The reason detractors claim it's fanfiction is because Kitase was poised the question unexpectedly and gave a snap answer. He later retracted this answer and re-confirmed it as a possible interpretation of the games events. But detractors/trolls ignore that part and focus on his inital answer pretending it's the definitive answer on the subject.
