If you choose to escape with Ralof into Helgen Keep during the tutorial of Skyrim, he unwittingly completes an aurbic ritual through the unbinding of your shackled hands (untying the Prisoner from fate) inside of a Tower (symbolic of the cylindrical wheel, within which all of reality occurs), where a chandelier casts the shadow of an eight-spoked wheel (strengthening the symbology) upon the floor of the same ritual chamber containing a deer head casting the shadow of dragon with spread wings, directly in the middle between the bear emblem of the Stormcloaks and the Imperial sigil.

Hammerfell secession and Skyrim secession (if canon) would leave the Empire without front-line troops, so the only edge of mankind over the Aldmeri is lost since the elf are naturally better mages

The Empire is not anti-Thalmor anyway so what does that matter? The Empire kills its own soldiers for acknowledging the creator of the Empire, because the Thalmor tell them to. There is no Empire to preserve. It's just Hammerfel vs Thalmor, and Skyrim is welcome to join.

The Empire is no Pro-Thalmor is a kidnapped country
