Should've been 90 its genuinely insane how impressive the game is even by RPG standards
>>59042223
Each game is self contained so you dont have to play the previous game to get into the new one

Say one just one (one) thing you like about Pokopia.

The ost slowly going from the simple subdued tracks to full remixes of the Kanto city themes as you rebuild the areas is the most soulful thing the franchise has done with music in a long time. Also helps that I like the Kanto remixes in Pokopia a lot more than the ones in FRLG and LGPE

I'm curious as well. I watched some gameplay on youtube but I couldn't make heads or tails of how the combat actually worked. Maybe I just missed something.

Please fucking tell me the National Park theme is a CD. If I find it, it is never leaving my homes CD player.

Never played 1, but 2 was decent. Got a little samey on combat by the end but the monster raising was fun. Will probably try this too.
Monster Hunter monster designs are probably the only ones in the business to compete with Pokemon in terms of quality.
Maybe dragon quest too those monsters are charming.

>>59042006
I really didn't like the outright rock paper scissors combat, and that every encounter follows the same exact pattern. I haven't kept up with news on the 3rd game but it left a bad taste in my mouth and i dont want to bother.

Just let any other company than Game Freak run the Pokémon IP please
We've already seen they completely shit the bed when releasing non-Pokémon games like Little Town Hero, I'm sure that other game they're working on will also be a flopping pile of shit. It's not even just the higher ups, I'm certain Game Freak is simply full of incompetent people and they don't get fired because the games sell anyways

In terms of setting its like a cross between fire emblem and the pokemon ranger games. The core gameplay loop is exploring semi open world maps to discover monsters who you fight for eggs which you can then hatch into monsters for your own team. Combat involves a RPS system with 6 elements for monsters and 6 weapon types for hunters monsters have different parts you can break like the mainline games which restricts their ability to use certain attacks. In the overworld, each monster has three abilities to for exploitation. You can also give monsters different types via the games equivalent to breeding. Story is alright, nothing amazing but I imagine if youre used to stories in pokemon games you'll find it serviceable.

I have it and the gameplay is still mid as fuck, but I'm a sucker for monhun. You have to remember most posters have never played either game and are just parroting bullshit. It's apples and oranges but I'm playing Pokopia much more than stories.

Would've worked better as a Mew - it would have kept all of the same Transform abilities while looking much better.

If you're into autism simulators like minecraft then from what I've seen this game is best in class
People are making some absurd towns
I dont have the creativity for that kind of thing, but there's no denying the quality of the game

Beat it, got it maybe 4 days ago or so. Pretty much one PokeCenter per day. If I was the type of guy this game was for, I'd definitely get my money's worth. As-is, still got a solid amount of gameplay. One more area might've been too much for me to take.

one thing from the DQB duology that i wish was carried over to this game is the designation of buildings as specific facilities, rather than just plunking mons with certain specialties in them
e.g. if you build four walls and a door with a chest and a ore furnace inside, pokemon with the fire specialty will regularly visit it in order to smelt whatever ore is left in the chest
or if a room contains one or more cooking stations then mons with a trade profession will make basic foods and store them
just to make towns feel more interconnected and purposeful
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>59086599
They literally do that without specific buildings. They’ll occasionally smelt stuff when you’re gone, the community box will be used if someone is near it, and you can build a trade counter instead of using the Pokemart/Pokecenter
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>59088185
the processes are still both tricky and esoteric
if you want a smeltery for both ore and bricks then you need 2 mons with burn and 1 with gather
and i'm not sure even the mon with gather will take items from the mons or stations to put them back in the community box
that, and nobody cooks, not even dente

The ditto protagonist is shown be self-reliant, highly adaptable, sociable, and is never once treated poorly based on their appearance. even if the ditto were a person with Down syndrome what would even be the issue? Im genuinely confused

>game is literally so genuinely good that people have to make shit up to justify shitting on it
>not even making shit up about gameplay or narrative or anything like that, it has to be anecdotal coincidence because they KNOW the game is that solid that any complaints will be debunked or addressed with a "you didn't think outside the box hard enough" eye-opener

It's Pokemon + Minecraft + Animal Crossing + Dragon Quest Builders. Of course it was gonna be a blockbuster hit. Idk why so many people were acting like it wasn't gonna do much. I could tell when it was first revealed that this was gonna be big. And it's not like it had much competition to become the system's killer app, either. MKW was part of a bundle that made the game $50, otherwise you were paying $80, so of course people would opt for the bundle option. Donkey Kong is fun and plays great, but it's not going to move a substantial number of systems. What other new, first party offerings were there? Zelda and Kirby spin-offs? Metroid, a series that couldn't even hit one million copies sold unless you combined both Switch 1 and 2 versions? Pokemon has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the Switch 2, both first with Z-A and now Pokopia.

Yep, I'm thinking it's kino.

It's more like
Minecraft, but your builds actually do shit. (Well, DQ Builders does this more)
Minecraft, there's really no reason to make structures, besides having the structure to look at later. In this & DQB, the things you build actually get put to use by your villagers, and will automate some of that grind if you want them to.
If you want to build a restaraunt, your dudes will actually use it. If you build a giant fuckoff megastructure shaped like a penis, where your villagers sleep in the balls and get ejaculated out to work every morning, you can do this.
DQB does this better, since your villagers are generally much more active, and your builds can be a lot more schizophrenic and still be functional.
>>
Game's okay, I finished the story and got all the legendaries but have no interest in grinding all the environment levels to 10 and building habitats for the remaining ~100 or so Pokemon I haven't seen yet. I think they should've leaned even harder into the Animal Crossing lifesim-esque stuff.
