>muh "turn back to Latin" complete with heavy infantry "Legions"
>in fucking 14th century
>because larping as Latins is more "Roman" and it isn't like East Rome has remained Greek speaking, Greek AND Roman identifying for a thousand years now
>toga wearing "Romans"
aw hell naw nigga what the FUCK is this
Even byzaboos know that this is dogshit and not how Byzantine culture and identity worked at all, who is this for???

My guess without reading the DD's is that this will work like omens from Imperator, right? It's very unnecessary, especially now that some time has passed and there's lots of criticism from players saying this game prioritizes autism over fun, but if the devs' goal is for this game to be Turing complete then I guess this is a fine addition. My knowledge of Byzantine history sucks, but from what little I know I'm not aware of there ever being a major revival of Greco-Roman paganism in the region.

Yeah, guys, I think I will shelf this one for a couple years. I played about 7 campaigns and halfway through realized it wasn't fun at all.
If Johan doesn't change his mind about whole simulation thing, I don't think I'll be coming back
I...I think I got filtered. Hope the game will not get imperator treatment, but I don't know how can paradox even salvage it without rethinking the whole game. If it doesn't happen, the only audience they will still have is simulationfags, yes, all five of them.

Imperator feels nothing like EU V.
It's a much smaller, tighter game. Everything system feels like it's connected in some way.
Meanwhile in EU V everything is a mess, from the UI to the optimization.

>Reviving Greek paganism in the Early Modern Period
I'm almost impressed. I didn't expect EU5 to turn into fantasy this quickly.

This is a Byzaboo update and it's entirely themed around the idea of the Byzantines re-forming Ancient Rome, including Latinizing and going back to Greco-Roman paganism.
I could almost understand this in Crusader Kings, but by EU's game start, that ship had fucking sailed.
In fact, if you've studied history at all, even re-forming Rome as the Byzantines in that time period is a bit absurd. It was actually the Holy Roman Empire that showed the most interest in putting Humpty Dumpty back together again, and the Byzantines kept blowing them off because they were barbaric Germans. The Byzantines were totally contented to wallow in their own decay and corruption while the Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire slowly turned into the Mayor of Constantinople.

>including Latinizing and going back to Greco-Roman paganism
The "latinizing" part makes zero goddamn sense, after two thousand years of Rome, there is nothing that makes the Latin language more Roman than Greek, they wouldn't start larping as toga 1st century Romans, they ARE Romans, Greek speaking and Greco Roman culture Romans. That identity was never up for change. That whole system should have been focused on the influence of the "Latins" (contemporary Venetians, Genoese and other Italians) in Byzantine society, either because of decline (Latins getting more concessions, possibly converting to Catholicism to get help from Western Europeans etc.) or because of resurgence (annexing parts of Italy and having to deal with the new Latin sphere of the Roman Empire in Constantinople). Being Greek in language and culture isn't up for debate.

Is every country going to get it's own special retarded meter like Latinitas vs Hellenism or what?
If they wanted to give countries national ideas they should have done that instead of "societal values" that's just a shit mechanic.

Only those that will get dlc. So be ready for anglo/french meter for england, hre/italy meter for north italian states and slavic/western meter for russia (as if lol. russia is not a thing in eu5)
Also, pretty sure that's a boy

Dlc in five years minimum
Until then be happy with converting through “all religions allowed” game rule and having no special mechanics or advances
No advances really boggle my mind. I understand some african tribal phallos cult not having them but no advances for romuva, norse, zoroastrianism, nestorianism judaism and I am pretty sure sikhism as well
I understand paradox wants to sell their shit, but they could at least throw some bone.

You guys see paradox is trying to get people to work for free on their shitty game and recruiting directly from reddit no less. 10 hours a week, written reports, NDA, and of course no pay.

They should really implement some kind of concubine system for non-christians. Seeing Ottomans and China lose their dynasty for x-th time because they marry only one woman in her 50th is quite annoying
Like if there are no male heirs upon ruler’s death, game spawns a young character of that dynasty
Or they can fix ai marriage logic, but I know that this is a high order for our brilliant programmers at paradox delhi

Listen, I love Gemistios Plethon, Ficino, and Bruno as much as any other esotericel, but their Renaissance neoplatonism wouldn’t have looked anything like classical greek religion sacrificing hecatombs of cattle to Zeus. If anything it would simply be a greater degree of syncretization betwern platonists like Proclus and Porphyry with Christianity and Hermetic astrology. They’d believe in a transcended One and believe in a heirarchy of angels/daimons. Plethon was a little more into invoking the names of the old gods, but still wanted to combine it with Christianity, giving them the status of angels or intermediaries

I've not touched it in crusader kings but ever since they mentioned bringing back Hellenic religion for EU5 i've said I want it for Zoroastrian stuff as well, maybe I should give it a try in crusader kings
the only DLC I have is tours and tournaments, do you have any recommendations for what DLC might be relevant for Zoroastrian endeavors?

There’s a country where you can retvrn and worship Dyeus Pater in his most antiquated, unaltered, and Aryan form: India.
I could feel my connection to the ancestral steppes and the smell of the cattle, our ancestors lifeblood, as I took part in one of the annual poop fests and was nourished by the healing powers of bovine urine. It was a truly divine, Aryan experience my brothers.

As a Christian, I’ve literally never seen a Muslim disrespect Christ. In fact I have witnessed the inverse, they always have a great deal of respect for him even if they don’t consider him to be God.
Jews on the other hand? They’re always disrespecting Christ, and I have witnessed this not just online, but offline as well. Every Easter Jews show a seething display of hatred towards Christians while I have heard nothing but good wishes from Muslims IRL as lent coincided with Ramadan this year. (Passover and Easter coincide every year yet Jews choose that time of interfaith convergence to seethe about Jesus.) So while I have many issues and theological disagreements with Islam I simply cannot ignore my own experience of the disrespect shown by Jews towards Christianity compared to Muslims.
