There are a ton of travelogues by Westerners who visited East Asia when those countries started being opened up in the 1800s. There were also a fair amount of missions/embassies from those countries to the West, and some of them published accounts of their experiences back home. However, I have been unable to find translated or even untranslated versions of these online.

I was looking for Seoyu Gyeonmun (서유견문 西遊見聞), "Observations on a Journey to the West," by Yu Giljun but was unable to find any copy of it in English or Korean, only very small excerpts. Then I was looking for Misok Seubyu (미속습유, Miscellany of American Customs) by Bak Jeongyang, same story.

So does anyone have anything like this? Can be China, Korea, Japan, etc. 1800s or 1900s or even earlier. Translation preferred, but I would be very grateful even for something with text I can copy-paste. Thank you!

There's an abundance of what you are describing on Project Gutenburg, for example: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/54720
But it would probably be better for you to browse the selection yourself.

I appreciate the help, however I am looking for accounts of the West by Easterners, not the other way around. I will look around on Project Gutenburg though.
