>Sonic had a rough transition to 3D
>Yet this is Sonic's first 3D debut
Does anybody really believe this retarded meme? And no, 3D blast is 2.5D isometric and Sonic R isn't mainline so Sonic Adventure IS the first mainline 3D entry and it was extremely well received.

SM64’s controls are easy to learn, hard to master. The tutorial levels are just too hard from the get-go. If they’d started with the secret Princess slide, JRB, or even SSL, I think the difficulty curve would have smoothed tremendously.
Contrast with Sonic which has frustratingly easy controls that make you wish you had more fine-grained control than “vector off in that direction at infinite speed”.

>the game with 3D in the title isn't actually 3D
>full 3D game doesn't count for arbitrary reasons
there was also the half-pipe in sonic 2 and sonic x-treme
it was a rough transition but he got through alright

It's rather intuitive, you press buttons and things happen

>all of this non-3D shit is actually the transition to 3D
whatever mental gymnastics works for you, reality says otherwise though.

Like, there's a good chance you'll just straight up no clip through the stage at any time in either SA game. I remember doing so the very first time I played through the killer whale sequence. Immediately, this was playing them on Gamecube, not Dreamcast, so maybe the ports were extra jank.

The collision detection, physics and animations are still janky there, just not as much so as DX

SONIC, had a rough transition to 3D, but Knuckles and Gamma are Kino. We need a 3D Knuckles game, maybe a Tooievania, or a 2D Shadow game that could be like Mega Man X meets Sonic Advance, or Shadow mixed with JSRF
