I've never actually played any FF past 6 but it never made sense why everybody jerks off the lol so randumb clown when Exdeath mogs him

Lavos as a concept still freaks me out. The game does a fantastic job at showing just how horrifying he his by showing him literally destroying the world in 1999. Combined with the music and that godawful cry he does, he really manages to feel alien. I like that they resisted the urge to explain too much about him so your imagination fills in a lot of the blanks about him.
Even once you manage to destroy him, the game ends on a bittersweet note with the knowledge that there might be billions of Lavos out in the universe that repeat the cycle.

Ashtar has been one of my favorites forever.
A+ design, dialogue dripping with mockery, and one of the most iconic introductions in gaming. Jaquio can't hold a candle to him.

Skeleton Grunty has way more soul than (generic green witch).
I loved this design and how much more unhinged she was in Tooie than in the first game. I didn't miss the rhyming and I love how she was just a total bitch during your whole adventure, she owned her own theme park and factory and shit. I remember going into the fortune telling tent in Witchy World and she'd just beat the shit out of you with no way to retaliate. She pretty much just let her sisters get crushed to death at the end too.
(She honestly reminded me a lot of my mom when I was younger so maybe that's why I have more reverence for this version of her)

Definitely Ocelot, but only in MGS1-3
4 and later games make him too absurd, even the retroactive writing for 5 makes him into a bizarre character compared to how he was chronologically before and immediately after
3-1-2 is the only sensible character progression
