>Fairly short and simple fun game
>But since AVGN made a video strawmanning it, everybody hates it
Sorry zoomers, but it's actually a good game.

Whoa, slow down the pace, Famibot -kun. Not so many threads all at once.

This was my experience. Rentals were only $1 at my local rental place and I still took it back to get a different game. Every time I've tried to play it since then has just been a baffling and unfun experience. I'm sure there's an actual game in there somewhere but it's not the kind of game a kid could just turn on and play and have fun with.

What exactly do you like about it? There's plenty of "kusoge" I ended up really enjoying- Transformers on Famicom, ALF on SMS, Week of Garfield, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Bayou Billy, Nightmare on Elm Street, Yo Noid... I haven't seen you actually make a defense for this game though. I'm sure there IS something good in there, sell me on it.

The US version lost two entire game levels despite having an actually larger ROM size than the Famicom version.
>Famicom version is UNROM
>US version uses an MMC1 board but only has a 32k CHR ROM
>this was not enough to fit all the graphics data from the Famicom Jekyll & Hyde, so the stuff they couldn't fit in the CHR ROM was just left inside the PRG
>consequently, two levels removed but the graphics for them are still in the ROM
Seriously, tf was this about? American kids were literally robbed.

I ended up playing through this for the first time because of this thread (I'm >>12501279). I didn't even know about the Famicom differences or "good" ending until I did a little bit of research prior. Weirdly enough I kind of ended up enjoying it after awhile. The famicom version starts out harder than the US version, but it's less repetitve overall due to not having repeating stages. I wonder what Japs who played this when it was new thought about it?
