Post retro vidya drawings.
Any skill level is welcomed (yes, even you).

These are ugly because they're just quick sketches and I'm way out of practice, but might as well contribute a little. A quick doodle of Ecco to start

And a sketch Lucia hanging out in Raculi that I keep meaning to go back and finish but have been too distracted lately.

These aren't ugly at all... they're fantastic, anon!

I'm drawing Sonic surrounded by Eggman's weapons. I played SegaSonic (Arcade) and I never saw an Eggman so out for blood like that one, Sonic's 1st time being voiced and his only line was "WAAHHH!".

>>12503991
Was the sketch all on the light blue layer, and you do parts in other layers? Why spilt it up?

Thanks, though compared to my older stuff and unfinished ones like this it's pretty quick and shitty. I mostly just don't have the time these days.
>>
>>12504042
The initial sketch was light blue, which is more rough, then I did separate layers for a more defined sketch of the individual elements (Sonic, Eggman and the Hazards) and now I'm going for the final layer with the lineart in black.

>like this it's pretty quick and shitty.
I don't like artists who put themselves down so much about their skills and then proceed to post something like this. It's almost angering and insulting to those who can't draw well.

The level of detail in these is off the charts. I guess you drew it on smaller pieces and paper and tape them together?

Any blog?

>>12505916
nta you would be shocked how much good art relies on the expenditure of a lot of time rather than skill alone
>>
Ah the ol' "bump your thread and delete your bump post" method. Very dishonorable I must say.
>>12503420
Anyway, this drawing is oddly soothing, serene even.

What do you expect? It was needed during the last attempted drawing thread here a few months ago. This board is not exactly bursting at the seems with artists as other boards are. It's an experimental off shoot of the original /v/ / /vg/ drawthread, aiming for a chill atmosphere where people can post their retro vidya drawings.
>>
>>12505916
Yeah, that's a merger of a whole bunch of drawings trying to make sure they will all fit together properly if I ever finish the sketches. I use thick paper for inital drawings then paste them down in layers like here. It would be over 7 feet high if I ever get around to actually finishing it, but don't know if that will actually happen. It's mostly just not worth the time in the end.

Thanks and ironically the only other old piece I could find that's on topic fir old games was also Lucia, this is from 2003 apparently.

Your art is gorgeous. These pictures don't do it justice, you need a higher quality lens to capture the brilliance. Do you post on other drawthreads? Kind funny someone with your level of skill is only lingering here.

>2003
So you've been drawing for a while.
I would love to see more if you have a gallery some place.
I wish you the best in the hopes you can grab more free time in your life to pursue your artly desires.

This was such an asshole thing to say, anon, how rude.

>This was such an asshole thing to say, anon, how rude.

I don't think it was rude at all, a perfectly normal question. The answer is that it mostly just doesn't seem worth the time and effort at this point. So he's correct in that I don't really care. They were quick doodles, but not something I want to spend the time on to improve as much as they could be. Never got into draw threads here. I used to post in other places and have gallery shows, but these days there are easier ways to make money and the attention of showing them publicly isn't as much a draw. So I do art a bit as a hobby now, but mostly other hobbies take that time.

>The answer is that it mostly just doesn't seem worth the time and effort at this point.
But why? You're so good at it. It's like you've fallen out of love with it. Those gallery paintings are great. Did you sell them?
>and the attention of showing them publicly isn't as much a draw.
You used to like the attention and now it does nothing for you, you mean?
>>
>>12509607
Asshole anon here. He very clearly said that the attention isn't as much of a draw which, to me, reads like it was never about attention in the first place. Being good at something doesn't obligate dedicating all your free time to it, especially when doing so leads to a lack of fulfillment. Our time is limited and choosing to do other things is not a tragedy.
>>
>>12507397
If your thread has no interest then you let it die you stupid piece of shit. You are not entitled to a spot on the board for garbage that doesn't interest anyone else.

your art is insane anon.
its really one of the coolest things i've seen posted here, im not convinced you arent some known mangaka.
PLEASE wont you share your alias, i found your old website from the early 2000's but cant find anything else, i really love your drawings

Cmon, is it your first day?

I never really did it for attention, I always drew a lot because I'm hyper visual and the only way to get certain images out of my brain is to make them real. The way I work is much too slow for most commercial art though and I've never been great at doing what other people want so that's why it was mostly just gallery stuff or specific commissions. As an example, this >>12505376 is probably about 500 hours of drawing and the piece os maybe 1/4 done if I were to finish and then paint it.

>>12510049
I assume you mean my old deviantart, that's where I mostly used to post stuff. If not though it might be somewhere that reposted things without my knowing. But sad to you perhaps I've never been a manga artist and other than Pontiff of Zargos haven't really used an alias. I've done some commercial work that's mostly not anywhere online and commissions, other than that it's been more of the arty art type stuff, but I tend not to put most of it on the internet.

>I always drew a lot because I'm hyper visual and the only way to get certain images out of my brain is to make them real.
That sounds like both a blessing and a curse.
>is probably about 500 hours of drawing and the piece os maybe 1/4 done if I were to finish and then paint it.
Wow. 500 hours!
>but I tend not to put most of it on the internet.
Shame, but I guess you have your reasons.
The rendering on the bear fur is fantastic! Looks so soft and thick.
>>
>>12511228
Forgot to say, it's too bad you're not into writing. If you could tell a good story, you'd be able to draw such stunning visuals and characters. I'd say you could be hired to draw someone else's story, but as you say you take too long and are not great at doing what others want.
>>
>>12511228
it was a .ca domain name and your deviantart profile lists you as being canadian, plus it was plastered with a bunch of art similar to what's visible on the former so i'm assuming it was your website.
maybe you're just that old you forgot.
either way, your art is cool so thank you for sharing, i will be oggling what i can scrape from your uploads.
>>12510180
a reverse image search is hardly stalking and anon shouldn't be surprised if he posts his art and people like it enough to want to see more.
>>
>>12512037
Weird, I am Canadian so it likely is and I forgot. It doesn't come up if I reverse image search though which is kinda funny.

For me it'll always be Tom Cavanagh in his Canadian tuxedo.

Actually can you post the link to it? Reverse image search of what I posted here doesn't find anything, I'm curious if there's work up there I also forgot about.
