Eh I support the idea. It not only makes Jade Dragon more than just a cheat mode, giving an incentive to actually try it, thank to all other special events it gets, but it's also somewhat unreasonable for the six thousand year old dragon to suddenly fall for your dumb teenage self. You are a couple hundred years to young for that.

They can just sit home, use buffer's barrier to get a bit of aura each year and every couple of days generate a shard or two by condensing their chi. The blacksmith probably gets the most of it if he wants to stay in his job, the herbalist has to go full alchemist because picking reagents is too dangerous but the trapper father might get kneecapped.

i understand but i think i will still disagree. the impression she gives is that she just loves life/the world, down to the smallest things, i don't think she ever once treated simple people like you would expect from a being that old and powerful and the small things of life were never bellow her (then again i did not do all routes and she's a new character)
so i think that if the feeling did appear, it also makes sense that she would accept

Nta but it happened to me once on a previous build. If you don't play Kiihakai, go for the pelt and don't select her in Harehama/skip the tavern for extra time on sea, it is possible to get not enough romance flags to sleep with her on Guarded Blossom.
But that was on the previous build, you can get more flags in her personal quest now. But I also think you can kill the romance if you decide to fish instead of holding her hand when returning.

As of the most recent update, I no longer have the option to buy out the tavern at which you are staying in ch9, no clue if it's intentionally removed.
On the other note, same as it ever was, bloodfuel doesn't work.
>>
>>3958187
Oh yeah and another thing I've noticed is that the guard points from the kiihakai technique do not disappear when you unfocus it. The game still retains the guard points and prevents damage with an empty name in place of the technique name.

Mercy towards your enemies is almost always a suckers game.Killing the lightbringer sets a permament variable and sakura does mention her finishing off the fish pisses off the wild god. So assuming it ever shows up again, it will very quickly turn into your problem.
I say not getting the godthreaded belt is a far bigger problem though.

It's annoying to access the different menus through the stat screen. You can easily just make a new button for handseals/alchemy/techniques/etc with twine so I don't see this autistic need to keep COG's shitty UI.
>>
>>
>>
>>3958388
Yin elements are Darkness, Earth, Ice and Water
Yang elements are Wind, Storm, Light, Water and Fire
First element that you choose in Chapter 3 Shugendo training will always go into Yin Slot (1st slot)
Storm Element (Chapter 3), Darkness Element (Chapter 5), Water Element (Chapter 6) or Memorywell Elixir Elements will go into first free slot that is availiable
Fire Element from burned tavern will always go to Yang Slot (2nd slot)
You optimally want to get yin element in your yin slot and same for yang.
Gets better bonuses when you equip the elemental crests
>>
>>
The element system in AC is way too complicated. There are too many of them and a couple feel redundant. Like, why does ice need to be its own element when water exists? And the order of the yin yang element being locked means your basically required to use the memorywell elixir on yourself since some of them can't be acquired in your Yang slot through other means.

>You can easily just make a new button for handseals/alchemy/techniques
Not a bad idea
>>
>>3958405
I realized that was basically true, so I already changed it on the ch9 release to automatically apply yang elements to your 2nd slot (yang) if it's open. Also the reason Ice, Light, and Darkness are elements at all is AC was originally supposed to be a tabletop card game and I wanted 8 elements so that four players could have 2 without buying a second set of cards. I made the IF to advertise the shitty card game, then it blew up so I dropped the card game.
>>
>>3958405
My issue is more balance wise. I do not think it's better to advance them over your main style so , they stay novice rank and you just boost with items.
Unless they were hidden if you lack requirements, I do not think anything in chapters 8/9 required beyond Adept
>>
>>3958411
For each point of mastery you get a bigger boost to checks where they are used. Being a novice gives a plus one to check, expert plus two and so on, same thing with the styles. The only advancement that's almost always better for the style is the Daichi one that gives a technique, the rest just depend on what you want.
>>
>>
Finally beaten the last chapter, now the waiting begins again
As a sidenote, I tried drinking the memory well elixir around the time during Sakura fight and I couldn't pick to boost my Fire element despite the Dragon trial finale being in a Fire & Earth(?) gate according to Jack. Not sure if bug or an oversight since anon probably didn't expect anyone to still have the elixir at this point
Time to replay and give it to Jin so I can actually see his part of the last chapter instead of jobbing
Someone please give me a qrd on how to check the code like here >>3957948

Water is both yin and yang. I think anon was concerned that water, an element that is notoriously ignored in fiction, would be ignored in Aura Clash as well so he made it easier to implement in builds as a freebie.
The thing is, we are mostly in coastal areas for now so he also has to write it to interact with it, thus making the element decently strong.

Kind of a shame that if you already have water from the temple, you still end up with level 2. Anon could have at least given a bit of AP as a consolation prize. Even the deception bonus is not that good if you intend to cash the writ in for a skillbook.

if this isn't proof of a shill OP, then i don't know what is
>>
>>3958572
A lesson for the future runs. And it's not like you need that insight boost with how abundant insight raising bonuses are. I think a real shame is that light still doesn't have a a non-temple related method to be acquired. I remember someone saying that fighting lightbringer would give you the opportunity to do so but I haven't seen that option.
>>
>>3958574
I think that Rin's quest which was cut could partially help with that. It's supposed to be another shugendo training with her and Desdemona. Depending how it's going to be designed, it could take less time but not give a skill point, so if you go water you can still benefit from Gong's teaching you, or you can pick light and something else later with Angelo.
>>
>>
>>3958579
>so if you go water you can still benefit from Gong's teaching you
You still do. The only thing you miss out if you grab water element in ch6 is some loot and an artifact that boosts your yang element that is arguably worthless because it doesn't raise a skill. Even on runs without water element, I pretty much never use it.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3958585
>You still do.
You can get up to 3 skill points from him. One of your choice from the skillbook, one to persuasion from his technique, and the last one to deception if it is 1 or 0.
If you pick water in the temple, you get a free point to deception and if you have enough loot in your ships, you get a technique that gives you another one, thus raising it to 2, which makes you waste a point.
>>
>>
>>
>>3958630
My bad, maybe it was 3 instead. I remember missing it once long ago, maybe I played a kitsune kiihakai with water shugendo then.
But on the other side, you don't really need that much deception. Even if you have 2 points after Gong's tutelage, you can float one extra point by handseals and another one by equipping the kusarigama from Guiren's quest so you end up with 4 and the one point you put into something else contributes to your build.
>>
>>3958634
That's the thing though. It's all passive gain from stuff you were doing already as a kitsune
>+1 from racial that also makes your handseals cheaper
>+1 from a technique that you primarly use to lower the price of everything by 10%
>+1 from gong that's just a bonus to getting a skill book and a skill that lowers the price of everything by another 10%
That's already enough to beat basically every deception check. Then you can also get another +1 deception when forming a foundation with Yang's help on top of a free element, skill and core improvement.
And then yeah, you can also just equip that sword you get for free from guiren's quest for another free point of deception, Though I just create several weapons that are all enchanted with a different skill boost anyway to switch them in and out as another set of handseals.
>>
>>3958619
Anon, you're talking to a tranny raid. Aura Clash is the only game made from these threads when some anon asked for a big tiddy goth gf (we got Desdemon). >Wind Water
I know it'd be too much annoying and troublesome to code all that shit but am I the only one who feels like it'd be cooler if some elements were a hidden combo? Like Wind and Water forming Storm, or Light and Darkness forming some Yingyang shit.
>>
>>
>>
>>3958662
True, but it WOULD be cool. I just generally enjoy combo abilities.
It would also help because I like the storm ability but using it alongside water feels redundant, despite water being very useful in this game.

I'd argue Officer has a more flourishing meta. Infinity only has one build where you don't intentionally shoot yourself in the foot (the one where you're great at everything), Officer has three (pick two stats and dump the third, you can't be good at everything and all combinations are viable).
>>3958748
>hardcoded to limit you to 25
I just so happen to have a save with 26, so apparently that's not the case.
>>
>>3958783
Malocchio supposedly adds 10 to the limit, so either the limit isn't there anymore, the limit isn't working or mallocchio is working as intended.
>Officer has three (pick two stats and dump the third, you can't be good at everything and all combinations are viable)
Only the case if you are playing into the Enders Game gimmick of playing as a kid. 18 year old start + either admiral's child or mining ship captain's child gives you enough stats to excel at every aspect short of some absurd 75+ checks.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3958783
What are you talking about. The so called optimal build in Sabers cannot clear one absurd soldiering check in the secret mission in guns. This means that it is not the best in all scenarios so there's no reason to call the game unbalanced and boring.
I still don't understand why Wang refuses to fix how stupid the stat gains are in Sabers or some way to increase stats in Guns or Lord's.

The hell are you talking about? It was always a good skill. I always take at least 2 points before leaving for the trials.
>>3959303
It's pretty easy if you focus on catching the beasts. And if you have Steelthread Alliance on your side, one of them will appear just before the last part of the trial to gift you a horse if you are under 3.
Exact choices depend on your route but in my last run, I was able to get 3 beasts thanks to Steelthread and also execute the scorpion beast for its treasure.
>>
>>
>>3959350
>I guess someone would want most skill to have a good payoff at ranks 4-5
I take 2 points of craft because I can easily increase it to 3 at will, and multiple checks want just that number, but with some gear or techniques I can raise it further to 4 or 5 if I need it.
On multiple occasions, craft can let you bypass another check that you could fail, and at multiple instances, it lets you make some decent money. It's a good skill, the only thing that needs to be corrected is for it to generate more guard points for armor. I don't think it works as intended as of now.

Started playing Aura Clash yesterday when I finally saw an ad on my phone that wasn't some gay pedo tranny discord groomer shit, and I'm enjoying it so far. I girlfriended the beggar girl but then fucked the priestess and then went back and fucked the beggar some more in the woods. I don't feel bad because I'm possessed by saikyo or however the chi is cycled, and I'm trying to be honorable and ruthless but I keep becoming too gentle, probably because I chose Aoyusumu
Chosen element ice and I picked up fire earlier during the whole farmlands debacle
I'm about to suck up a thundercloud the day before the tournament thing, beforehand I've managed to get my aura pressure up to 650 and my cores are at 4/3/2/5, not sure if that's good. I neglected most of my skills in favor of persuasion early on so it's at 6, but just now during the year of training I did manage to get handseals up to 3 (with the one that can boost it +1) so cycling got cheap enough with the passive handseal that makes it cheaper that I went ahead and converted my silver to shards and just dumped shards into cycling so I could get more cores. I got the weighted suit too and have been using it throughout, including fucking my beggar girlfriend kek.
Other than that I taught her and the twins the buffing secret technique that I also studied so they're a bit stronger if I need them in the future, I have one underling from the farm mission. I managed to get all of my basic abilities to at least one point except deception and thievery because I'm a Justicechad, so hopefully I stop failing easy checks and losing bits of aura pressure.
Don't know what else to say about the journey so far other than that Crusher Jack son heemed me in the first fight since I was putting everything into Persuasion, I have a merchant family/childhood, and I handled the second Crusher Jack encounter by jumping off the cliff and then throwing him off the cliff after absorbing the gate or whatever.

Good enough. I was thinking about trying to scrape through early game and merchantmaxx to late power scale, but for a while the options to actually make money seemed limited except for whatever the merchant dad did, so I decided to just cycle it up. Probably should have converted my six gold coins too but I couldn't help thinking they might be able to buy different things in the "real world" later on. I also absorbed the book that blood gay was using, but didn't lean into the human sacrifice at all, so I might have handicapped myself a bit by not either destroying it for good guy points, or trading it for profits, or getting the full use out of it and going full emo mode.
Also eating all the shards I could even after getting a foundation seemed like the play early on based on the few cultivation manga I read (martial peak/that one I always forget the name of where you are a prince with a spirit mother and reincarnate into the corpse of the peasant boy you fought with and then go be a spirit stone mining slave for a whole arc in a mountain mine with a yeti and so on)
They do always be absorbing those medicines and crystals and fruits and so on no matter how broke they get

It's not that you just don't have cores. You don't have chi at all. Meaning you can't power handseals or do alchemy without proper tools.Atleast that's supposed to be the logic here, it kinda falls apart because you do use handseals like the one Leona gives you to instantly change clothes, or the one that lets you store equipment without trouble.

It's alright and the game isn't particularly difficult, but you could push it way higher. I usually end chapter 3 with about 1200 - 1300 AP by getting the most out of cycling.
But since you remember to actually use cycling, I doubt you'll have many problems down the line or on repeat playthroughs.

Not in Aura Clash but many of the choicescript games set you up for failure if you spread too thinly and the difficulty curve takes over you so you end up failing constantly. It was one of the criticisms we discussed years ago and I suspect anon took it to heart when designing his game.

I had an idea for a sort of cultivation webcomic I wanted to make back years ago, but instead of cultivation it would actually fuse a lot of other pan-eastern mysticism influences and energy systems that you can sort of discover, specialize in, and get synergies between like you get synergies within different styles and techniques of actual cultivation
I was going to use it to practice drawing but I'm better at writing and I think it's better as a written story maybe with some AI scenery and character art anyways like soul clash has
But on the other hand it was going to be part cultivation parody, part general anime culture parody, and the other half just mindlessly indulging my specific fetish over and over to the point that also becomes parody
But I don't know where I can freely host something with nsfw elements, even if they were confined to text only
Or if anyone would even have any interest in it, I mean I'd be making it mostly for my own amusement but I have absolutely no money to spare to host my own site for something like that (because I have spent it all on spirit medicines naturally)
And I worry that the depth, breadth and detail of my fusion magic systems and worldbuilding and descriptive paragraphs might clash with everything being a joke and the constant erotic content under various pretenses, for potential players

You can always write it in choicescript and host it on cogdemos, though if you wanted to sell it, it's a horrible publisher that will fleece you.
That said, writing it first in choicescript to siphon the audience from their gay forum to later rewrite your game in another engine is the most based thing you can do.
>>
>>3959525
Interesting. I'm not sure what choicescript is all about, I only know like c, python, a little js. Is it easy?
Or can you tell me a bit about what it is/what cogdemos is? I don't know about any of these communities or how to get people to try my game. I also didn't know there was really a market for interactive fiction games, should I be trying to establish my own site eventually and ad-fund it?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3959529
>Is it easy?
It's the "engine" that even non-coders can use. Cogkikes capitalize on that so even midwits can write their shitty games. And even the sloppiest of slops there find some audience, which translates to patreon bucks.
>Or can you tell me a bit about what it is/what cogdemos is?
https://cogdemos.ink/ is a hosting website for games written in choicescript that belongs to this damn company https://www.choiceofgames.com/
Unfortunately for everyone, they hold a de facto monopoly and offer the worst possible contracts while acting holier than thou, but their forum is big so starting out there, building your audience and fucking them in the ass at a good moment is the best strategy for anyone that is able to write in anything other than choicescript. Cultivator anon made his own company out of spite when they tried to screw him over, you can read about it here https://www.auraclash.com/#gamedev
I would advise you to check any decentish game they made and then read their code. Aura Clash was the most mechanically complicated game that was written in choicescript before he rewrote it in twine but the old code is still accessible here https://cogdemos.ink/play/cultivator-anon/aura-clash/mygame
Just click code and pick whatever chapter you want.
You can also check Gutshot. https://cogdemos.ink/play/dividom/gutshot/mygame
It's mechanically much simpler but designed competently, compared to other games.
Sabres, Guns and Lords of Infinity are other examples of slightly more complicated code that works. After checking them out, you will notice how easy it is to write in it.
>>
>>
>>3959529
>I also didn't know there was really a market for interactive fiction games
There is and they eat up the worst slop. Wayhaven is utter trash but brings outrageous amounts of money each month https://www.patreon.com/seraphinitegames
People there love their wish-fulfillment fantasy dating sims. There is also an audience for a more typical adventure games but ever since Wayhaven dropped, the tide shifted to shitty otome/faggot slop.
>should I be trying to establish my own site eventually and ad-fund it?
The ideal plan is to get free advertisement from their forum while cashing in patreon bucks and when your audience is sufficiently big, you leave the choicescript build and move to twine or some other engine. If you can avoid getting banned, it's best to transition just before finishing your game. To avoid it, never mention browsing 4chan, they hate us just like we hate them. If you make a discord, don't hesitate to ban the worst retards so they can't easily use it as an excuse to kick you out early. Do not post here under your trip, avoid drama here or there and leave on your terms when you can't exploit them any more than you already have.
>>
>>3959530
I meant for my game, do you mean like a general site to host interactive fiction? I was just thinking about all of this as a hobby but I AM extremely poor so please tell me what demand pockets I can cynically exploit or however the path to power is formed.
>>3959537
Interesting. So should I be writing it in Aurillian, maybe at the same time as in choicescript to swap over later? And then just host the Aurillian version on my own website, I'm guessing it uses a js stack of some sort?
I'm sort of thinking about stitching together 3 or 4 similar settings/stories/systems I've been iterating on in my mind for some years, but mechanically it wouldn't be that much more complex than Aura Clash, kind of similar actually which is why playing it got me thinking about it.
Basically the main additions would be a sort of complicated reputation system and probably a toggle to make it vanilla/SFW/kink specific, though that would require a little more writing on my part. I might even end up not implementing the full generally accepted cultivation base that pretty much all real cultivation stories and manga start from, just part of it, so even with my own several stat systems I want to bring into it, it could end up simpler than Aura Clash for stats.
I'm a pretty good writer and already have some small programming background so I really just need to be pointed in a good direction and know how to do some web stuff like hold the cookies or whatever for the character/progress in the browser and I could start now, I mean I work too so not full time but if you guys are interested I guess I could start writing/using/learning the systems and give updates.

>Interesting. So should I be writing it in Aurillian, maybe at the same time as in choicescript to swap over later?
Yes, it's a decent idea. You could have Aurillian build a little delayed compared to choicescript because on top of possible patreons, you also get critics and bugtesters. Let them play your game, find bugs, offer suggestion and when your newest chapter has them implemented and working, translate it to the other engine.
About the rest of the logistics, you have to talk with cultivator anon. He mentioned he is interested in publishing other authors and he is motivated more by spite rather than greed here so if you humiliate Cogkikes he might decide to handwave some stuff, but he obviously won't publish everything, so talk to him about what your game is supposed to be and if he is okay with it. And even if it's too raunchy, he will likely offer some advice. He wasn't against people copying his mechanics from the choicescript days, for reference.
>>3959544
Just don't ever admit you are you when you are posting here. And there is also zaper who is their author but visits every now and then, and he is fine. Just remember, if they hate you, they will try to shit on you for being a channer. Ah, one more important thing. They will expect you to bend the knee, add faggot romance and probably trannies too. If your game is small, they might ignore it but if you get considerable traction and refuse to submit, expect they will start painting you as a nazi chud and look for an excuse to ban you. The thread after they banned cultivator anon was seething at them. You can probably find it in the archive if you are interested.

Niggy Diggy started out with faggot romance and his excuse is that he was forced to chud out because of the tyrannical Putin. In their eyes, he already passed the humiliation ritual and poma is a femdom shit either way. Moreover, poma is a never-ending story. He will never publish it because of how shit their terms are, patreon bucks are just better and more stable than whatever pennies Jason will throw you.
It's just a different business practice that stems from the fact that cog discourages you from finishing your game.

So the thing is basically that the average player may not care but there is the usual nexusmodsesque cabal of top posters/mods ruining things? So I want to play by their rules to maximize engagement and pull people to a Patreon, then when I drop their engine just announce it in their forums and also on my Patreon?
I wasn't even thinking about a Patreon to start with, I think I have like 0.00000% non-germanic blood in me so the whole crowdfunding/get paid for unfinished thing is very hard for me to get into the mindset of even though I understand the psychology of it in theory.
An idea I had before reading your latest replies was to build the non-cog version of it "in secret" without any publication, just code and test it for feature parity, and then maybe a bit before I do the switch I could make a Patreon post saying how I was hitting the limits of the cog engine abilities and needed to switch to something soon, with a poll for switching now, switching later, or other option like suggest a third party solution. Then after an appropriate delay I bring in the alternate version along with a new update.
So to go along with that, couldn't I just add enough token bullshit into the cog version to satisfy them without repelling everyone else, and then just never put it in the other version at all and tell my patrons or whatever that I didn't have time to port everything over and wanted to put out a new update focusing on the core aspects of the game first, then just never ever add back anything I don't want to in the future updates, and let them cancel their uhhhh goybucks or whatever? Or is there some sort of liability witht hat?

>So the thing is basically that the average player may not care but there is the usual nexusmodsesque cabal of top posters/mods ruining things?
Their mods are the worst cocksuckers you can find but a vast majority of their userbase is also retarded spiritual californians who bow to trannies, faggots and niggers. There is a subset of chud-adjacent players who just want to play good games and put up with faggotry because there is no other way, but flanderizing it all to "moderation bad" is a gross oversimplification that might bite you in the ass.
>I wasn't even thinking about a Patreon to start with
I wouldn't be surprised if patreon bucks were bigger than your sales revenue. I highly advise you to reconsider that stance.
>I could make a Patreon post saying how I was hitting the limits of the cog engine abilities and needed to switch to something soon, with a poll for switching now, switching later, or other option like suggest a third party solution. Then after an appropriate delay I bring in the alternate version along with a new update.
Not a bad idea but personally I would pick something like "To my highest disappointment I was lately informed about multiple misconducts by CoG and their staff [insert list of their pathetic drama here] and as such, I can't in good conscience publish under them and finance [remind of the most egregious shit they done here], and as such, I decided to self-publish."
Cultivator anon drama was not the only one, there was that about Avery Moore if I remember her name correctly, or when Lisa Nguyen and a bunch of other people did an exodus. You can also mention how you are disgusted that their moderator expressed his desire to exterminate Europeans.

Tell them some bullshit explanation how you do not feel like writing gay romances yet as it is a genre you are yet to explore and you are worried to not come off as flanderizing and fetishy. Delay it for years if anyone mentions it but don't make your code "anti-gay" (they were seething hard when anon did it, kek) and encourage people to mod it so they can romance whoever they want, but remind them that with some luck, they will get the true well written gay romance (TM) if they wait 5 to 10 years. Then move to another engine and never address it again or explain that you tried and failed to get into gay erotica so everything you tried to write was bad and implementing it would lower the quality of your work :^)
Also add something in the other engine to mess with people if they artificially try to trigger romance flags if you want to be extra cheeky.

Itch.io hosts tons of text only porn games, Faggot95 will host your shit as long as it has any porn elements and the mods there don't decide to have a personal issue with you, but it's a piracy forum that's not really interested in text games so the exposure from there will be minimal
You can try Steam and GOG, but again that market isn't really interested in text only games

Well written despite the glairing lack of choices in the prologue, but the author said there would be more meaningful choices in the first chapter.
>>
>>
>>3959784
that's actually putting it lightly, cogites were on the authors throat when it came to certain characters.
but, per the author's words:
>It’s the prologue so you’re really not going to get the type of big branching you’ll get in the main game. Railroading is kind of the point of any prologue tbf. Mainly in this part, part 2 has a fair bit of choices. Point being, MC HAS to do certain things to set up the context in the first episode. It’s incorrect to think of it as a normal IF, when the prologue is essentially closer to a flashback sequence which canonically has to lead to episode 1.
episode one will supposedly have more freedom of choice, the wip is worth keeping an eye on i think

Making a prologue so long is a terrible sign no matter the content. A proloue is meant to set the stage and give the reader a small introduction to the story before the main narrative begins, in a book it should be a few pages long at most.
If they are calling it a prologue, then they are either droning too much about world building that should be done in the actual chapter, or they are abusing the term to give you an unnecessarily long backstory.

The foreword makes it seem like it's either a failed book or the author is absolutely lying that there's already 6 chapters finished but he can only publish the prologue. I'm leaning towards the latter with him saying he's the only one coding and that being the bottleneck on release progress but the game's future somehow still being secured even if he gets bored of coding

I wish I didn't
This isn't a game about fame or the dark secrets of fame or even romance like the forum post implies, it's a game about being an autistic retard that's being bullied at school (GOOD. He deserves it for making me read how every word is actually something else doing an action)
>well written
It's not, it's writting that can't just say someone is smiling, it has to say their face beams like it wants to shoot lasers, it can't just say someone is mean, it has to say they turned into a mouth full of teeth that want to bite. I'd be fine with it if it was just for the music and dancing sections, that'd be good, but this is for EVERY. FUCKING. SENTENCE. And despite this, it still manages to say fuck all. Cece isn't even a person as much as she's "golden beads in her hair and gold hoops in her ears". It's her defining character trait, to the point it comes up in every single description of her, which comes up every time she appears in the story
I can't even finish the prologue, no idea how close I was, but I can't take this writing any more. That, and there's too much pointless shit that adds nothing. What does the visit to the zoo achieve? NOTHING. Why do I get 10 different choices about how I want to sing to the parrots if none of them change anything

And why does EVERYONE talk like that? You're some neurodivergent autist that hears music, sure, but why does the piano girl talk like that, why does the trans (?) one talk like that, why are her younger siblings talking like that, EVEN YOUR DAD TALKS LIKE THIS
This is again, utter shit. If it was just you, then whatever, it would make you stand out and hammer home the point that you're an autist (with the subtlety of a hydraulic press and very much to the detriment of how enjoyable it is to read), but literally everyone talks like this, it makes it hard to get immersed - on top of, again, coming of as extremely pretentious

i think it was just a throwaway line, like you said the rest of the game makes no references to E being trans or their old name
nor does the journal/diary section in the stats mention anything about their gender

>During the prologue MC is more guided by the author than by the player, by intention
>I could throw in multiple romance options and heavy branching this early, but they'd be shallow
The forced romance in the prologue is one of the more shallow ones i've read in any IF so far.
The romance literally comes out of nowhere, what meaningful interactions did we have with E or whatever that gave the implication that we were together romantically? I read the whole prologue from beginning to end, and nothing, i mean NOTHING in the game indicated that we were together, or in a situationship throughout the latter half of our childhood.
The childhood friend is the most annoying, a spoiled brat who you're forced to be friends with all because your dads are best buds, and you're forced to grovel before her even after she tortured you.
The author has to realize that the prologue is the readers first impression of the game, people who read these for the choice aspects are immediately going to nope the fuck out.
And readers who are only in it for the romance are also going to nope the fuck out, especially after what happens at the end of the prologue.
I really hope the author makes some changes, this book has potential, it really does.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3960058
I don't understand some author fixation in making the childhood or backstory section so long and obtuse. You don't need to show every instance of you eating lunch with your childhood friend to tell you that you are close, just one or two scenes are enough. Leave the important world shattering events for the actual story.
>>
>>3960066
No need for the ritual, just reading the demonic manual in ch2 or absorbing the corrupted gate in ch5 will do it.

>is Fortitude still the god stat?
Back in the day, you could put everything into fortitude and wait for the enemy to trip and fall to their deaths. You can still sort of try to win fights in that way but anon realised it was silly and added a damage counter to more fights. If you don't pass it, you might not get the result you were aiming for.

Why would you ever focus on a single stat?
So long as you manage to get a decent AP count (1000+ by the time you get the check during the walk, 1500+ by time you reach Nanhou) you can spread out and still beat basically every check, even if you need to use some cores
My guy only has 2.2k by chapter 9, and he's still got an 8/8/8 score and full victories

I see. It looks pretty interesting. I'm still finding them out, but I'm not quite sure which one would be best.
I will say that Flayed sounds the "coolest" by sole virtue that it means gigaweight training for all of the AP, though I have no idea how much that'll even matter at this point in the story.
>>
>>
Flayed God is by far the coolest foundation and false immortality is a great boon from the roleplay perspective. The only downside is that it doesn't offer boosting any skill so if anon decides to suddenly increase their difficulty, it may become a bit troublesome.

>Zodiac
+ Element Mastery
+ Lunargoth Runes Improvement (Never used them before because I didn't need to, so this could be cool)
+ Acessory Slot
- Lame Mentor
- Your ultimate is to summon mahoraga
>Flayed
+APMaxxing
+ Coolest Mentor
+Beast companion
-Not really anything special
-Health is a non-issue if you're not playing mortal limits
>Jade Lotus
+ Third Element
+ Timewarp
+ Healing other people, basically the Aoyusumu pick (I have Aoyusumu)
- Not much in the way of powah increase
- Chi has never been an issue
It's really hard to pick.

Only once you become an Archon, I assume this is at least 2 chapters away and by then it's going to be relevant for only a few scenes I imagine

nah, 5 chi isn't that big of a deal and "increase AP over time" means everytime there's a timepass check. Buffer Barrier you learn in ch3 works that way and that thing will just be more than 2 AP per tick. But having weighted clothing also gives you AP every timepass check and kaito will be buffing that.
The real argument for picking Eldra is +1 to all skills pseudo-JDF, and since I've already decided not to play as a JDF I don't see a reason to start in ch9. Harmony is potentially cool but that shit's for when you are archon in the second book; ie not within our lifetime.
>>
>>3960432
>The real argument for picking Eldra is +1 to all skills pseudo-JDF, and since I've already decided not to play as a JDF I don't see a reason to start in ch9.
And her training is so fucking lame. Don't get me wrong, it's logical that she can snap her fingers and have you healed and the scenes with her and your family are so comfy but as a cool factor it fails so flat. With Kaito you die a million times to trick your body into regenerating broken cores, with Yang you travel the world, excavate ruins and leverage the collective unconsciousness in a ritual fixing you and with Eldra you do yoga poses. It's as if anon subtly mocked jadecucks.
>>
>>
>>3960436
>jadecuck seething
You don't have eternal life or agelessness. You only have some shitty dragon's soul without even his memories. You are not him technically, just his incarnation. When you inevitably die, your soul is reincarnated as another person completely. Your shitty "immortality" is chump's choice.
>>
>>
>>3960438
The thing is, you don't obtain immortality in the world of Aura Clash. You either die of old age or ascend and no one even knows what happens to you then. Kaito offers a way to win outside this system. Even Eldra died many times and she has the upside of retaining all of her memories. A jadecuck MC is stuck in this limbo where he is being replaced by another incarnation time and time again.
As long as you manage to be just weak enough not to have the Heavens smite you, Kaito's option wins by a landslide. And all of it by lifting hard.
>>
>>
>>
>>3960443
>You're still gonna be forced to ascend eventually
Only if your AP gets too high and there are ways to stop gathering it altogether. So get Flayed God, lift until you almost reach that level and then walk around as the strongest immortal being in a world of mortals.
>>
>>
>>
>>3960448
Sakura finds them by the dozen when she ambushes you in front of Thunderfall pagoda and Leona's Sunbringers seem unbothered by being used as cannon fodder to test how good the bank guards are or forced into prostitution. And even if they are bothered, they're too intimidated by Leona to do anything about it, same way you can force your men to swim right into fish rampage for some lootboxes
>>
>>3960449
Let me rephrase it then.
Try finding 20 niggers who as a group are strong enough to threaten a walking god and convince them to jump him even though they know 19 of them will die.
Just to remind you, the number of archons or equivalent combatants is not that high and no country or organization will risk them in a fight that is not absolutely necessary.
To incite the creation of a coalition hellbent on destroying you regardless of price you have to probably become the worst demonic cultivator, and that's unnecessary because you already have immortality.
Kaito wins, Flayed Godchads win, jadecucks lose.
>>
>>3960450
>Try finding 20 niggers who as a group are strong enough to threaten a walking god and convince them to jump him even though they know 19 of them will die
>but not the archons, they don't count
The only reason the trials are happening is because they need new Archon recruits after the previous ones presumably died. I don't know why people with higher AP would be less willing to sacrifice themselves than mercenaries or low level martial artists. I'm willing to bet there's going to be at least some Archons dying soon against Akuma lords and I'm willing to bet another group will beYou and your harem against Jack (forma el tigre blanco) in the finale
>>
>>3960455
>The only reason the trials are happening is because they need new Archon recruits after the previous ones presumably died.
They died during a war that was inevitable. They won't attack someone strong enough to swat them just because they feel like it.
>I don't know why people with higher AP would be less willing to sacrifice themselves than mercenaries or low level martial artists.
Please, don't be retarded. Almost none of them "sacrifice" themselves. Sakura's hired goons always think that they will survive and are protected by the Nakamoto clan until they aren't. If you show them she cracked her cores, they even join you. It's always about taking risks and estimating them, with desperate losers accepting the worst odds.
Even the Rabbit Trial tests your ability to evade threats and delay them if that's impossible.
>>but not the archons, they don't count
Tell me how do you convince the archonate to hunt a peak power that is neither a demonic cultivator nor an active threat to the Empire? They even tolerate the Divine General because antagonising him is not worth it, and the guy is considered a traitor and usurper.

It grows by the interest rate every timepass tick.
In ch7-8 it's when the the tiger trial is about to start, when your siblings trial is about to start and when the dragon trial is about to start.
ch9 also has 3 timepass moments.
I can atleast narratively understand you getting locked out of the bank even though it sucks because ch9 alone chokes over 3000 shards out of you. Your keystone is attuned to your chi. You don't have chi so your assets are frozen. With jews you lose.

If you can subjugate Sakura and prevent her father from fucking with you, and find another alliance through Jin's marriage, why not?
>>3960491
I don't know man, I just play. I always go for merchants but improve to junks before the tiger trial. My favourite background is herbalist too and wasn't akakiru run so I didn't even get the free boost from Leona.
On top of my head about the more secret gains to strength is tearing down Sakura's poster and siccing my men on her goons afterward, having enough of them to summon my henchmen after Leona's quest, buying dedicated gi's for everyone with high morale and assigning 3 ships to fish, if rolls are good you get a bit of strength, AP, a weak treasure and also one of civillians become a martial. As you can see, there is still a big enough buffer even if you don't do all of that.
Picrel are my stats after beating Sakura.

There's a bunch of opportunities to raise it in nanhou, you just have to be on lookout for them.Barring having high persuasion in ch5 to get as many retainers as possible and improving them by making them fight, there's another big bonus in ch6.If you let the bandits in ch2 go free or you make them raid sunbringers with the deception check (free if you agreed with kosuke to start an extortion racket at the start of the mission), in ch6 you meet them again as pirates hanging out with Qing. You can tell them to switch sides and they do, giving you a bunch of retainers and martials as well as a free ship

In ch2
>1 skill book you can steal from the sect
>1 skill you can get if you keep but don't use the cursed tome
In ch3
>3 skill books you can buy at a market
>factorum blessing that lets you raise a 0 level skill to 1
>3 turns you can spend raising a skill
>1 skill raise from the temple when you select an element
>raising handseals to 5 (4 for kiihakai) while having all 4 skill raising seals lets you raise a skill of your choice by 1 when you open the Handseal menu.
>raising alchemy to 3 also lets you raise a skill of your choice when you open the alchemy menu. In both cases, the handseal skill/alchemy necessary must come from normal skill raising, not a handseal bonusbut you can use the handseal bonus prior to the skill raise: for example use handseals to raise alchemy from 1 to 2 and then use a skill book or a skill raising event to push it to 3 and that will count
That's the gist of the initially available skills.
Then you have all the techniques you can get, skill books in Nanhou, artifacts, weapon enchantments, etc.
>>
>>3960518
>1 skill book you can steal from the sect
Hmm, see, that's kind of part of the issue right? Especially in the early game, to get skill you need skill. When stealing, choosing skill means loosing out on like 100 AP. Having enough skill to take everything means losing out on a bunch of other skillchecks.
I'll probably just keep having to re-do the first chapter until I figure out some good path.
>>
>>3960521
The soul core you steal instead of the book is not that important unless you go full Alchemy route, the skill book opens more options at that point in most scenarios.
You can simply do multiple playthroughs instead of autistically trying to find the perfect run.
>>
>>3960521
It's easy if you give up and just choose to steal 1 thing.
Stealing everything is where the real challenge of optimizing chapter 1 lies since you need 3 combined stealth+thievery + a handseal bonus to either while also not missing out on other bonuses like
>having 1 craft to make a portrait of mao seething
>having 2 lore to unlock both jin's and rin's auras
>having 2 insight to unlock kosuke's aura
Personally I've managed to map out the exact route necessary to squeeze out everything out of chapter 1 as a kitsune merchant to get all the bonuses without sacrificing persuasion or handseals to be used in ch3 shard cycling. So I know for a fact that it's possible to do.
>>
>>
>>3960523
NTA but I did do multiple playthroughs and I still haven't managed to get one where I succeed at any actually challenging skill check, including
>buying purple robes for 50 prestige
>the 2000AP skill check in Dessy quest or the 1000AP one on the road some anon mentioned ITT (wasn't even aware that's a thing)
>buying a black belt
I'm gonna have to wait for the game to fully release and someone else to spoonfeed me the optimal route before I see this content most likely
>>
>>3960523
>unless you go full Alchemy route
Realistically speaking there's only really three skillpaths worth going
>Kitsune Merchant
>Akakiru Craftsman
>Alchemist
Alchemist is the only one of those you can slot into pretty much any build and it'll work perfectly. You also get an automatic 8/7 for the Snake Trial, and can net you a scorpion beast on the Horse Trial.

In ch2 you have an opportunity to either train, hang out with kosuke or hang out with your family.
Picking that option gives you an opportunity to train either jin or rin to unlock their auras and give them extra combat strength. That is unless you have 2 lore, then you can just train both of them at once.It also has a hidden 2 athletics check to give them another point in combat strength but optimising 2 athletics into my merchant build in ch1 is simply too autistic even for the amount of tism I've already put into it.

It's usually not an issue, but sometimes your cores end up being drained by events and you don't get any choice to actually heal them for a long time.
There's also stuff like the fucking Hidan wannabe in the Dragon Trial mines, I watched the retard bleed to death while I just chugged elixirs.
>>
>>3960743
Happens to me on battle-hardening runs. I don't technically use them in most cases but if for some reason you got stuck on some damage check on Mortal Limits, you could load up a save, make a pill or two and pass the fight without redistributing your cores.
That said, you probably don't need to use it if you know the game.
>>
>>3960735
Depends on which pills. Replenishers are basically mandatory for people who went independent, since you don't get access to thunderfalls full chi/core restore every night and are still occasionally useful.
Core restoration is basically a meme, you aren't likely to be in the AP range to constantly be surging cores, more often than not, you'll just be failing checks alltogether.
Ch9 is an exception because you start the fight with almost nothing but you can just buy a whole set of restoration pills for a fraction of what they are actually worth immediately prior to the boss fight.
They MIGHT become more useful if future chapters start throwing more [ridiculously high solo core requirement] checks at you because late in the game you are far more likely to be able to surge 4-5 points at a time.
>>
>>3960748
I don't think anon will do a big jump in difficulty and that's probably for the best. People here played AC for a long time and can optimize runs to a high degree but at some point the game will come out and we will have new friends.
Significant spikes in difficulty between chapters could be punishing to them and force anon to rebalance the game in the worst case.

I didn't take it because regardless of whether Mao is a cunt, you wouldn't be there without the sect, even if it's just because of Big Chu or because the mission they sent you on is what basically put you on the path to becoming a big boy.
And speaking of the sect, I've been doing some runs, and I think that Stealth and Thiefmaxxing to rob the sect is actually the best option. You get a skill manual, a soul treasure that can boost you up by like 100 AP if you get the right alchemy event, and enough reagents you don't have to waste your money on them.
Now while this does mean you technically lost 2 skillpoints that could have been elsewhere, having 2 stealth and 2 thievery pretty much sets you for the whole game on those skills. You *might* need more if you want to really maxx, but between techniques and handseals you're basically set. Also, you wanna have enough thievery and stealth in the early game to rob the caravan to get the key to your cage.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3960837
Does it matter? You get a whole ass island anyway. You already had ships, too. And now you are 100% a favored big boy, which we were told means you were supposed to be showered with gifts but have yet to see it happen.
>>
>>
>>
>>3960838
>which we were told means you were supposed to be showered with gifts but have yet to see it happen
If you were in the top 5 last chapter you get a gift in the new one before the trials from a faction of your choice (at least 6 favor (not wild lands)). I only know that the mystic samurai is completely useless and the divine lands gift from heaven could be used to bypass some skill check I think in the stallion trial, but I forgot what exactly

>>3960851
Yeah it was on my honorable akakiru run. What exactly is the synergy between blacksmiths and being evil? It was also a demonic run (every run is) and I don't remember any blacksmith specific interactions for those parts
>>
>>
>>3960851
Even as if you aren't an alchemist, you only need like...what, 3 skillpoints on it? 2 If you have some equipment that raises it.
It used to be that alchemy stacked, I believe, so you could get stupid crazy AP from soul treasures...but nowadays, it only goes up to 4. There's no reason to ever get it up to 5 or 6, as far as I know.
>>
>>3960851
>lmao nobody fucking picks Tanner
My main character picked trapper for the cool bird but admittedly I've soured on it a bit recently since while it's no blacksmith the combat checks are rarely useful outside of flavor when you know how to get good amounts of AP

>do choices matter?
Some of them, but most don't. Early on you get to pick what job you want and there's a lot of scenes of you hanging out at work doing some B-plot that so far hasn't connected to the main story in any way and according to the forum page changes who your non-superhero RO will be. I don't think I'll replay it just to see those few scenes, but I picked factory wagie and the other job is a CEO of tech giant that is about to be merged with the not-Amanda Waller that sponsors your avengers team. I'd be impressed if the author managed to make both feel the same
On the other hand, tons of other options don't matter - decide to kill villains in the prologue, doesn't come up until chapter 10 and only because the team's autist killed someone - not you. Your only input is picrel and no one on your team acknowledges that you're also fine with killing people despite how they just reacted to the kill
The powers are the most overcomplicated garbage I've seen since Hero or Villain while at the same time only coming up in the story about once per chapter, your suit is entirely cosmetic with no impact on gameplay - actually that's false, the game doesn't even bother describing the suit after the initial barbie dress up section (I'm tired of superhero games treating your costume as an afterthrough instead of pivotal element of both your indentity and arsenal)

Cont because my soul has no wit
There's 2 more times your choices matter
Near the start of the game, you have to pick a route. I'm not sure what the difference between different routes is, but you get it before you meet any of the characters these routes are about. If you don't look up the forum post for the game, picrel is all the information you receive. No personality, no word about what they look like, nothing. Sure you can save and play the first portion of all of them but it's still stupid that it forces you into committing to a route with no information
Second thing are the karma choices. These choices are utterly disconnected from one another. Here's a real example - Your coworker calls you so you decide that you didn't fall behind at work (-1 karma), so during the villain pov interlude you pick to let an old man you never meet choke to death (+1 karma) so that 7 chapters later you have enough karma for a completely different villain to only get 1 of the 3 macguffins instead of them all. But all of them operate on the same resource of karma points (you start at 0 and can go 3 in either direction before it maxes out) so they are connected to one another by it. I'm on chapter 10, there's only been a few of these choices so far and I've already maxed out my positive karma (fucked myself over on every opportunity). So far the game hasn't acknowledged it, maybe it's an ending check. And even then I'm not sure what the old man dying actually screwed over so I'm not sure if that choice mattered either
>>3960920
>30 ways to do the same thing
I consider that overcomplicated
>>
>>
>>3960940
Cheating is cheap. What I miss is glitches. Glitching your way into power is fine and good because it's using the game as released, no outside tools.
I remember being able to mess up the saves in a way I got a skill manual without using the book itself, allowing me to double dip. I don't think it works no more.

The game mentions a couple of times that registering the ship will be annoying or difficult or expensive. It wouldn't surprise me that you have to be buddies with Fuyu to get it without being requisitioned, or are forced to pay Fuyu or something. If you are a pirate, you take it automatically but that does not mean there will be no consequences for it.

It's got an advantage on shard cycle maxxing so go Merchant, save up your cash, buff handseals and soul as much as possible until chapter 3 starts and you can buy the Hungry Something Ritual at the store, then cycle damn near every shard you have. Also, pickpocket with kosuke in childhood so you can cycle twice as soon as you learn to cycle. Best returns.
>>
>>3961241
Same as Kitsune, I think maxing alch is still better than going all in on handseals (especially since they got unjustly nerfed), but you can do both with persuation and handseals lvl 3 and alchmaxing.
Also is the technique that lets you get to 20k ap by menuing for an hour still in the game?
>>
>>3961261
I'm pretty sure Handseals is still way more powerful than Alchemy when it comes to raising AP
Alchemy basically stops mattering at 4, after that you only need to raise it like, once with a handseal for the surge bonus and when you're using a trasure.
>>
>>3961241
Oni and Kitsune get highest value out of cycling at 6 handseals, so 5+1 is what you are aiming for. Then you are left with a choice of how much you want to compromise on the rest of your skills vs boosting persuasion for more money from selling dads shop and the painting of mao. Basically, get as much money as you can in ch3, push your handseals to 6 and cycle it all while putting most cores into soul. Each soul core raised the ap you get from cycling by 1. I generally aim to have 8 soul cores and 4 in other 3 by the time i fight tian fang.

If I went through a route with all of the soul treasures, I'd probably get a pretty similar number, even with just 4+1 alchemy.
Instead, I still get enough AP to beat any check, AND my extra skills let me get all other stuff that doesn't concern AP. Trial Points, Items, Blackbelts, Junkfleet....

I was going through the game, and I just realized something. You have these options, and obviously, it seems like a split between spare or kill, but like...isn't capturing him just gonna get him executed anyway?
I mean, he's a pirate, right? And he doesn't appear again, right? So isn't he just dying in both options?
>>
>>
>>
>>3961314
Thunderfalled doesn't even predict that walking the plank would kill him because what kind of pirate, and a cultivator, doesn't know how to swim? But to answer your question honestly, if he walks the plank you will get his hat and maybe he will start haunting you.
>>3961317
No because in universe it would be difficult to explain why your family disappeared and in real life writing that would derail the story too much.
>>
>>
>>
>>3961319
>No because in universe it would be difficult to explain why your family disappeared
Doesn't literally everybody in the trials laugh at you for having two living parents? Fuck, even the bureaucracy clerks call a lack of dead parents a great shame.
>>
>>3961323
You can't sacrifice Jin and Rin because they are trialgoers too, and by the time your parents appear in Nanhou, you are too famous for the public. Keiko, the inner kingdoms and archons are already watching you, that's why you can sacrifice only shmucks that can't be tracked to you.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3961323
There's a difference between having dead parents and killing your parents. And you need a convincing cover up story for killing them so nobody suspects demonic cultivation, like how Goro killed his father to usurp the sect. Jin and Rin are jobbers and your parents aren't even martial artists, you're already a patriarch - there's not a single reason to kill them.
>>3961325
>You can't sacrifice Jin and Rin because they are trialgoers
If you didn't raise them properly then they already dropped out by the current chapter. Frankly I think that's a better ending for them anyway than continuing to complete in more and more dangerous trials that are way above their skill level
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3961337
Even if you train them they have what, a thousand AP or less? That's bad in the dragon trial and every subsequent one is only going to get harder. And for what, there is no way your last minute training is good enough to push them into top 100 to become an archon, so what's the reward for them risking their lives that makes it worth it instead of dropping out and continuing to train at a regular pace then leeching off their big brother Archon resources and prestige. The next logical step is estabilishing your own sect/taking over Thunderfall depending whether you declared independance and someone who isn't an Archon has to manage it's everyday operations, you're gonna leave fucking Mao in charge? Put Big Chu there instead of Jin?
>>
>>
>>3961345
>so what's the reward for them risking their lives that makes it worth it instead of dropping out and continuing to train at a regular pace then leeching off their big brother Archon resources and prestige
They make your clan more prestigious by lasting longer and they can help you during your own trials, as seen in the Stallion. Jin also does well on Guarded Blossom if you invested in him, the fact that he opens the vault for you nets you over 500 shards and there are other benefits as well.
>taking over Thunderfall depending whether you declared independance and someone who isn't an Archon has to manage it's everyday operations, you're gonna leave fucking Mao in charge? Put Big Chu there instead of Jin?
You will not take over Thunderfall. Mao is there and still stronger than you or Jack, and even if he dies, Jack is next in line to inherit it. He will keep the sect if only to spite you.
No, our best bet is to take over Guarded Blossom, have Fuyu elevate our relatives as part of our clan proper, intermarry them as much as possible with our retainers and hope Azuma Honsha doesn't assign you a particularly annoying noble as a magistrate.
>>
>>3961356
Also, Thunderfall is an absolute horrible place to have as a sect. Mao is just a giant fish in a small pond.
Guarded Blossom is...honestly I have no fucking idea, where even is that island? I entirely missed it.
>>
>>
>>3961366
>Each of you will be getting an all-expenses-paid vacation to Guarded Blossom, a large island hosting a ransacked trade settlement two-hundred nautical miles southwest.
>The Exalted Council, in their infinite and transcendent wisdom, have chosen the Outer West town of Nanhou to host the next Heavenly Ascension Trials!
Quite far but also better than outer kingdoms for the purposes of cultivation due to its stronger ambient chi. There is also an active volcano there so a fire or earth gate may appear periodically, just like it did during the Dragon trial. Your retainers are also steadily building experience in nautical skills and your fleet is growing as well. There is no reason to prefer Thunderfall over it.
>>
>>3961356
>They make your clan more prestigious by lasting longer
True enough, but I personally don't think it's worth gambling their lives for some more prestige
>they can help you during your own trials, as seen in the Stallion. Jin also does well on Guarded Blossom
I was asking from a story perspective, not gameplay
>You will not take over Thunderfall
I forgot you got your own island at the end of this chapter to be fair, I thought we'd go back to Thunderfall village and I doubt a single backwater shithole can have two sects
>Mao is stronger than you or Jack
I was under the impression Jack already surpassed him when he shows up during the demonic gate and you obviously caught up to him. Anyway, I admit poor wording on my part - next step as in next step of increasing your family prestige, not what we do next chapter. I meant taking over Thunderfall once you become an Archon if you haven't declared independance
>even if he dies, Jack is next in line to inherit it
Jack will die in the finale by my hands
>hope Azuma Honsha doesn't assign you a particularly annoying noble as a magistrate
My wife Keiko isn't annoying, so it's okay. The island is already yours (unless anon finally rewards declaring independance by having Mao steal it if you stayed loyal).
>>3961366
It's right next to Nanhou, you get there by ships and it only takes a couple of hours of sea travel. Slightly soured by the fact place looks like shit after going through your fight with Jack, then Sakura then White Tiger
>>
>>3961377
>True enough, but I personally don't think it's worth gambling their lives for some more prestige
They can withdraw at any moment. It's their choice to keep competing.
>I was asking from a story perspective, not gameplay
It's both, unless you reject that part about pretending to be weak
>I doubt a single backwater shithole can have two sects
It can't, they got extremely pissy about you triggering the gate without them. The resources to grow a sect are limited and they recruited you only because Khan forced them. They don't even include Jin and Rin despite them being warriors and do so the same day they leave for Nanhou.
>I was under the impression Jack already surpassed him when he shows up during the demonic gate and you obviously caught up to him.
No, as shown by the newest chapter Mao can kill Goro's entourage in seconds and force him to flee. Jack's AP got above Mao's during his transformation but Mao can probably transform as well.
>>
>>
>>3961386
>travelled by sea
Was that even the initial plan? Taio kidnapped us while we were travelling and then we just grabbed a bunch of ships to flee the small army of fiends and then it just went with the flow? I think the other Thunderfallers except for Bo Lo came in by land, or am I wrong about it?

Oh, and I think Nanhou is more tropical than Thunderfall, so Thunderfall is probably more on the northern side while Nanhou is on the southern, plus Nanhou should be on the outer part of the spiral.
>>
>>3961386
>>3961392
The continents form a giant spiral, I don't think their size is ever explained but travelling to the Stallion took several hours and that was by some magic ball that's almost certainly far faster than a ship

I am almost sure that Rasen is a continent, with the northern part being a polar region while the southern is close to the equator. That would make it roughly the size of North America.

It's, funnily enough, kind of a "everything works good" kinda thing. Like for example, you need high persuasion to recruit as much people as you can on Ebikowa. You need a combat ship to train them. You need to get junk ships, which also means you need high prestige...
I used >>3960496 as reference, but generally speaking you'll need everything, AP, Prestige, Shards...it's really all interconnected.
The bright side is that you can get all this without being completely soulless. For example, I was able to waste a whole ass day before the dragon trials helping Leona despite hte fact that her quest's rewards are literally all worthless for a non-akakiru build.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
I will say, it's kinda funny how you can basically become a "Semi-Akakiru" wielder by getting Leona's swords and then nabbing the Spirit Pact. You basically unlock their style's big attack no irregardless of what you actually have.
>>
>>
>>3961542
I don't need two swords. I just got it for free after banging her in the dragon trial.
Actually,I just realized, does the game ever acknowledge if you manage to romance all of the characters? I know there are some random one-offs that don't really matter so I wouldn't count them, but I ought to imagine there'll be some point where the game speaks out if you romanced

Early game over would be merciful.
You'll make mistakes early that will cause deathspirals late into the game and you'll most of the time have no idea what exactly has gone wrong. Devs deliberately made the system extra obtuse and they "rebalance" it periodically when people figure out strategies.

Man, I really can't wait to see what we can do with our Island, and what we'll be able to do with a huge clan. I had 11 ships and 88 retainers at the end of this run, 33 of them martial, and I don't believe our cousins etc. are counted yet, are they? I suppose growth is exponential for that matter, and high prestige would compound that.
I wonder if there will be any reactivity to what all we do during the Dragon trial, perhaps there should be some possible bonus for not destroying the orchard or for cleansing the temple? Seems like having fire and earth elements would have something going for it too, considering the volcano.
Base building and clan/sect management get fleshed out quite a bit hopefully.

I mean, becoming our own sect is a logical conclusion, the prologue is our village in flames after all. Jack going rogue and destroying the Thunderfall sect or something of the sort seems likely. Kosuke, Rin, and Jin becoming upper disciples kind of goes without saying. Some of our other retainers, such as Mars and a few of the other described ones or semi unique recruits getting fleshed out would be neat. Maybe Bo Lo, Big Zhu and some others from Thunderfall switch sides?
Curious how things may go with the sects of our harem, and the alliances we can make. I could see the Steel Thread Alliance, for example, getting absorbed completely by a high honor/compassion MC.
And yes, some proper UI for it would be nice, if it ends up really taking off.

Yeah, that's probably his attempt at trying to get people banned. He got extra retarded and samefagged like mad a couple hours ago. By the way, jannies, if you see this then check his posting history. Everything he posts is bait, off-topic and samefaggotry in an attempt to incite a flame war.
We like to call each other autists, spazzes and retards but he is the one truly mentally ill cretin.

Funniest thing is that he's tried it before, and only succeeded in getting his split threads banned and the usual thread just continued as normal, kek

I think that's mostly going to be the setup for the second book. Your primary concern is still to not fuck up in the trials and you are actively being hunted by the akuma lords.
Once chapter 10 drops, we'll be back to nanhou and the free time hub, so it will all go back to "story happens within a few days" timeframe rather than several weeks chapter 9 took place over. Can't exactly build a whole sect in that little time.

Same here. Credit to culitvator-anon, he struck a really good balance between waifus, bros and assholes you want to hate. He's got a real talent for establishing a character with only a few scenes, like how everyone knew Angelo was based with only his intro scenes. Meanwhile other authors give you pages and pages of railroaded "interaction" that gives you barely any insight into a character.

That said, if it ever happens, should it keep the obscure and incomprehensible stat/choice relation? I feel it just won't be the same if you don't have to check the code to see what the fuck is being measured.

Well, I managed to do my "golden" run. The ninth chapter doesn't really count since I just did stuff differently from normal to see it (I'll probably stick with Flayed when the actual next chapter drops)
BUT
I did manage to get just about everything while only starting with 4 alchemy. I forgot the runes let you pick an extra skill, so it's more like 4+ 2 (or 4+3 if i decided to put on the factotum mask) BUT I got
>Junk fleet

>Purple Suite
>Enough AP to use Indomitable Will in ch9
So I'd say I did pretty damn good.

Bwcause most of them are more preoccupied with showcasing how badly sir mopesalot wants to fuck your character than develop a personality.

>>
>>3961947
While that is true, I think that the most common issue is that writers get too protective of their characters and don't want them to be seen differently that they do. It's not enough to tell you that as children you were close friends, no they have to show your detailed first meeting, the second day you played together, that time you walked home together because you were bullied, etc.
The issue is that those detailed interactions are not only boring, they don't tell you anything about those characters. An introduction has to be fast and memorable, getting lost in the mundane will always hurt the story

Power, Agility and Fortitude also come up a hell of a lot often, and usually on non-skill checks.
My build can beat all of the power checks and all of the skill checks, and gets all the cool stuff. That's enough for me.
>>
>>
>>3961994
Only partially, every other soul core gives extra chi and I've found that even when you've got a large pool of it, it all starts evaporating quickly when chi checks start popping up.
>>3961998
>My build can beat all of the power checks and all of the skill checks, and gets all the cool stuff. That's enough for me.
Fair enough. My point to begin with is that pretty much everyone still has a large pool of shards to flex AP harder if necessary so sacrificing some power to get other good stuff isn't a problem at all.
>>
>>
>>
>>3962006
That's just nanhou and anyone can do it. Even barring all the money you can get from quests, gambling, stealing, taking out loans and so on, putting ships toward salvage operations is absurdly lucrative. Throw in pirate operations into the mix and your fleet grows rapidly in size and in the amount of money it nets you every day.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3962009
Start getting money even before Nanhou, chapter 3 alone should get you 1-1.5k shards. At Harehama, sell all cargo. Take merchant ships and tell your crew to pretend to be slaves and load up as much loot as possible.
By arriving in Nanhou you should have a couple of thousand. Buy whatever you need, save the rest. Go to the bank, renegotiate the interest on your investment. You need to get as much commerce as possible, in my herbalist runs I can get 13% without crippling myself. That means that with every time pass, my investment grows by that much. Immediately take out every loan possible and reinvest it.
Having 10k shards (if we ignore the debt) by the end of chapter 8 is nothing special.
>>
>>3962009
>about 150 shards from pickpocketing (you can do it a second time before dragon trial)
>300+500+500 from the casino (you can squeeze out another 250-ish if you deliberately get as close to the limit and then win with the option that earns the most)
>each salvage ship is worth about 50 shards daily (1,5 gold per ship + 350~silver for selling a loot crate) + an extra ship that can either be sold or put to use for more money
>each pirate ship is worth about 40 shards daily (it scales with your retainer strength) + an extra ship that can be sold or put to work
>bank has 1150 shards worth of loans
>any money you put into the bank will gain interest 3 times before dragon trial starts and another 3 times during chapter 9
>barring that, you can also sell slaves during dessy's quest for 150 shards per "retainer" you acquired via piracy (your starting slave(s) from ch2, the 8 people you can pressgang with the pirate option at the end of ch6, every retainer you get via piracy operations all count for this)
>get the guards to remove leona from the casino for another 400 shards from there
>get the money guiren gives you as a reward for his quest
There's a ton of money in Nanhou even without counting the merchant specific gains.

>>
>>3962028
It puts a damper on it, for sure, but you are still getting a lot of value out of the bank alone. Just gotta remember to pull out about 3000 before dragon trial until anon adds an option to visit the bank in ch9.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3962032
By reinvest it do you mean putting it back into the bank? Also, taking merchant ship is a no no, you need prestige to get a junk fleet, and not only does the combat ship help they let you get enough retainer strength for a black belt that pushes prestige over the 40 mark.
>>
>>3962049
>and not only does the combat ship help they let you get enough retainer strength for a black belt that pushes prestige over the 40 mark.
That used to be the case when chapter 7 dropped. As of chapter 8 you can just craft the godthreaded belt and it gives 1 more prestige on top of retainer strength.
>>
>>3962049
>Also, taking merchant ship is a no no
Taking the merchant ship is yes yes. I exchange them for junk ships in Nanhou on the first day either way. Same with prestige 40, day one. I don't bother with a black belt, I can get it for free during the Stallion trial if I want.
>By reinvest it do you mean putting it back into the bank?
You arrive at the bank. The oni offers you 1% interest rate. Refuse and haggle. The game calculates your commerce stat and whether you are a merchant. I get 15% interest rate as a herbalist.
Ask for a loan, take out everything that they offer. Put all your money back into the bank, including the borrowed money. By timepass 2 or 3 it already pays for itself and starts making more money.
>>
>>
>>3962059
>How do you get prestige 40 before nanhou?
Not before. After arriving, before the day passes. Herbalists have it especially easy but I think I managed to get 40 on the other backgrounds before the Tiger trial. If that fails, I could always get it after Rabbit.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>3962147
POMA issue is that that the checks don't really scale to what you get. You can't specialize in one stat because they are all constantly used and the thresholds become absurd after a point, and failing makes it so you don't get boosts and you cannot afford that. I still wonder if he even play tests the whole thing.

That's literally the one I found out about, but like...urgh, I don't know how to describe it, it feels...flavorless?
I'm already midway through chapter 3 and I feel absolutely fucking nothing. I feel nothing about the MC, nothing about the setting, nothing about the story...the only charater that seemed slightly interesting was Wagner, but it's an emphasis on slightly.
I don't know why it is, it just feels bland.

You need rock to get the easy 9 in the power test, also it gives you some powerful defensive and offensive options in mele which you usualy lack.
I like Storm as the other one but I'm open to other sugestions.
>>
>>3962159
I liked Enders Game so I'm biased toward the game that's inspired by it, but I can sorta see what you mean. The primary stakes aren't really set yet since there's yet to be an alien encounter meaning the whole premise of training children to leadership roles is fairly aimless so far. Basically playing an off-brand Sabres of Infinity without the reader knowledge of what the conflict and its consequences will entail.
>>
>>3962167
That's not what I mean. It's not that it lacks stakes. It's just that it feels like it doesn't have personality. The writing feels whatever, the protagonist feels whatever, everything just feels whatever.
Sabres starts of small, but you still feel some real personality from the world and writing.
>>
>>
>>3962179
The second part is not as unforgiving, but how the stats are measured in the code is weird. How it works is that whenever you pick a choice, both a skill and a stat are used, if you both meet the requirement, you get a full victory, if only one does you get a neutral result and if neither do you get a big loss.
What you are not told is that your personality affects some choices, with a boost depending on how big the personality stat is. But if you use a choice that measures a personality you are bad at, it will tank your current score by almost reaching the middle point. So two bad choices mean that your personality will now not help you in rolls that are higher than normal.

When you pickpocket leona, you also check how much loot you got from the city. If you have 17 or more, you also find the technique. It's pretty much merchant ship exclusive, since they give you 10 extra loot crates on top of 3~5+perception you normally get.

Haven't properly read through any of the Hyuga books since the 2nd one, but I gave the demo a shot out of curiosity and yeah it sets up the premise of the book pretty clearly
It's about(You) getting bodyswapped with Masami and having to pretend to be her in order to infiltrate the shugenja academy she went to. This is necessary for plot reasons, but also one of the demons you're hunting is somewhere in the academy and clearly up to no good so you'll also have to deal with that somehow

I really hope Kosuke will actually do something at some point
Like, unless you fail the Ebikowa checks, she pretty much just kinda pops up every now and then to give you some stolen silver and have sex. You can train her and even give her the elixir, but she doesn't do much with it as far as I know.
>>
>>
>>3963453
She helps you beat the bandit by distracting him when you are trying to unlock immortal core advancement. Then she swoops in when you fight the scholar and puts the binders on him, disrupting his chi control and creating an opening for you to destroy him. Against Sakura, she baits one of her summons and kites it away from you.

>>
>>3963460
Well, yeah. She is not a fighter. Bo Lo would beat the shit out of her. The fact that she not only manages to contribute, but also creates crucial openings for you twice, against someone who could squash her like a bug is already impressive.
She doesn't even have her style unlocked and depending on your choices, she might not even have shugendo. And as the other anon pointed out, she does not take part in any trials and the Stallion would be a perfect one for her to shine.
Also, note that the MC has unprecedented growth and the new foundation will make him soar even higher. If Kosuke keeps up with us after that, it breaks the immersion.

>>
>>3963475
>Nobody out of the bumtastic three have a style of their own even if you spend all your time training them.
It usually takes months if not years of dedicated training to get a style. In our case it takes days because we use a dangerous method that makes both you and your mentor unable to defend themselves and they get captured. Then, after beating the scholar and when the gate stops powering you up, you faint for several days. And canonically you are both extremely hardworking and very talented.
If we used this method on the twins, I am not even sure if they would be ready for their next trial. Kosuke is another thing but you would still need Guiren to babysit her and he is busy with his own shit.

In the flashback sections, but unlike the other anons I believe it was the glowies who planted the anomaly there, killed the whatshisname hero as an acceptable casualty and the anomaly forced sidekick to jump from the building breaking his body, so they could grab him masquerading as an ambulance and deliver him back to the black ops site. You break out later at some point and decide that being a hero was fucking stupid since it got you captured and got someone killed, so now it's time to larp as a villain (actually a hero/anti-hero that just wants to kill the glowies). It mostly delivers on the premise, unless you wanted a more edgy personal vendetta against heroes like you're Syndrome which is understandable and I agree

Me neither but that's changing the author more than slightly. My bigger issues with book is that it's just a bit too long and has too many sideplots, it could've used a slight trimming. And yes cut the gay clubs and trans support groups too, those add nothing other than shallow virtue signaling

Do you know what the funniest thing about JDF is? Eldra doesn't see the Thunderfaller as his own person but yet another offshoot of the dragon she married thousands of years ago. After he dies, she will go to find the next incarnation and barely, if ever, think about the Thundercuck.
There is a way to force her to see him as the last incarnation and the perfected Jade Dragon she loves, which is for the jadecuck to become a Flayed God and prevent the next reincarnation. But a true jadecuck will never do that, he has to take the handout from the heavens and instead of dying a million times, he will prefer to do some yoga stretches. A pity.

The foundation itself is a standard high quality one, besides being the only way to increase your corruption cap for now, but the focus is on the mythic powers he can get you. His way of restoring you is basically cheating the world into making the impossible happen.

She is pretty cool if you are not a jadecuck. Yang is the most interesting from the bunch but got handed the short end of the stick by having to offer you a high tier zodiac foundation. The upside is that you can at least design it to get the buffs you want, and the third accessory slot is also very useful.

>It's just a shame that it's almost entirely skipped over.
I think anon wants us to use his foundation as a bag of tricks we can asspull any artefact we need. That happens for example if you go rescue the unicorn. All other options are quite expensive or rare but if you studied under Yang you just grab a magic jar and seal the fiend at no cost to yourself.

Ehhhhhhhh, I appreciate the incredible amounts of random SoL content you get when the game actually provides you party members since it's very in the spirit of the WoD TTRPGs to just do random character shit with your bros, but you're right at the end of the day. Replaying a game when it's like 200k words is alright but when you're approaching 2 million words and long descriptions (which was based though) it does get pretty crazy when there's more random shit going on than just the plot. I kind of wish it was a real RPG instead of a cyoa but it is what it is. I do agree entirely on the second end, the Judeo-Christian Werewolf chick was at least on the appropriate part of hot and crazy but the whole having to protect minorities from chuds bit was kind of overplayed when it went nowhere.

Julian (your forced love interest backstabbing Muslim Vampire Asian They) + Nomi, another Asian They but this one is less offensively shoved on you.
I find it kind of funny that his best character design, the absolute piece of shit and built for ryona and domination loss character Giselle, shows up in both of his WoD games as basically a cameo where she's in over her head. I have a sneaking suspicion he's a magefag.

This is a thread to discuss choose your own adventure games. Aura Clash is a choose your own adventure game, which is why despite all your seething and crying this thread is still here and Aura Clash discussion is still here.
>b-but it stops discussion of other games
People posting about a game that is on-topic for the thread does not prevent discussion of other games. You just seethe about it because you're an easily-triggered schizophrenic who goes into fits at every mention of Aura Clash. Your constant off-topic, spam and low quality posts do more to hinder discussion of other games than any number of posts about AC, which you would know if you actually cared about discussion of any sort instead of just constantly being angry about people discussing a game you dislike.
tl;dr Aura Clash is on topic and always will be, so seethe harder

Something doesn't need a question mark at the end to be a considered a question, ESLchama - not that I would expect a seething ESL like yourself to know.
But if you're curious, I was referring to the original question I asked and which you still haven't answered, kek

If I talk about 'the question of economics' or somesuch, I don't put a question mark at the end just because. Your being illiterate and unable to understand basic english is a personal problem.
Nice deflection from having to justify your contradictory statements, though! Luckily I already accepted your concession.

Give us an option to visit the bank in ch9Your save to file system is fucked big time, at the very least on firefox. Trying to load the save on its own doesn't actually do anything and the function only works when you click Clear to delete all saves. This is also true when there are no saves to be cleared, meaning someone trying to load a save from file has to first make a save, then delete it using Clear to only then be able to load a save from file.

It's kind of like tumblr used to be before the porn was banned there. The containment was breached and all of these scums invaded other websites, primarily twitter, preddit and even 4chinz. The faggot in question is a tumblrina that used to post links to their shitty blogs and was very confused when I mocked him for it.
By the way, I checked the code for the Stallion Trial and made a list of possible mounts with their AP value.

So there are 4 auspicious beasts in the eastern mythology, right? The azure dragon, vermillion bird, black turtle and white tiger. I think that the world of AC has cycles, or yuga, and one of the beasts takes over as a dominant deity but that was disrupted when the Cathay shattered. I think the dragon did something to prevent the tiger from taking over. Maybe divided his power between jade dragons predicting that they would choose to reincarnate rather than ascend and that stopped the wheel of time.
But the preventive measure was not perfect and the tiger was still able to influence the world of mortals. After struggling for several thousand years he managed to establish a cult for himself, the Akuma Lords and their religion is more than just a doomsday cult, they are aiming to restore the balance that the dragon ruined. But doing so will also destroy most of humanity so from our perspective they are enemies and need to be stopped.

I git that, but why do they keep going on about false vessels and shit? Seems like every mothafucka is a false vessel. It's not us, it's not jack, it's not sakura, it's DEFINITELY not motherfucking Bo Lo.
Is there even a "true" vessel? Is it gonna be one of those things where everyone is a fake vessel until they aren't?

I think Jack is the vessel and him using it at the gate is written to intentionally confuse the reader.

Yes, I meant that she is obviously a false vessel and the game makes us think that both us and Jack have got the white tiger chi from her, while Jack has always had it, even before he became a proper cultivator. From the narrative standpoint, hidden in plain sight.

I couldn't find the patreon chapter, seems no one posted it yet
>good fights
No, there's three, first you don't get to do anything, second is a fake-choice between whether you want to rage or not (choosing not to just writes two paragraphs of how you try not to then merges with the other choice) and last one that you can avoid entirely, but if you choose you just beatdown some old guy like a typical mafia shakedown, he gives up in one page
>mystery investigations
None, the plot that gods are dissappearing is barely estabilished before the demo ends and with the rate it's being written (prologue+2 chapters in 1.5 years) we're gonna get there in 2030 maybe. So far this is less about being a god and more about being a deadbeat junkie with anger issues that gets initiated into the mafia
No romance to be found either beyond some flirting, I got toankle touchingbefore the demo ended
Some whedon-tier dialogue of "well I'm a god now, that's just happened" bringing it down too

Finished chapter 9. I like how there's lot's of options and still wanna try some things. At first I thought the whole losing your aura thing was a bit annoying, but it's kinda fun and keeps the AP maxers (like me) honest. Also my build still worked out pretty much perfectly (only had to use the skill manual from guiren to get crafting 3). The reveal of us having recovered our cores early is kinda cool, but the timing is really awkward and the pay off could've been better. Like there's so many chances to die, where, in retrospect, you could just stop pretending to be retarded to not die. I can forgive some of those, since it'd just involve a lot of useless writing to have you reveal your power whenever you die, but it makes zero sense you don't reveal it earlier when you get to the island. You don't really get any advantage from being thrown in prison first and in this case there are a lot of wasted words that could've been saved if we just fought full power from the start.
Also feels like we're letting Leona get one over us for no reason with the vault, when we have more men than her and could take her hostage, but just don't.
I did like how there's crazy checks where I can actually use my big AP though.

I wonder how many total time passes there will be before the 12th trial. By the end of chapter 9 we are 5 trials in and 6 time passes, correct? I already managed to double my initial investment and that's on top of what I earn through ships and other means.

It's inefficient if you are poor. If your net worth is in tens of thousands, it's free power. APmaxxxers that work through cycling still have access to alchemy and I find myself pushing it to 5-6+1 even in the most skillspread runs anyway. At that point the big difference comes more from your origin rather than your skill allocation. Herbalists get much greater value out of advancement elixirs they make even though merchants can make them too. Meanwhile merchants get bigger powerspikes from cycling shards because they inherently have access to much more money and greater opportunities to keep making even more, something other starts have to a much lesser extent.
From my point of view, alchemymaxxxing is "inefficient" because it pidgeonholes me into chasing after soul treasures above all else rather than optimizing money rewards vs other bonuses.
>>
>>
>>3964545
2000 disappears quickly when you are paying 200 per cycling. Unless chapter 10 is going to have giant money sinks that compete for those resources, it's no different from bankrupting yourself in ch3 so that you can end the fight with tian fang with 1300+AP

>hasn't played the game
I played it on trash a couple of years ago, cuckboy. I remember the times when Ruo was genderlocked to male and to raise seduction skill you had to flirt with him even as a dude. I played through Meimei's romance and when interacting with her, you are forced to be a gigaretard who eats up all her bullshit and allows her to poison yourself. The only way to not be retarded is to not interact with her at all. There is no option to counterplot against her, or keep her close with the intention of screwing her over.
Poma was always a humiliation ritual garbage and Meimei calling you a dog is a logical conclusion of it. If you had the spine you invoked earlier, you would have recognized that. Now go, keep following PoMA, with some luck you will get an update forcing your character into a chair as Meimei rails Long Chen before your eyes.

>I did, the last time after the auction was added.
So you're seething about an update you haven't played, because you would rather sit here and threadread and then end up looking retarded than play games. Glad we've established that.
>Kek, judging by your taste in waifus, I would say that about you
Psychological projection is unhealthy, anon. The first step to getting help is admitting you have a problem.
>>
>>3964594
>threadread
Yeah, that's exactly how PoMA should be experienced. The only good part was the excursion either way, and teaching the retarded kids when covering for Ai. Everything else was a meandering, badly written, and poorly designed slop or a humiliation ritual. The first one is boring, the second one someone will post here either way for me to laugh at.
I might reconsider playing it again if Nicky rebalances his game around heterosexual male players, though.

Nothing I know of where you have time powers used regularly to change things, you could try writing one. Silverworld's entire game plot is being launched into the distant past from the steamwork/high tech byzantine empire, so it might have more time stuff later. I got 1 chapter in and had a crunch at work, still need to play. It's made by Kyle Marquis though so that's promising.

>How long is a chapter normally for these sorts of games, anyways?
There is no "normal" in this genre, only how much free time the author has and how much they procrastinate. Aura Clash updates twice a year, give or take, and 200k or so words each. You should judge it case by case. Orcbro works the fastest of all the authors but he is an outlier.
>>
>>3964724
Infamous is currently at 457k words. Not that bad considering other games get like 10k word updates after months or years, and I could see why the author would get frustrated. It’s practically a full on book at this point.

In theory yeah, I'm not sure how it will be received though. Big chapters and long waits make the game feel fresh, I'll give it a try to split the chapters into 2-3 updates and hopefully the smaller amount of new content doesn't take away from the fun of a replay. We'll see. I only have ~4 chapters left anyway.
>>
>>
>>
>>3965672
My primary worry is that it will end up the same way PoMA updates are received where they get small number of pages of content a month spread across several mutually exclusive routes. So most people see at most 3-4 pages from a 70k words update and they are basically done.>>3964634
also if we are supposedly getting back the free roam section in ch10, using bossrozal talisman to skip a trial should give us more time to work with til next trial since we skip a 3-day adventure using it.
