I don't like the controller because it limits controls in the multiplats, it didnt get enough multi plats, a lot of the exclusives aren't that good, the 1st party ninendo games kind of suck(mario, zelda, star fox, all series I like, 1080 and wave race were better on 64), metroid prime is unique but it doesn't interest me, f zero gx seems like a good f zero game but I dont like the original or x, I don't know. I only really liked Rogue Squadron, Pikmin and Animal Crossing and other than the star wars game I didn't even really like them that much. It's funny but with almost every retro game I've played, I felt the ratings were just about right. That said, there were few exceptions… Games I felt were "overrated or aged poorly" were: SMB1 Mario Land 2 Wario Land II Castlevania IV Metroid Zero Mission Mega Man Legends Dishonorable mention to FF6, because for how much hype it gets, I just couldn't finish it and the plot felt like a joke. Oh and Zelda MM because fuck this game

Spyro the dragon is an incredibly overrated shiny turd. People act like it stands toe to toe with Mario 64 but its really what I call a "performative platformer." You're basically controlling a tank that can glide and dash, and it just so happens the worlds are perfectly designed to accommodate this. Meanwhile Mario64 really feels like you're navigating an acrobat through crazy obstacle courses.
I can understand why ps1-only kiddos may have deluded themselves into thinking Spyro is good tho. What I don't understand is how anyone ever deceived their brains into thinking Crash Bandicoot is fun. The whole mainline series is souless janky slop. I remember loving CTR and then thinking "what the fuck is this" when I went back to explore the originals.

Some of the shit isn't even that hard, it's just tedious and annoying. The 1st time you figure it out and pull it off it's cool, it's really not much fun on a 2nd playthrough. So yeah, good game, cool story as long as you never go back to it after you're done.

I genuinely do not understand the hype, it was a mid adventure game with shitty combat and popularized the gayest mechanic in video games baring QTEs that being scanning shit. If not for the wankfest around this game I would dismiss it but I think this just might have been a lot of peoples first FPS. I don't hate it but I'll never play it again.
