Fabled Lands Java?
>>
>>3988217
Like this anon >>3993433 said Fabled Lands Java is the closest you will come to the feeling of old CYOA adventures in vidya format, and to be fair, those books are also amongst the best sandbox adventures ever writen.

It would be cool if that and the old pulpy Sword & Sorcery type rpgs came back, but sadly the industry moved on into gayer styles and the audience isn't even aware that those old adventures are a thing.

I wish the Grailquest & Way of the Tiger series were converted to videogame format.

Grailquest had funny brit humourous but keeps getting ridiculously harder with each sequel.

Are all 5 good? Didn't know it made it's way to vidya. I like playing adventure books from ttrpg alone. It's much faster and I get to experience the pretty lame adventures the writers come up with. This however looks like it has potential.

5? i thought Sorcery! was 4 books? not sure how they converted them into an apps. There are also other Fighting Fantasy books that got converted into apps. but do you really wanna pay money for them?

Warlock of Firetop Mountain was made into a few games on various platforms btw.

it's the 1st Fighting Fantasy book published. basic slay the wizard plot, and exploring le dungeon. i guess the dungeron crawling people liked it a lot so they kept making games based on it.

Interdastim. Who would've thought forever alone the genre would prosper in a time like that

Holy shit how have you not heard of the entire text adventure genre?
>>
>>3994859
>entire text adventure genre?
pretty boring. and filled with obscure puzzles, and dungeon crawlin. gamebooks/CYOA forced you to make multiple choice decisions instead.mostly. not the same.

The last generation to grow up playing text adventures is 40 now
>>
>>3994976
and parser based text adventures have been pretty much replaced by twine CYOA (often queer-themed) crap
the last IFComp results were depressing
>>

telnet games still exist, anon. but the games got sort of replaced with graphical clients.

anyhoo i think Bloodsword series should be converted into /vrpg/. difficulty is just about right. though some 2 classes are better than the other 2, and the narration is very much written for multiplayer with DM which is kinda interdasting for gamebooks at that time. also pro-christian plot and ending.

apparently republished 12 yrs ago on amazon paperback and kindle.
