Espeon + Johto Starter handles almost everything, swap the starter out for Suicune, Umbreon is good for walling things you are trying to catch. Iirc Noctowl gets Hypnosis, so Espeon + Starter/Suicune for combat, Umbreon/Noctowl for catching, and then two shadow pokemon. Umbreon isn't strictly necessary though.

they never ask you to grind, Evice is a big level jump over gonzap and nascour because he's meant to be harder than them. at most the final area of mt battle bridges the gap between nascour and evice but doing area ton won't make up your own level defiency alone.
