Thread #286268379
I'll be storytiming the manga, one complete case per day. Most cases are around 3-6 chapters long.
Feel free to drop in at any time, since it's mostly episodic.

There's a high chance it's inspired by another story I don't know but I've always thought this case's plot would work for a nice feature film or a short series.
You get the contest organized by this rich guy and at first it seems a story about an underdog main character getting his chance to rise by believing in himself yadda-yadda and then you get the expected twist that the contest is not what it seems and the organizers are rigging the games so people who fit a certain profile pass (but the same people can be eliminated further down the line so it's not like they're in cahoots with the winners).
So you start theorizing about the rich guy intentions, going as far as thinking about mind transplants and the like and then you get the double twist that no, the rich guy just wanted to avenge his poor doggy and the real bad guy was one of the other contestants we've known from the start of the film/series.

I hate this guy, I hate how Genta is smiling after his dad talks about fights, and now I get why Genta never apologizes.
>>286268917
Can we argue this is a self defense case, then? After all, old dude had a gun in his room, and since the culprit couldn't know about it, the threat about being able to leave alive doesn't look like something made up.

I think all their budget went into that bike.

>case focusing on Genta's dad and other people of same name
>Genta hardly noticeable
>case that is about anything else
>Genta is an annoying little fuck and it's surprising no one strangled him by now
They should take Genta's dad to trips with them.
Joke aside, I like the dude, he is manly man, but is not yet another detective.

I think he is just autistic about old times.
Of all parents with known ages, they all got their firstborn in early to mid 20s, so it seems to be Gosho's preference. Genji is 32, so mid 20s when he got Genta.

Just two people died inside tv station, as far as I could find.
One reporter killed a man in another city, and another of their staff was involved in extortion crime at the baseball stadium.
And a culprit on island with detectives merely pretended he was working for them.
You're more likely to get killed while enjoying perfectly mundane things like shopping, camping, or watching a movie in dark cinema.

Since DC's audience would be in the age range where street racing is considered cool, I would sooner think it's part reaching out to them with something that would spark their interest, and part educational on how badly these things can end.

Unpopular opinion, maybe? But I really like these Case Closed covers. Other name changes/localizations aside, "Case Closed" is a great name for a Detective Series and it's pretty neat that Conan has it in the official American release. The logo is pretty good too, and very in-line with other 'funky' anime and cartoon logos of the 90s (such as the Pokémon logo), which makes it somewhat nostalgic to me. The spotlight on Conan is a nice touch, and I like the color variety each cover has, as opposed to a 100+ volumes of fucking bricks.

Lovely continuity here. The kids have improved at fishing, Genta's fishing skills strike again, we see a victim that was actually saved and it's the same spot of the previous case.

If it's regular lipstick, then he would just need to rub it off with his hand in less time than it takes to find a bandaid. There is a type that is more durable and requires makeup removing liquid or lotion to properly get off, but those on the other hand don't transfer that easily.

I'm catching up, the revolving sushi restaurant murder was fun. I didn't remember those places were considered cheap by the Japanese, you would thought that with all that technology they would be even on the fancier side. Also poor Agasa, so much time and money spent on those ungrateful brats

Because she's far away from the coast. The moment a single thing goes wrong, you are dead. Most importantly, you know there's supposed to be a rescue party searching for you. The moment you abandon your meeting spot, they won't find you.
Your best chance is staying still and wait. Especially since there's this guy who saved you once who promised to get back to you already.
By the time you realize he was lying, you are the same terrible swimmer but now you're also fatigued, dehydrated and dying of starvation. At that point, hoping for some random boat to find you isn't the best option you have... it's the only option you're left with.

Well, the difference is that he can immediately get pointed to right solution, while Kogoro and the police usually need more of Conan's playact and little less subtlety to get it. But he is still young, either way, he has time to reach his dad's "somehow just knows" level.

The sea isn't a swimming pool, there might be currents pushing you away from the coast, bad weather could set in in a moment's notice, etc...
Even if her gear was in working conditions and she knew how to swim without it waiting for help would still be the correct choice. Unless she knew from the beginning she was left there to rot in which case she'd have nothing to lose anyway.

Both Yokomizo are good police, but Jugo is a hound as far as chasing for any possible evidence. You see it even more when he presses any suspect: hint or not, he's very quick to notice whatever deviates from the ordinary.
Once you think about it, each of the detectives have their own style (keeping in mind that plot wise they have npc relevance as far as solving any case they are not personally involved with) and priorities when they represent "the police" on a case.
