I suspect that there is some legal issue where someone on the staff (perhaps a contractor) is threatening to sue for increased compensation or royalties and there is the possibility they'll deny the usage of the contribution during the production to the film. This probably compounded prior production issues. The release of the trailers indicates a product nearing completion, and the sporadic delays to the release suggest that there is no certainty as to when the issues are to be resolved.

It's looking good. The new date makes a lot sense, being during the school break. It's obvious the original delays were due to COVID, and then they decided to pump up the franchise with side content and gachas before fully committing to the main movie. All of which was needed to revitalize interest.

They've JUST finished airing the edited re-runs of movie 1+2 in 2025. They also have a mobile game going to keep kids invested in this shit. In 2024, they had a re-screening of Rebellion.

It goes over everyone's heads that this a franchise they're trying to profit from, which can't be done if none of the demographics that are actually going to theaters don't know about the previous content.

They've laid all the groundwork needed to pour the interest back into the main story, so now, summer/winter windows are extremely plausible for the movie to come out. You just need to look at it from an investor perspective instead of a jaded fan who's been waiting a decade+ for a sequel without paying much attention to everything else around the brand.
