He's always been by far my least favorite Hitmon to be honest, and I'm counting Tyrogue in on this as well. It just doesn't fit with the others. You have Hitmonlee the kicking master, then Hitmonchan the punching master, then Tyrogue to tie them both together, and then Hitmontop...another kicking master? A kicking master who resembles a spinning top toy. His existence feels pointless.

Beta Hitmontop did look more interesting though I will admit. It looked kinda trippy. These days with Ultra Beasts and Paradox Forms and shit it wouldn't even look that out of place.

Too bad they ditched it though for a more traditional cutesy look.

Reminder that that junk stat is a gift, the Hitmons are one of the few Pokémon who benefited from the special split since they used to have 35 special, they effectively became the 3x better at taking special attacks
As to why game freak hasn’t increased any of their other stats? Their very hesitant to change anything unless a huge mechanical shift is also going on (like how pokemon only gain new types if a new type is added to the game)
