>>3991566 The fact that they already have so many assests made in a such a short time tells me they're most likely cannibalizing the old DQXII to make this one.
>>3991704 God the Joker shit sucked so much, specially J3, the most boring Monsters universe ever. I'm glad we are back to the original monsterverse and none of that weird tech setting. Only 2 gets a pass because the stranded on an island setting is great and every area is well done.
Good. They had enough sense to not try to go dark, edgy and politically mature after FF XVI. Who would have thought they could actually learn from their own mistakes?
>>3992008 >Announce something >Years later show something bad and claim scrapped thing was worse Maybe a lil bit more of seething and redditspacing will help your cause anon
>>3991559 I'm way less interested in this version so far, I was intrigued in what a darker toned Dragon Quest would be like, I've played every Dragon Quest, and enjoyed them all (yes, even VII) so I'm confident I'm going to probably like it, but I did feel the franchise could have stood to take a risk or two, they've been very safe for a very long time, and Dragon Quest used to push the envelope with each title.
But I'll not mourn Flames of Fate, during development it must have become apparent it wasn't working, either it just didn't feel like Dragon Quest anymore, or it was just so shit they had to scrap it, whatever it was I'm glad they finally figured something out and aren't radio silent anymore and the game is actually coming out again, instead of being vaporware.
Oh and I hate the new Hero, but I'll not write the game off on that alone, I hated VII's Hero too but still ended up liking that one too.
>>3992211 The thing is Flames of Fate felt like a pointless shift for the sake of marketing. DQ's strength was its ability to tell dark stories with a cutesy, family-friendly facade, it didn't need to be edgy.
>>3992180 >7 >S-tier I unironically don't get it. I have played it on PSX, 3DS, and even the new remake and I genuinely don't understand why it's so beloved. 3, I get it. 5, I get it even if I think Japan really overrates 5. 8, I get it even if I think the West really overrates 8. But 7 is a 100 hour slog even in the versions that trim the fat from the PSX version. Was this just the only game Japanese kids had access to that year?
>>3992598 I like it just fine, I just don't understand why it's always at the top of everyone's list as a god-tier "you have to play this game before you die" of DQ games.
>>3992601 I think if someone is saying that they're probably misguided, but if a DQ superfan ranks it as their number 1, that makes sense. The original is SNES era DQ taken to the extreme. Huge amount of text, jobs to level up and switch between, tons of stories and towns and wandering.
>>3991559 I find it weird that there are people acting as if it's going to be another 5 years when this time they showed way more than just a teaser logo, probably restarted development awhile ago, and are reusing what assets they can. The only reasons I can think that it would take longer is if they're avoiding overlapping with FF7 part 3 or Horii passes. Admittedly we haven't gotten much on the next 7 part either but if they don't say anything by the end of the year I can almost guarantee an announcement will happen for the 30th anniversary.
>>3993481 2027 will likely be FFVIIR3. 2028 and 2029 will be a toss up between KHIV and DQXII. Seems like the restart occurred in 2024 but they didn't seem to fully scrap all assets, animation, etc. (i.e. the cast seen thus far would have been made years ago before Toriyama's death for the prior concept). I am pretty sure DQXII is still coming out this decade.
>>3991559 Modern Squeenix cannot create good games. They are too busy attempting to appease the non-existing entity called "general audience" and fellating investors. It will be another dumbed down action game with a DQ paint job sloppily put over it. Paid shills will praise it as start of "new era of DQ" or some shit and you'll see the usual Hololive members playing it while pretending to have fun.
