Played it a couple of months back and dropped it:
On the surface it's advanced wars with 3d models and monkey graphics to avoid IP issues. Unfortunately it doesn't play the same, the AI is hamfisted and either makes a straight charge or takes seemingly totally random moves to empty spaces with no (or negative) strategic value, I suspect the latter is an attempt to make the AI appear like it's forming plans/making mistakes but it's been weighted too heavily. Unit balance is janked and feels more like an afterthought. Campaign map design is also a mess, without a properly supported AI the only way to make maps 'challenging' is to turn them in to a grindfest/timesink.

Biggest positive I can say is I fed my thoughts back to one of the devs on the discord and he took the critiscim in his stride. So there may be hope for it in the future but I'd suggest avoiding it today.

Actually I didn't play any, not even AW itself. I just happen to see them pop up every so often, like: Athena Crisis, Wargroove 1 and 2, or Earth vs Mars that I mentioned before. I played Rogue Conflict demo, which perhaps isn't like AW at all.
