill on sight.
does the dev plan to have any sort of hireable defenders, just npcs who hang out in your fort, take up archer repositions to repel the drifter troglodyte swarms
I remember minecraft planned to have this back in like fuckin 2011 or some shit and then notch started getting fat and lazy and thinking the nether was cool
Well, I've lived here in my temporary pine log shitshack for over 100 irl hours now, but alas, it is finally time to move. Now that I finally have a sailboat built, all I gotta do is finish loading up all my garbage before I can finally find a new location to establish a real, permanent base.
Gotta say, abusing server respawns of the archives has changed how I play this game in a fun way. I've gone from grug farmer to tomb raider, diving in early mornings and pulling out cosmetics, silver/gold, building materials, multiple crates of black coal.
The glasses in particular sell very well to other players who have to travel thousands of blocks, could probably charge more than 20rg each since they sell fast. This is my second doublechest full of just wearables. Wonder if the night sky elk medallions are worth as much but they're a lot rarer from my experience.
>>2537963 I'm a fair distance from the archive itself, and its not a huge deal since it auto-respawns and admins will manual respawn for anyone that asks I think. Lately i've been getting less of the first time luck since we finished a stone path highway leading to it, and more people have been visiting now that its not the first week of the server where I got lucky and was one of three people who settled this far north out of ~100
>>2537932 Fair haul for pt2 of this. I'm getting confident enough to bring bags with me but I saw a big drigger on the main level in there so I hope that was a fluke with the guy before me pissing off a bell. Found a couple hidden areas, and a ladder leading down into the fuckpit in the center in case I fall for some reason. Haven't walked around it yet because spooky. Might try actually killing all the bronze spider things and explore the commons since they don't seem to hurt that much with armor on.
Side question: For purely food-saving reason, is it better to walk 1000 blocks or sprint it? Would the time saved by sprinting offset the increased hunger gain to reach the same distance with less satiety cost?
>>2539403 Mostly the free gold, lead, zinc, and brass ingot. Also lore book, linen bag, and jonas parts I guess. I had room so I just grabbed everything including the seeds and a free cleaver.
If I can keep finding that much gold in the translocator room then i'll be set forever.
>>2537597 2 more bears on my property, i am convinced they are attracted by something. i just hope they're not killing my livestock. maybe it's the apiary? it's the only thing that's not fenced. the bear hitbox is some bullshit, a lot of the time it seems my arrows just pass right through them. thankfully they're easy to kill, i can kite them to my doorstep and stab them where they can't reach me.
>after having spent 350 with VIRTUALLY ZERO BLUE CLAY just went on an expedition to two large deposits of it, which was quite far away from my base. Back and forth a few times, a trip through a useless translocator, whatever whatever I now have over two trunks of blue clay This should last me for a really long time. Gonna make some amounts of each color bricks and stuffs, but now I need to go out and dig up more redclay to make fireclay. I am NOT using my blue clay for fireclay, nor for skeps or whateverotherbeit Summer flew past me and I'm already in september having not explored the north yet nor gone towards the lazaret, which is somewhat closeby to the west. That's probably my next stop once I make a ton of food and grab some wood to build an outpost there. Dunno what it'll look like, the archives took me a long time to clear out of useless loot, so I expect roughly the same amount of garbage there. I'm hoping against hope to find bauxite on the way there so I can finally enter the steel age. It's the last thing holding me back. I can already make a ton of teir 2 bricks with olivine and such. Just need this damn bauxite. I have been searching on my expeditions everywhere there's other kinds of sedimentary rocks, but I have yet to find any. Sandstone, lime, chert a pleanty. No bauxite in sight I can also upgrade my windmill to large and move the small one over to the water wheel. Might do that next, but I just had a long smiffing sesh this afternoon and am burnt out on that desu
my first winter is so fucking boring, can't go outside because I am a noob who didn't realise you could preserve pelts for fur clothes. Now I am just shivering my ass off while commiting deforestation crimes just so I am warm enough to sleep away the days
>>2541609 the classic VS experience tbf the amount of pelts you need just to make decent clothes is a tall order when you are a fucking cave man. i was still freezing my nuts off with a full set. since i don't chisool in the first year i just sleep as much as possible with the bed right next to a campfire.
When animals are tame enough, can you lead them via a rope to places? I'd like to be able to separate the males and have more control over the population. I dislike walking into my barn and seeing a two dozen chickens all fucking around like retards. Ideally, once they're tame enough, I'd want one set of hens that are separate and just lay unfertile eggs to eat, and another set that has a rooster and continues raising for meat. But it's annoying to corral this bastards
i know a cellar has to be 7x7x7; is there anything in the game code stopping me from making 2 of them that share a wall? they'll both count as a cellar right?
>>2547053 damage is inflicted in an area around the lightning and doesnt make a wall check. anyways instead of fixing that, we're going to be adding yet another step to smithing in 1.23
>>2537932 imagine being this much of a jew and enjoying doing tyrones lore hole again and again and over and over. trannythread is actually giving me some keks lol
