Context: I'm a few hours into Ultima 7 right now. It's honestly a great game (despite picrel lol) and I can see the foundation for how Toddlikes came to be. My main issues are with
>how janky the horse cart movement is
>how sometimes an NPC kicks you out of dialogue and you have to simply remember everything you already asked them when re-entering
and
>the fact that NPCs don't repeat themselves after handing out important info.
Otherwise I'm thoroughly impressed. Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

In Blacked Gate, horse carts get stuck in pixels which basically softlocks your game unless you use cheat menu's hackmover to move yourself off or teleport.
not sure if Exult ever fixed that.
most people travel with the Flying Carpet, but flying over a certain plot dungeon will trigger Guardian popup msg which will lock up a door, so you need to cheat to get back that door too.
least buggy way to travel is to walk , use moongates and teleport spell. Ships work fine too.

>this font with that background,
game res was originally 320 x 200 pixels, usually scaled up to 640x480 CRT monitors back in the day.
it would have looked brighter with better contrast.
reading dialog/text at night, in the game, is horrible though.
anyhow, you can use filters in Exult or DosBox to make the font look more rounded with better anti-aliasing.

Thanks. Exult adds an in-game one but you can't open it mid-dialogue so you're gonna have to remember all the fancy names without a physical one so yeah you're right.

Huh?

Thanks. I'm assuming I get the carpet from the nigga with dementia in Cove since he mentioned that. And maybe I'll just... not use it around dungeons.

I've had a few short-lived sessions of the first five games, which makes me wonder how this Bioware style RTWP combat is worse? I mean, sure, it's boring. Auto-combat is always boring. But as long as it's not that tedious... well, unless this game is very grindy?
