It's honestly kinda disappointing that American kusoge died with the Atari 2600. Imagine if the NES had some real E.T. tier gems made by single artists doing something weird and new.

you're taking the term too literally. kusoge isn't just a shitty game, it's a game that is shitty but in a charming way. ET atari is a perfect example. you're going actually going to have fun with the gameplay, but it's so fucking audacious that you're amused by the ways in which it is bad.

Stop writing like an unbearable faggot.
Also I remember some project from early 10s that tried to patch E.T. and general cnsensus from that experiment was that it was pretty close to being pretty decent game with few very minor adjustments. It was not completely shitty game as clueless zoomers want it to be but just a very ambitious for its time project dragged down literally into the ground by few minor but noticeable flaws.
In a world where devs would have to playtest it and adjust all the flawed parts, this would be probably the first big game based on a movie.

>goes to Universal Studios and pitches his proposal for an ET video game
>Steven Spielberg was like "tf man? can't we just do something like Pac-Man instead?"
when even a literal boomer like Spielberg who knew nothing about vidya thought this was a bad idea, it tells you something

No, no. This is just zoomer revisionism. E.T. was literally the worst game ever made in the history of the hobby, and was so monumentally terrible that it single-handedly destroyed the entire video game industry. This is why we've all been playing board games since 1983.
It's a shame, really. I would liked to have seen what might have been. Could you imagine what a video game made today would look like?

>wapanese
Man that takes me back. I remember watching a terrible quality 2000s youtube video titled 'Wapanese' where this dude played a caricature of a weeb and it ended with him pretending to bang a Pikachu plushie. I laughed my 12 year old ass off. It was FILLED with countless seething hate comments which made it all the funnier.
I would say trolling died in 2010 or even before. Everyone's fucking grandmother is aware and immune to it now.

Getting schadenfreude over children's disappointment collectively in hindsight doesn't make a game a kusoge. The game itself has to make you feel the same way decades later.
You don't know what a kusoge is to a Japanese audienceand you never will.

You sound like a zoomer that got his info from some Youtuber faggot. E.T. was mediocre game at worst that got dragged down by multiple minor issues.
>>12504779 Mentioned it, so I'll drop the link to project that analyzed and fixed most of the problems. The game is still nothing to sign praises about, but it shows that is was very close to be actually functional and not really that bad.

People completely miss the most important part of why E.T. was such a commercial failure - it's not just that it was a bad game because there's literal hundreds of shittier games even on Atari 2600 itself. It was a game connected to extremely popular at the time movie. It was anticipated by everyone, heavily advertised and produced in quantities that would be unreasonable even if it was successful. Everyone expected to be blown out of their seats by most ambitious title in history of gaming and instead they got barely playable and not really fun piece of crap. If E.T. would be just a bad game but there would no expectations and millions of dollars wasted on it, it would be just another forgotten title.
Hell, compare it to another highly anticipated Atari 2600 title - E.T. looks and plays beautifully when you compare it to fucking port of Pac-Man. That's the genuinely awful game.

>Wiggers are a thousand times more honorable and worthy of respect than weebs
no, it's the same fucking thing. people who are ashamed of being white and think the Other that they exoticize is cooler.
it's okay to be white, you don't have to talk like a black dude you saw on twitter and you don't have to worship japanese media. be yourself, enjoy other things too.
