Heavily armored hard hitting fighter/ warrior types are the best class in every rpg
>but if you babysit the caster for 60 hours and carefully manage mana or spells lots he will eventually be able to cheese all the fights
Its tedious and annoying. The more warrior types on the team, the smoother and more enjoyable the experience will be. Less resource management, less chance of wipes and restarts and most rewarding because fighters actually get to use all the loot. Casting that one spell that circumvents everything with your uber mage circumvents the fun too. And if you're an rp type, the warriors are more grounded and connect better to the story and world than any other character type. Rogues are evil, paladins are self righteous, rangers are too disconnected. Warrior is just right.
Take the fighterpill

Your post has almost nothing to do with my post because you focused on an important detail, the image which is just a random cool fighter from an rpg (chosen for thematic appropriateness). Even still, medic isn't the one doing the killing in etrian 1, the protector and landsknect are the real heroes. You dont even need immunize.

personally I like lightly to mid armored fighter/thief. anything ranging from a rogue to a ranger as long as they remain agile and have some streetwise skills/utility outside of hitting things hard

Why not just shoot enemies?

>What if you run out of bullets?
What if your blade will get dull? Just make sure that everybody's dead before that happens!

But that tension is a lot of the fun. One fighter for a tank and easy clearing of trash mobs and then a bunch of magic users for fun strategy is always my go to.

As much as I like guns, realistically speaking, when put into a typical dungeon dive I see nothing but drawbacks - high maintenance (enourmous amount of bullets required, repairs and maintenance, easy to break with external force, corrosion from high humidity, et c.), extremely loud (1 shot and everyone on the level is instantly alerted of your location), dangerous to your party (ricoshet in tight corridors is a bitch) and high cost. I can see elite adventurers using them for boss fights (anti-material and full-auto with frangibles especially), but before that - it's bow and arrow for you.

>rangers are too disconnected
That's just plain wrong. Good ones are always protectors that seek to eradicate monsters, evil ones are obsessive hunters seeking most rare and dangerous prey. They're most likely to explore dungeons and have abilities most suited to do so.

>aristocrats only got where they are through aggressive nepotism and ladder pulling
No, what you’re describing was when the merchant caste replaced and subjugated the nobility, which happened hundreds of years ago. You’ve been psyopped so hard for your entire life that you can’t even conceive of the concept of true nobility.

classes are composite features of a "party" in an "rpg" those who focus on "muh human warrior" meme are self-inserters who think they are the class and the character, so they have to be the "killer" because that's the "main character" and not the "gay" "support". why? no friends and no conception of teamwork.

The funny thing is that idea that dude with a sword = best archetype for protagonist is childish and incorrect.
The real protagonist is a support class. Someone who will always be crucial in and out of combat but will rarely act as center of attention. A natural born manipulator making things and people fall where they belong.

The most fun classes are the ones that benefit from being in smaller parties, Etrian has two of these; Hero and Ninja.
