No belts. Belts are a retarded scam designed for the sole purpose of selling retards shit they don’t need.
It’s also notoriously widespread within the meme “martial arts”. Put your average karate fag with his black belt and gay robe into a ring with an experienced mma fighter and watch the larp end.
Fuck belts.

They're a decent way to indicate skill/experience, which can be useful, for example when looking for a sparring partner
Furthermore, they're a good motivator for trainees - "getting better" is a very nebulous thing, particularly when you're comparing yourself against other people who are also improving at a similar pace. This way there is a "checkpoint" system, and something tangible to aspire to.
>selling
nigga it costs less than a bigmac

My prime motivation was the belt and I made it all the way to the top as a minimum effort boy
Its not about who's best it's about who's left
Come late, roll light, leave early
People way more talented than me came and went down in flames eventually because they tried hard
All that gets you is a blue belt and bad knees
But now I have a black belt and just sit off to the side waiting to snipe people when they're tired and my legend continues to grow

I like Judo's system
There is a set curriculum, and you have to demonstrate proficiency with said curriculum to advance. No subjectivity or arbitrary "I just don't think you're good enough yet".
Granted, this may lead to disparities in actual performance on the mat, where a lower belt will be able to trash a higher belt, but imo it makes sense from the standpoint that belts represent your knowledge and understanding of the art, not your health, athleticism, natural talent etc which all impact how good of a fighter you are

Since judo only cares about your ability to answer a written questionnaire and demonstrate moves with a particular asthetic, there's no coherent argument anybody could make as to why a judo belt from the internet is less valid than one done in person
So that's exactly what I intend to do

Belts are based. Martial arts = sinking 100s of hours into suboptimally preparing for a scenario that is statistically unlikely. But if you get a belt on top, it adds a cool larp aspect. "John Doe, just a regular office worker, but secretly a karate black belt"
