Low availability in the games though sadly combined with being very subpar in combat. I don't remember ever even meeting a wild Glameow, just being mad healous of Mars Purugly in Platinum.

Checking the wiki, the only mainline games you can get Glameow in are ORAS mid to late game.

I don't know why you insist that Pearl doesn't exist or that the games weren't out for a year before Pt arrived, but it's weird. Diamond and Pearl don't have many differences besides the exclusives and if you really want a Purugly then go with Pearl over Diamond.

I like how uncommon it has been throughout the series. Gen 4 you could only get it in Pearl, gen 5 in White 2, Gen 6 was the most generous with both ORAS, and it was straight up unavailable in gen 7.
I remember going back to White 2 to get one purely because it was so uncommon and I wanted to flex a bit during gen 7.
