every game ever, because all the great military feats in this show are actually the enemy becoming conveniently aggressively retarded. and the character who is supposed to win for the sake of the plot just acts like a normal person
it's just like fighting ai in games

Romance of Three Kingdoms IV is the closest thing to that experience.
Particularly when you conquer an enemy country, you get to decide to invidual faiths of every character in that country — whatever you recruit, imprison, let them go, or kill them.
It reminded me a lot of Reinhard deals with loyalists in season 1.
Basically, every character has hidden personality that determines what they say and are willing to do.
Some of them will refuse to recruit and urge you to kill them.
While others beg for mercy.

IIRC i created a dumass custom character to represent myself , then play against my bro's faction and lost. when my bro's army captured "me", he called my "bro" a "good guy" and wilingly joined his faction without any resistance. is that hidden or random?

>military genius
He's not a military genius, he's just charismatic enough to wrangle a team of non-idiots AND his opposition was filled with retards. The Empire always had a much bigger economic and manpower base than the FPA, it was only a matter of time before the FPA got attritioned to death, and that is what Reinhard did.

This
>playing rome 2 campaign as the selucids
>send three stacks to naval invade southern italy, three other stacks invade northern italy
>rome has 3 stacks defending northern italy
>right before I reach their main walled settlement in the north they just dissappear
>figured they went south to stop my other attack
>they didnt go south either
>all of italy has 1 stack defending it
>eventually find out that rome sent all its armies west for no reason

There are unironically fuck all for strategy games where you directly command space ships in anything more than the most superficial sense.
Nebulous Fleet Command is probably the most fleshed out space combat strategy game but it's discord multiplayerslop in the process of getting trooned and is one of those forever early access things
Nexus: The Jupiter Incident is the closest to being an ideal space combat strategy game but it's really showing its age and being scenario-driven with no skirmish mode means it's a one-and-done game with no replayability
Sword of the Stars is basically Total War in space but it's also really showing its age and the combination of 4s strategy layer and realtime combat layer means both are simplified and abstracted compared to a game that would specialize in either. It probably best captures the LoGH style of space warfare where you just form a concave firing line and wait for enemies to stream into the killzone suicidally.

Sins of a Solar Empire (1) feels closest to LoGH combat desu

SoTS is fine too but it's heavier on the 4x and the interface really hasn't aged well
neither game mirrors the tard-wrangling politics and human resources of LoGH though, i don't think anything in the genre does, only dorf fortress comes to mind there to a very limited extent
/oxce/ style rebuild of SoTS never ever

turn-based 4x sounds relatively doable, even with a 3d starmap
i've looked into freeorion in the past planning to fork/mod it into something sots-adjacent but god their code is awful
recreating the realtime combat part of sots is beyond me

Rome: Total War had the plotline of fighting against an external enemy, to fighting a civil war and overthrowing the government to become a supreme leader, to going back to conquest like Reinhard did. Or you could stay loyal to the senate and roleplay as Yang.
