i never used to think twice about using lifts.
then i moved out of my 4th floor flat and started to have recurring nightmares about being in a lift where it was swinging around all over the place like in that mine level in tazmania (old megadrive game).
wierd.
needless to say i take the stairs these days. because of dreams lol i sound like a woman
despite that, this thread is "fun". gj op, you aren't a fag today

Those safety components are from western elevator companies who create "industry bodies" from which they invent all kinds of "standards", "safety requirements" and even the dreaded "routine maintenance requirements". You may think this has something to do with the lack of accidents from white countries in this thread, but I'm here to tell you it's because of western imperialism, they create standards in order to keep the poor chinese/indian elevator companies down, to ensure tall buildings have to buy all these proprietary replacement safety parts at great expense. Moreover, the likes of Kone and Otis have had a 100 year head start on their oriental competitors, so they already killed hundreds of people from 1850-1950 to know what not to do.
Then the rude westerners have the cheek to turn around and demand the bolts are installed correctly, that worn out pads are replaced before they fail, which doesn't mesh with eastern conceptions of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Elevator companies refuse to address their faulty assumptions, which leads to many deaths.
All in all, even the best redundant safeties can't hold an elevator that is burdened with the weight of systemic racism.
