What do you do when you can't beat a final boss? Do you just give up and file the whole thing away forever. I feel retro videogames are too difficult in general.

I don't remember this guy being particularly tough. People overexaggerate Dracula X's final boss too.

That guy can go to hell. I think I had two slivers of health left when I beat him last playthrough

Did you collect all the Zero parts? That let's you conserve resources. He's really not too bad after you figure him out. If he disappears wait a second and dash away, for the 5 energy balls thatbtarget you dash to the wall, climb it and dash jump off. For every thing else dash jump onto the wall and dash jump off of it. You just want to try to get him hom on the edge of the room so you have more time to react. Use his weakness. 2nd form is easy as long as you have enough health to endure the final phase of it. It just takes a long time and the previous fight was intended to make you use all your sub tanks.

Nigga this is an easy Dracula fight. Just stack up enough subweapons (boomerang or axe work fine) and hit him while keeping him distant so that you can easily avoid his projectiles or jump over the fire of the second phase. Third phase is a joke as he's literally falling apart at that point.

>could never beat mmx3
That mech suit part is fucking bullshit because there are unavoidable attacks and you have to shoot him right in the head while there's a 50/50 chance he'll just start hovering and you won't hit him at all. Some of the bosses are fucking ridiculous unless you cheese their weakness. Some of them don't help much at all, Blast Hornet is completely nullified by the gravity attack, Byte still kicks your ass regardless of what you use, that dragonfly boss is one of the easiest boss fights in any game ever. I dontneven know his weakness cause I never tried anything but buster.

IIRC, this only happened once playing Robocco Wars on the famicom. The game's easy, but the final stage is a giant maze and the boss is way too hard. The worst thing is that if you die you lose all your powerups so you're better off starting the game from the start. Years later I used save states and had my revenge.

Nah they're all avoidable. You're supposed to jump over him and dash under him when he's floating, not to just stay in front of him where you barely have any space to manouver.
What's actually difficult about that boss is hitting his weak spot with the absolute dogshit X3 arm upgrade. That alone makes the fight ten times harder.

I gave up on Actraiser's final boss rush because I had used all my magic up on previous battles and was not expecting to fight everything all over again in a row. Restarted the game when I came back to it, and saved every magic cast for the boss rush.

Every 5 or so years I play Ecco 1 all the way through without savestates or cheats. I can get through Welcome to the Machine no problem but I've never been able to beat the final boss.
I refuse to look up guides or watch videos.
I refuse to savestate at the start of the final boss to practice and learn how to beat it.
I refuse any and all help.
Even after being diagnosed with a potentially fatal illness and knowing that I might actually die without ever beating it, I still refuse.
If I'm ever going to beat it, it's going to be legit. Otherwise I just don't deserve to see the ending.

If I'm having fun fighting the boss, or at least making some kind of concrete process, I'll keep throwing myself at it and try to overcome it through sheer force of attempts.
If I'm not having fun and making no progress, and I don't actually care that much about the game, I'll just drop it. There's no point in forcing yourself to go through a miserable experience just for bragging rights or as an expression of spite. You'll be much happier in the long run if you just move onto the next game.
If I'm not having fun, and I'm not making progress, but I really care about the game and I love it EXCEPT FOR this one FUCKING BULLSHIT final boss fight, I'll see if I can get some hints that will point me in the right direction without giving the solution away, and if I'm still helpless and miserable after that, I'll look up a guide.

Based. I still haven't beaten BG&E, I've been dragging it since literally childhood because I never understood how to beat the boss. I replayed the game countless times as a kid and once as an adult (getting stuck even earlier this time kek). I still don't know how to beat it and if my version of Jade never got to figure it out, then so be it.
