The issue with perpetual YGYL threads was that half of them were the same 20-30 songs reposted endlessly, daily, by the same person. There are still plenty of music threads happening regularly, but they're often under different names.

YLYL is a different issue - those were completely taken over by a dedicated autist who would purposefully flood them with shitty unfunny brainrot content every single thread.

I've been here since 2004. It's grown incomprehensibly shittier over time, but it's been a daily part of my life for over 20 years now. When the site went down during the sharty attack, I am ashamed to say I didn't know what to do with myself when I didn't have 4chan to go to. So many topics, so many threads, so many boards, with their own bizarre cultures. The ability to tell a moron to "go kill yourself" without eating an immediate ban (perhaps even agreement).

Other image boards have the faintest trickle of traffic (even if much of 4chan's current activity is from bots), and mainstream places with strong traffic are full-on hugboxes filled with the sort of people that killed the fun of the old internet. No clue what I'll do with myself when the site bites it for real, at some point in the future.
