USUM genuinely has one of the sloppiest frankensteined plots of any videogame I've ever played (I don't typically go out of my way to play dogshit games), and no amount of cool added necrozma lore or wormholes can make me say that I think USUM is better than SM while the entire narrative actively doesn't function.
The ultra recon squad just... having a wormhole opening legendary the entire game is just a massive black hole that destroys the entire chasing cosmog narrative that they just lazily ported from sun and moon that takes up like 7/10ths of the story. Like they genuinely put zero thought into how the new plot elements naturally eroded the existing story, it blows my mind.
People talk about lusamine being character assonated all the time but not enough people talk about how lillie and gladion also got a bullet between the eyes.
The entire REASON for lillies character design is no longer present.

SM Lusamine was too much, she basically went nuts, abused her children, and froze Pokémon to death. The game ends with her being a lifeless potato, while Lillie becomes a trainer in Kanto, looking for Bill.

In USM, she’s now more of an antihero. She believes she’s the only one capable of stopping Necrozma, but nothing really comes of it. Gladion travels to another region and becomes a Champion, Lillie becomes a trainer and Lusamine has an open ended reunion with Mohn.

In the anime, she’s just a busy businesswoman, and Lillie is upset because she gets zero attention. Mohn actually regains his memories, and they become a happy family again
