Because RPGs were the best selling genre; so they did RPGs everything on Famicom. Action RPG, Strategy RPG, SHMUP RPG, Board games RPGs, fighting RPGs, football RPG, adventure RPG (I know that sounds redundant), beat em up RPG, fishing RPG, and even Mahjong RPG
One could even say Taito Grand Prix is a racing RPG or CARPG but I wouldn't go that far

same reason you'd turn a baseball game into a dating sim; an incentive to get invested in the game beyond playing for 20 minute bursts

you can go on dates, I don't know the specifics beyond that. no translation available for it or the sequels. same with Prism Court, which is basically the same thing but for volleyball

to be fair if you have watched the anime it was like 2 or 3 episodes to do some shit passing the ball there and there
and the pitch was like the size of a country
they'd run and like it'd never end
then there's all the special shoots kicks and shit
oh and let's not forget all the friendship and fucking drama ffs
it was hella bonkers but yeah if you grew up with it it was cool and fun
sure they could have take the route of dragon ball like budokai or whatever but yeah
i played one at some point i think it was on playstation tho can't remember tbf
but i guess the hardware limitation or something perhaps they couldn't figure it out how to make a good fun game out of it
so this is not really turning a soccer game into a rpg again

Because managing your bunch of little niggers kicking an inflated pig bladder around is more fun than actually controlling them in real life. It was especially real then when consoles were limiting the mechanics of sports games to bare minimum, but even nowadays most fun and interesting part of sports games is optimizing your stats and strats.

>>12608283
let's just say things were different back then and nippons always had a fucking knack for autismo anyway
most would be disappointed back then when turning a game up and finding out it was some shit you didn't know what to do with it
it's possibly more fast and intuitive to just press some button and see the reaction on screen i guess

WHOA, actual CHAD and SOUL, congrats OP
There's only a handful of games capable of getting across the screen the beauty and emotion of a sport

SEABASS-SAMA's left us WE9 and WE2000 so we can enjoy the most balanced form of digital football forever, managing and techincal gameplay, it all matters

Based. I don't like "playing" spreadsheets or having to wrangle a bunch of niggers around to vaguely do what I want.

3 and it's not even close. Best move would be to play 2 and then 3 tho
have yet to play Sega CD's CT, looking from videos feels a bit off, like much less snappy than classic CT games
Boys Soccer Team for the Genesis, even if it's a burger-washed version of CT, still has the series' great gameplay

I don't know how familiar you are with the Tsubasa manga/anime.
CT MegaCD is basically CT 3 with improved graphics and audio thanks to the CD support, also allowing for dubbing and more animations in the story cutscenes.
The game follows the story of the first part of the manga/anime (elementary and middle school story arc).
CT 1-2-3-4-5 are connected to each other as the games continue to follow their own story (Tecmo Universe) from the series, adding characters, teams, and future scenarios to the Tsubasa story that are exclusive to the Tecmo games.
Gameplay differences are small between the various games; 1 is a bit rougher, then 2-3-4 have few differences (only specifics for series experts, such as poor balance, strength of volleys in 4, and similar). 5 changes the graphical view, and changing the view adds small "action" elements like jumps.
Game length from shortest to longest: CT1/CT3/CT MegaCD/CT2/CT5/CT4.
CT4, with its different story-changing routes, is the one with the longest playtime.
At the end of CT5 a challenge/appointment is launched for CT 6, which unfortunately will never be released.
Tecmo probably lost the rights and Bandai will release the J.
If there were a CT 6 beta, I'd love to try it.
I also hope, given the release of various retro game collections, that sooner or later a CT Collection containing all the Tecmo games will be released.

I wish the new games had some RPG elements, World Fighters looks really cool and it's nice they're doing World Youth, but I played Rise of New Champions and I kind of sucked at it.

DS CT was good but they really butchered the PAL version by removing all voices.
I really miss these "cinematic" games the SNES got, Captain Tsubasa, the Dragon Ball Gokuden games and Yu Yu Hakusho also got 2 games with some very unique gameplay.

5>3>4>J
J had some good ideas, but it's broken as hell. It's pretty much Bandai slop from the 90s.
>>
>>12611739
Yes, unfortunately the PAL version is butchered without the voices, it looks like a Western release made in the 90s.
The SNES also has Slam Dunk and Slam Dunk on Gameboy and GameGear isn't bad either or Dodge Danpei 1 and 2 on the NES.

>The best thing is that they're incredibly easy to learn even if you can't read Japanese. It's a shame that the Captain Tsubasa 2 remake was hit with a C&D short before being finished.
What? Was it a fan game? Like who snitched it?

Not very much, but I do remember watching the anime. I distinctly remember a Rivaldo lookalike character called Rivaul.

A fan game made by an Argentinian. Since the original game was pretty much decompiled he took the data and made a new game with anime graphics. Here's a short, but a few streamers played the demo before being killed.

Yeah if you ever make a fan game based on a ime shit, SHUT THE FUCK UP, don't trust no one, keep it to yourself until it gets done and if you are just learning shit, here's what you do, it takes more time and seems painful and tedious, but here's what you can do.
You make dummie assets that are original, so you use them to get your project done, whatever you handle beta testing or others, they do coding or building for you, etc, then once the main engine and code and behavior logic is done you fucking swap all the assets for the ones you wanted and the you release the fan game for free!

These games are especially popular in latin america.
They make videos about them all the time, and are considered "Family classics" (they call the console Family because of Family Game, the taiwan clones of the Family Computer they got back in the early 90s)

Sadly those games are on the megadrive 4 an official licensed megadrive console but somehow they butchered adding a nes board with games included (there is a limit to how many megadrives you can sell and you can't just release same old console with small change on appearance).
Your pic reveals a lot, the jewtuber is using an emulator but with bilinear filtering as AVGN well we know not many work with real hardware unless yukkuri retro.

So, the Road to 2002 anime, the club team arc was created years after the games and has nothing in common with the Tecmo games' stories.
>>12614992
Yes, it's very likely, that text would be hardcoded into it.
It would be much simpler and more feasible to replace the dubbing with a fandub, as has already been done for some games.
However, I don't think CT MegaCD is popular enough for a fandub translation to be created. The positive aspect, is that CT MegaCD faithfully follows the original story so translating it isn't very important if you already know the manga/anime although it would be nice to have it translated.
>>12615136
Tecmo, the base is CT3 with graphic and sound upgrade.

NO!, Dear lord please, NO!
Only the gwangos want that shit! its just more subversion and you shouldnt be ok with it!, no smarmy responces to deflect, just dont do this.
