>RPG Title: Directors Cut
Why do RPGfags do this? Don't game directors have say over the final product, hence the title director? You never see this with FPS or other game genres...

presumably it would include cut/partially complete content that they wanted to implement in the initial release but couldn't due to time or budget restraints, no? so in that way it would be different from an expansion or a dlc. i don't think it's a strange concept

Do not film directors? Why do you think that might be?

Except for bioshock directors cut
DC means that director's edited the initial version to deliver a better overall experience.

In a perfect world yes but publishers tend to get in the way.

No. A lot of content gets cut because the suits say "the deadline is X".
And then there are complete disasters when the core mechanics is butchered and particular technical solutions are forced on the development team.
See what happened to Legend of Kyrandia 3, Ultima IX and C&C Tiberian Sun.
Or Cyberpunk 2077.
