>the likely only reason they didn't bother programming the setting is because they didn't want to code a toggle to temporarily re-enable it for Tera Raid Dens which inherently rely on battle animations to dictate how much time you're wasting while the clock ticks down

Gen 5. I went back to White to get a Kangaskhan so I could complete the Pokedex in Ultra Moon and I was shocked at much faster battles are than in Gen 7. I skipped the Switch games but I can only imagine how lethargic battles have gotten now.

PLA, dont even have to initiate an ecounter battle. Just fight the wild mons yourself with sticky globs. Also PLAs battles are quick and snappy too, unfortunate about the non stop strong / agility style pop ups though.

I'm pretty sure they removed the set battle style and animation skips because they knew SV ran like shit and wanted to hide some load screens behind them
Also the open world coop where people can sometimes almost see what you're doing in battle

Makes the ratings even more based since that means those supposed millions of people regretted buying the game after seeing what was waiting for them just a few minutes in and gave it all those negative reviews

How are battles slow when everyone has like 1 pokemon that dies in one hit and gym leaders aren't level scaled so you're bound to steamroll most of them
Oh and trainers are optional too this time around, because GF has no budget for NPCs with tracking mechanics

>every Pokemon on the field takes Sand/Hail damage individually
>individual animation for each of these events
>text box immediately telling you what just happened
>every burned, poisoned, trapped, seeded, cursed or salted Pokemon takes damage individually
>individual animation for each of these events

Seriously, why the FUCK haven't Gamefreak streamlined this dogshit battle system? Just because it's turn-based doesn't mean it needs to be so fucking slow. They're are JRPG's from the 80's that are faster than this, holy fucking shit.

I seriously can't stand how many textboxes or slow animations there are in these games anymore, it's the number one thing bringing my experience down.
I don't even bother with strategy because status effects, buffing, healing, it all just takes so long.
They know it's a problem too. In the actual game there's a massive pause between multi hit moves but they editted it when making a trailer to not make the game look so bad

Let me break your brain and all the fanboy shitters. The battles aren't slow because of animations. They're slow because the game is SO utterly broken and incompetently made, that those are the loading times to perform a single move.
The animation times are a shit attempt to mask the load time. But if an animation stops early, the screen doesn't move on, it just waits there for like 5 seconds until the shit finally loads.

I'll kick your ass buddy.
The truth is, manbabies don't stop playing Pokémon. New kids start playing Pokémon. The playerbase will continue to grow because we don't ever fuck off while simultaneously every year, a new Timmy becomes sentient enough to own a Switch and play Pokeemens. Now you understand it.

>slow
What? Legends games aside these are the faster battles ever because you don't have a transition into battle and shit, replaying other games for my national dex made me appreciate SV way more precisely for that.

There was a thread the other day where someone wanted your character to be forced to have a party of characters like Hop that follow you around... People want to cram their other special interest game into Pokémon instead of just playing the other games which already cater to that niche.

oh good, it wasn't just me
Platinum feels like a marathon in comparison, jesus fuck. Can't run for 5 meters before your bike lizard stubs its toe on an oddish and the game has to painstakingly load the battle encounter. Play the game longer than 20 minutes and it starts moving like molasses. And every fucking turn has a teeth grinding, eye gouging, absolutely INSUFFERABLE delay between moves selected, moves executed, and ESPECIALLY moves that knock out a pokemon, playing the animations EVERY time.
this thing can rot in the deepest layer of hell.

Ironically enough DP is a faster game because you can alter text speeds, disable animations and have the option to change switch to set. Even at its worst, Pokemon then was infinitely faster than it is now.

Bullshit.
If the people that said this could stick by it, then this board wouldn't be full of dumbfuck oldfags whose biggest complaint about anything released after their 18th birthday is the lack of "le sovl" instead of any of the deeper problems the new game actually have.

It's funny to see this sentiment when Pokémon Battle Revolution and the Colosseum games are way slower and at least the Colosseum games are praised as God's gift to mankind that Gamefreak could never replicate. You're lucky the Pokémon don't drunkenly stumble around before and after each attack like they do in those games. And the projectiles don't launch slow enough that you could probably walk out of the way.

The game on pc runs better than on switch 1 and looks better than on switch 2. It's a good compromise. I did the same thing and half regret it, cause it can genuinely look good in certain areas on pc meanwhile the switch 2 version just has the same plastic look on everything it had on switch 1 but now at 60 fps

>Seriously, why the FUCK haven't Gamefreak streamlined this dogshit battle system?
Because they know you'll buy it anyway, and because a large chunk of their audience actively hates RPGs that aren't Pokemon and refuse to play them, so they will always be ignorant of all the problems with GF's slop that the rest of the genre had already solved decades ago.
>>
>>59072497
>I impulse bought this because I love Pokopia so much
Imagine being retarded enough to impulse-buy Game Freak's known shovelware because a Koei Tecmo game in an entirely different genre was good. GF's skill at manipulating dents like you into opening your velcro wallets never fails to amaze.

Why can't it just be faster with the texts and animations. They're not gameboy games ffs. I might actually be willing to try doing something other than "push super effective move" like status effects or held items if I wasn't punished with long drawn-out animations for doing so
>>
>>
>>59156555
Yeah, I don't get why there's a long pause with each action, also I'm not sure when they also added the pokemon yelling their cry and posing every time a pokemon enters and leaves the field, but that also adds up time.

That sure must be another based thread that'll last all the way to 310 again because there's only ever one single ESL that gets ordered to stop trying to scrape together the last few scraps of broken "English" that thing can scavenge from the dumpster after getting offended by this reminder of how bad that entire "country" smells and keeps trying to cover it up which is the only true sign of what actually got offended
