T-thanks I guess anon.
But since 3.22 I've only been fucked rough twice, other times me and my crew either wipe the floor or escape.
My favorite is when we got fucked by 7 fighters + Perseus, but managed to boost nav max speed, turn around 180 decoupled and shoot a single torpedo to the mantis trying to keep up - and it ate the torp, we escaped with last engine left.
So I guess I fancy my odds.

>at least 6 new ships have dropped since LAMP got an initial rollout
>maybe 2 of them have LAMP
another cool feature given the tier0 treatment and fucking dropped forever. they have serious management issues, this isn't a dev problem, it's a 'we don't know how to set or maintain priorities' problem. these are guy tinkering in his garage issues, always starting things and never getting them done before moving on to the next one, it shouldn't happen to BILLION DOLLAR global companies

I've posted it before but I run https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/orgs/FML
About 3-4 guys play more actively and the rest on/off.
As for what we mainly do, we tend to test the newest content and then fuck off to do whatever is the most profitable but open to everything. Like I said to the pirateanon we're not pirates but mostly because its not profitable - nothing against any playstyle and since I have been quite active I have friends in all the lowest places.
>>2535283
I've only played since 3.22 which was arguably the best and most stable sandbox time of the game. Overall there's been some ok patches after 4.0 but if we consider how unreliable it is for any single mission or even content like CZ to work each patch - its insane.
CZ as a rule works after server restart for a single time, my favorite one was the part where it spawned unlootable armor loot boxes instead of the cz loot.

Take your time - and thanks.
The vid has horrible framerate but I don't blame the guy who took it, not the top of the line pc - none of the video options we have now and Hathor first week.
Notably on that video you can see me take out a polaris with single torpedo (before engineering), missiles are/were a thing of magic and dissapointment.

3.2x came about because 3.18 was such a disaster that they had to focus on stability for several months after, same with 4.0 to 4.4
The issue probably stems from metrics they use to address stability
Stats for things like crash frequency, mission completion rate, abandonment rate, etc.
If something is missing from those stats then it doesnt get acknowledged until they track it, or disregarded if the stats show that its not common despite updoots on reddit
>>
>>2535614
Makes sense but I don't know if I agree to what is posted as the reason for this type of patches which is: "Before the patches took too long since we wanted to polish them"
If that'd be the case, then at least you could play a working game for long periods of time.
>>
>>2535623
"polish" means "it doesn't immediately crash at launch" because when it hits evo there will still be things straight-up broken like QT not working 100% of the time
actual stability pushes take at least 3-5 months to see results
3.18 to 3.23 was from 2023/03 to 2024/06
4.0 to 4.6 was from 2024/12 to 2026/01
Minus the broken versions we got several months of playable SC
These aren't "long" periods but they did exist, and only lasted until people complained about the lack of new features and slow development
What CIG should do is make everyone happy by letting LIVE version stick to 3.23 and let PTU get 4.9, 4.10, etc.
It would prove they can make something stable and that they are making tangible progress

Instead of the OP as >>2535020 pointed out, I started putting orgs founded by anons here in the new/returning player rentry at the beginning of 4.8: https://rentry.org/guier/#scg-orgs
Speaking mainly on behalf of merch, engagement in playing right now, especially in a project which is very hostile to anything multiplayer/multicrew, is entirely dependent on how well the current live patch is doing. Since 4.8 is a disaster on almost every front, you can imagine the real lack of enthusiasm to play and put up with Chris's bullshit, but always down to shitpost.

>get itch to reinstall and spend some time on my decade long investment
>recent news is the game is in one of its most unplayable states
given how utter shit the times I have played it is it even worth coming back to for a but or is it REALLY BAD? last time I played was when they added the second star system.
>>
>>2538774
It's bad, but the consensus is it's not bad as it was during 3.x. Surprisingly there aren't so many crashes this patch, at least for me. The big problem is that systems just stop working or work 50% of the time. If you can live with that, then it's worth checking out again. Just don't do anything that involves a heavy time investment or that can lose ingame money from bugs. Lots of people reporting bugged out missions that won't finish, especially with turn ins. Also, if you have an ironclad, you will be crushed to death if you use it, nevermind the million other bugs, such as command module detaching when it pleases. It's quite laughable.
>>
>>2538774
Worse than when 4.0 went to live for sure. I mean, almost every piece of content and feature added within the last two years is broken in some way and requires eldritch workaround knowledge harnessed by the most masochistic of backers. New ships receive no testing in the PTU, are sold for hundreds of dollars, and remain in a broken state for weeks or months, while old bugs resurface and decade-old systems like the mobi-glass remain nearly unusable. Up until a few hours ago, a lot of people had logged in and were not able to log back in for days. The last time anything like this happened was 3.18, but at least that patch had the excuse of introducing PES, a monumental tech update that touched every aspect of the game in some way, but with 4.8 all they have as an excuse is "breaking player records."
I have to mention the introduction of ship insurance/bricking, but I won't go too in-depth about it here. Basically, they added some pretty harsh aUEC penalties when you want to reclaim your ship with its custom components, while also not fixing ANY bugs that destroy/disappear your ship. You can read it over here, this is our reality going forward:https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum /1/thread/alpha-4-8-vehicle-insuran ce-and-item-bricking-upda/8849042
All in all, they have treated the live environment with such disregard it finally collapsed like the sandcastle it is. Will it get better? They have another sale deadline to meet pretty soon with Alien Week, so take a guess...
>>
>>2538835
>Up until a few hours ago, a lot of people had logged in and were not able to log back in for days.
Alot of people bed logged and couldn't log back in for days*
This problem is dying down abit thanks to hotfixes and the maintenance might solve more cases.

It's never been more over.
For other anons...
Some anon last thread told me to go all deadbolts on the m80. It doesn't seem better or worse than s5 deadbolts with s4 laser cannons. I will say that I attempted gilly 8 with a solo m80. I was able to get the polaris fairly red, but I had to leave and return 3 times to rearm until the polaris just started desyncing vast distances and I gave up.. where is a good weak spot to get a generator kill?

Ill check the stats for you when i get the chance. I did it with corsair myself, but even with perseus my gun crews seem to be shit at getting the reactor while i do get it quite consistently (with perseus) ill check the penetration depth and damage after shields and armor for you and lets see.

Ok, sorry anon.
Turns out im retarded - Deadbolts are not strong enough to go through with shields.
Even my corsair stuff is retarded as the best the deadbolt 4's do is help get the shields down to 80% after which the DB5 penetrates.
Even after that its way too little damage to get the generator down in reasonable time.
I literally wasted your time, my apologies.

I'm the original s4 laser cannon / s5 deadbolt m80 loadout purveyor in the thread. I suspected that the s4 deadbolts weren't doing any damage to hammerheads when using them along with s5, since the hammerhead popped around the same time of sustained fire. s4 laser cannons are capable of dropping the shields on the hammerhead though. I tested full deadbolts on the Polaris. As I said, I was able to destroy components on the Polaris through the shields, but I think only the s5's were doing any work. The shields were taking damage from the all ballistic loadout.
The s4/s5 deadbolts absolutely wrecks things smaller than the hammerhead, but the laser cannons also work well in that regard. I'm thinking s4 lasers cannons and s5 deadbolts might be the best duo for pve at least, and maybe pvp against bigger targets.

pvp is a mess, I woudn't worry about it too much. If you play PU all pvp is a crapshoot anyway. You could be against a vulture or a idris. group of 7 fighters, 3 idrises.. anything really. And most of the time nothing.
Eg. Deadbolt has 1112 projectile speed vs 1390 galdereen repeater (fastest s5)

The pvp vs pve drama is the gayest shit in this game. Carebears need to stfu and prepare to be boarded/destroyed or bring an escort. End of story.
PvE Carebears when confronted with any adversity:
>picrel
>>
>>
>>2543411
I understand the frustration of PvE carebears, but I highly doubt that the level of ganking that they bitch about incessantly on spectrum is actually occurring ingame. It's more likely that they are trying to solo active pvp zones and are getting ass blasted when they get ganked in said pvp zones. You have to actively participate in pvp in order to get ganked in most cases. There are outliers, but again, these outliers would always be solved by bringing numbers.
>>
Me personally? I just bail out the ship and then snipe retard pirates from the deep black as they try to enter it, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the door was already open for some reason.
No escorts required, and certainly no cucked negotiations.
>>
>>2543431
It would help if CIG's game designers weren't all fucking zoomer retards who can't comprehend a game-loop being interesting without combat or pvp.
Every game loop must be inundated with dogshit combat and there's no way at all to get certain materials without pvp.
>>
>>2543431

I've been playing a bit more, and I haven't really seen it a lot lately. I had a single instance where one guy try to ram me while I was in a reclaimer, but his ship deflected and exploded, and then I salvaged it. I haven't even seen signs of it in global chat. The most griefer thing I've seen in global chat recently involved two pve carebears arguing over who got to use the same elevator first. They stayed at an impasse for like an hour, it was honestly insane. Then they both logged, and some rando dude who had been watching the whole thing announced he got all their cargo they were trying to sell.
fuckin people...

I saw in spectrum that tsg had some griefers, twice on the same guy.
Its not impossible, cig designef it like garbage where you can wait in the station and steal all loot when the msision progresses. But to actovely giref and eg. Kill the guy leaving... little odd to hapen to same guy twice.

> 4.8.1 patch is entirely for a new mission type
> New mission is bugged with old(?) issues around NPC hangar doors

This is such a clown show. Remember to grief whales and abandon stock ships on Infront of a hangar at the end of every play session.

Do they have good pay.
Iirc saltemike said that Xenothreat event will pay 4mil, so kinda waiting on that to make real money.
Been doing QVL for what I've needed so far - even without loot it has that 1 mil reward thats kinda fast and easy to get.
>>
>>2544933
The new missions pay out like 50k and include defending a few fuel pods followed by escorting a friendly NPC to a hangar. It is not possible to actually complete the mission because the hangars don't open but even if it was its not good money vs just doing a merc mission.

It has some "cool" elements but whoever made it didnt realize that they NEED to do an atls style exo or it just wont work, if you keep putting pants and shirts on a person, they can no longer move since the radius of their limbs is too large - And this shows in video games by clipping issues. You can see the issues in the legs already. imagine moving..

this looks like a onesie like the novikov and pembroke suits. I think the point is that it does limit your mobility quite a bit but makes you nigh invincible.
I foresee them having a hard time balancing this.
a guy who can't run for cover is going to have to be an absolute tank to make up for it, and they're just going to run into the classic sniper problem, which is also their missile problem; you've introduced dynamite to rock paper scissors. it's going to be a difference of 1hp and your mood that day whether this feels totally oppressive dickhead or an absolutely helpless gimp. it can just become an I win button (or an I lose button) depending on the situation.
pinned down in a long corridor with sporadic cover? he's gonna get you eventually. unless you have a plasma grenade, which he probably can't waddle out of in the space of it's entire burn.

The real problem in cig logic is not how the armor looks.
Its the idea of the armor to begin with.
Its harder for cig to fix ikti to actually work than it is to make a new armor set.
Heavy armor is already what heavy armor should be.
Adding the new armor only serves one purpose.
Make sales.

the flat out % is clearly a legacy thing anyway. Idris railgun also does 40% less damage to heavy armored person.
Will CIG do anything about it?
Maybe, but they clearly don't know how.
I'm tempted to go all out like >>2536561
And start collecting all the features where CIG is swimming against the stream and show what the rest of the game industry would have done (for better or worse) - as guide to CIG if they ever read it, and as an example to player just how fucked up the development of this game REALLY is.
>>
>>2543431
They're actively lying to push a narrative that PVE servers are needed to protect shitters, yes.
In truth they just want easy mode access to the best loot in the game via CZs / Hathor without the PVP. Same thing as the Elite Dangerous community which is a bunch of reddit mods running huge private groups lying about how dangerous open is in order to recruit new players into their private group.
>>
>>
>>2547730
one big problem with CIG that almost no one talks about, is that the reason we keep getting reworks of systems and eternal T0 shit is because the people working on that shit leaves, and no one else knows the code so they just push it to the side and redo it from 0 and the cycle repeats

I don't care if anyone is pro-pve or pro-pvp but the anti-pvp stance will fucking end the game for me, if embraced. I'm not a murder hobo out looking for people to gank, but I do like to engage in open pvp or have the possibility to blast someone whenever and vice versa. It adds tension to the game and makes it exciting. You never know what can happen.
Meanwhile, I can guarantee that pve carebear anti-pvp predditors all watch shit like marvel/dc movies, have names like "Deadly4ss4ssin" or "KillerHero", see themselves as the infallible personal hero of Star Citizen PU, and probably even think they are Han Solo running "smuggling" missions, escaping from gankers left and right. Then they run into a pvp situation and try to pull a "Han shot first" and then proceed to just get their shit wrecked. They then tell the person that killed them in game "I hope you get cancer and die", and then start bitching in chat, spectrum, reddit(ugghh), 4chan about how pvp psychos ruin the game and they need pve only servers.
Actually, I've experienced all of the things I mentioned from the anti-pvp crowd. It's all so tiresome.

The game ONLY works as pvevp, any other version of the game will inevitably fail.
The specifics of how the pvp and pve are handled is far less important than the fundamental choice to keep it this way. However CIG clearly has no clue how to do it or really even a vision of what its supposed to be.

>>2549389
I guess the point is also that the "real pvp" crowd don't exactly play fair. A1 and Griefernet never really attack you with equal force or anything. Only when they are clearly inviting you and even then might just call help if they fuck up.
>>
>>
I don't want to put fuel to the PvP vs PvE fire but I believe the main issue the game has is 1. griefing (essentially exploiting usually) and 2. Lack of player policing.
The interesting part is that people treat this piece of shit game very seriously - many of us (me) included, we look for ways to squeeze out the best money - best content..
But there are people like the medic-larpers who don't really benefit anything past the few moments of action they get.
If some people just sat binging shitty tv shows and talking shit while waiting for there to be need for the popo - we'd have a response to the regular pvp.
Griefing on the otherhand is problematic because the only real cure is to grief them back - which is the way I usually deal with the situation if possible.

Honestly, I see so many people chomping at the bit for an opportunity to fight "griefers" I imagine you could get players to secure locations through global chat and server hop if no one is willing. You also run the risk of inviting griefers though.
Most players hate "griefers" so much, they'd drop what they were doing to gank them. "Griefers" is such a bad term though, I prefer the term in-game politically motivated.
>>
>>2549418
well tfg is titanfall general from back in the day.
You should join MERCH or FML, or make your own org. Its usually worth it even if there are downsides.
>>2549434
Everybody can grief on accident or occasionally. But there is a special breed of players who get their enjoyment purely and solely from removing the enjoyment of others. And there is no better way to do it but to exploit.
My most hilarious example is back from one of the cargo events where a guy was stealing cargo from outpost freight elevators with a Prowler Futility - he was in armstice so nobody could do anything. He started ramming other players etc. to spice it up later. So when we were done in our session, on return trip we went in - saw him on foot and scooped him on the polaris through the cockpit glitch. Flew out of armstice and when he started to realize we already gunned him down.

Game is currently on fire sinking, literally unplayable. The hotfix made things worse. Cig continues to diminish gameplay with things like bricking components that you salvaged or limiting in game credit transfers in an attempt to stop duping or duping related activities. They really did get mad about everyone having billions in game and buying whatever they wanted, kek. And they are banning people in an alpha over using exploits when they should be asking them how to recreate said exploits or just fucking fix it. All of this while selling broken $600 ships with advertisements and now $5000 jpegs.
Ngl, game is starting to legitimately feel like a scam. It used to be defendable early on as crowdfunding, but now, the hand rubbing is almost tangible.
I'm starting to think something happened behind the scenes like a quiet acquisition of the company by private equity.

>SQ42 was not shown off at SGF, all but soft confirming its delay.
All of this took place within the span of the last 24 hours. The sandcastle known as the Persistent Universe has collapsed.

Chris said in interview that SQ42 is coming after GTA6, that then being December - its already clear SQ42 will not be coming out 2026.
I heard that part of CIG loans is for marketing of SQ42, but outside of that they dont have any cash reserves to market the game either.
Considering they want to launch Q1 2027 - then we should see some absolutely crazy bullshit at end of year 2026 for cig to gather marketing funds.

To be abit more clear, pic related was his actual quote. Still has yet to update the official sq42 website to "2027", but one could easily assume they are waiting for the 30 day refund period to pass after the recent DefenseCon sale to announce the delay.

Bravo, CIG!
Should I just buy forza horizons 6 at this point? My steering wheel is starting to get dusty...
