Don't worry, my uncle knows Kamachi and he's confirmed to me that they're making a spinoff about Saten, Uiharu, and Frenda (in a wheelchair). Together, they investigate low-level crimes and urban legends.

Assuming they are all about the same strength when wielded by Kimi, which dragon would have been the worst case scenario for the railsluts?

Any dragon with an open jaw would be an instant loss, Angel was the only pure caster/support type and Kimi didn't have the juice to actually use his abilities, so all he could really do was to thrash around with his body. Sword, Blind & Snake feel like they would fare really well in a raw ungabunga scenario so them. On that note with only 2 dragons looking like true caster types and only one having its jaws closed shut Mikoto sure lucked out, or I guess Kimi drew the short stick.

>all dragons except for the king were released
>they all look for a suitable power source since IB blocked them from Touma
>Kimi was the only one close enough to reach before they shrivel and disappear
>she's only compatible with the lowest energy cost one
A real waste of potential but would make sense.
>>
>>286396797
Angel appeared to heave life preservation capabilities, he defended Kimi with wing shields and enhanced her overall resistance to a rather absurd degree. The process of integration looked incredibly damaging to Kimi's body so there is a good chance he was busy preserving her life more than anything. Low energy environment while also having to walk on eggshells just to avoid accidentally turning her into a body horror art piece.

Index manga is an adaptation of LNs and there are a lot of them, like a lot. Railgun manga is its own thing within the setting with another writer in charge. There are 3ish? side story Railgun LNs if you are just interested in more Railgun content though.

Can not remember their powers but iirc there was a poison one and the fire one burned souls. Probably really bad for railsluts. Angel was OP but at least Saltification could by stopped by hiding behind something.

Unless Item anime is so incredibly popular names will probably stay the same. The new railgun anime still has to come out and good chance there will be a new spinoff focusing on railgun coming out at some point during this next group of anime.

The Index Manga is the main work for the series. The long pauses and eventual animation are synched up with the Index Manga. Index 2 and Index 3 happened once the manga got to those parts. As the manga is just starting ww3 once it finishes either it will be in a new magazine or will continue and all the side story and spin off work can finally enter NT
>>
>>
>>286420185
So you are suggesting that the reason Index season 3 took 7 years and the reason we've gone 8 years without season 4 is because the Index manga moves at a snails pace? It's been nearly 20 fucking years and it is only 1/3rd of the way through the novels, at this pace it would take 25 more years to get through NT. All the other anime and manga should leave it in the dust!
>>
>>
>>
>>286420431
It could be either the manga or the anime has to reach NT first. Railgun skipped about 6 volumes at a time between arcs to keep pace with the Index manga since it started really slowing down. It would be sad, but it wouldn't surprise me if Chuuya's only going to go up through WW3 and stop too. He's been going at for 20 years and is getting out about 25-30 pages a month as opposed to his old 40-45. They are getting older and that shit must be back breaking. It would be a good time for a wave of new younger artists though.
>>
>>
>>286421328
It's either that or personal/health problems. We don't know anything about these guys, so the only thing we can base it off of is page count or drawing quality. Chuuya has a bit less, which could be him just trying to be more meticulous in his drawings, but Fuyukawa was putting out 10ish pages for years before a bit of life coming back. I could be wrong obviously.

Tough to say, on the surface there are only 2 arcs left, the Jailbreaker arc and the Past arc. Railgun T adapted 2 arcs, the Daihaseisai arc and the Doppelganger arc, both arcs fit perfectly into the 24 episode season with no need for filler like the previous 2 seasons which adapted 1 arc each, Level Upper and Sisters and made up extra arcs to fill in the gaps, Big Spider, Poltergeist and Silent Party.
Here is the problem. Jailbreaker arc is the same length as the previous 2 arcs, Daihaseisai and Dopplganger, each of these 3 arcs took about 3 years real time to complete. Railgun Past arc took 5 years to complete, it has 52 chapters, it is almost big enough to be its own season. That leaves more or less 3 options available.
Option 1: Cut down the content to fit 24 or maybe 26 episodes. Not a great option but also not disastrous. Past arc is a bit bloated, you can lose some stuff with minimal rewrites and still tell the same basic story. The best bad option.
Option 2: Tell the whole story but at a faster pace and with little detail. The worst option IMO because that is more or less the same problem season 3 had. Everyone talks fast, dialog is truncated and you are always hopping to the next scene with no ambience.
Option 3: A 12 Episode season covering Jailbreaker. Not the greatest feeling idea but it leaves the possibility to give Past arc a full season. I actually suspect that ITEM and Railgun are each a single cour season, each only 12 or 13 episodes long but I hope I am wrong. I want more Toaru anime damnit, they are overdue.
Option 4: Do Jailbreaker and an extra arc. This sadly might be the best option because ending Railgun(current day) on Jailbreaker seems anti climatic and if Railgun is not continuing in another form like a sequel series then it could use a better conclusion. It also leaves the door open to make the Past arc its own season in 5 years. Railgun P I guess.

More than likely. Jailbreaker can probably fit well into 12 episodes if they don't add any Nagaispace. I've always found parts of railgun to be painfully slow. The first year arc has a metric shit load of talking though. That's going to be rough to fit in the back 12-14.

Any guesses who they'll get to voice Choubi? Murakawa Rie has been phone since Railgun S, but obviously they won't want to spoil the twist in the credits and there's supposed to be a voice changer involved anyway. Might still want someone who can sound similar for her later appearances, so it doesn't feel off once you know.

You could say those are the most dangerous enemy for a system of violence like the Mugino Family that cannot go to the police. Enemies do not appear out of nowhere. But if you give them room, they will grow. Lady Shizuri, please be cautious. It is too late once they have grown. You must nip them in the bud before they can grow. You must correct your own people. This is the most necessary task in supporting a large and powerful Family that’s members support each other.”

I'm convinced that the ITEM spin off was done to replaced railgun. It was already odd to get another ongoing LN, then it got a manga adaption shortly after, and now and anime. They knew Railgun was ending and wanted to setup a new girl group series because mental out isn't pulling its weight.

>>286436609
The final arc of railgun has been going for five years and I'm sure they knew it was the last going in. Since then we have gotten two spin offs which unlike Dark matter, and Astral buddy are intended to be ongoing.
>>
>>286436609
It does line up if they started working on a replacement right when the first year arc started. It probably took them 25 seconds to convince Kamachi to write an Item spin off, a week to get drafts, and then 2 years to establish distribution, artists, editors, etc.

>>
>>
>>286436766
They dont convince Kamachi of anything for the LN and manga they are following his lead. The anime is a different story that is following various groups that are in charge of anime production. The railgun manga is ending because either Fuyukawa is ready to call it quits and that is the end of his series as an artist, this was all the side story that Kamachi wants to tell for Railgun or a new railgun story is going to pick up after the conclusion and this is just a title change to reset volumes and go into NT. We will find out more in next few months or years.

This is based on the fact that they ask him to write something, he then brings in 10 different drafts they have to sort through. That's how the movie was born. He does what he wants mostly with the actual content is what I recall Miki saying he's super stubborn about. I don't think I've read anywhere they just let him do whatever. I mean, he wanted to do a Kuroko spin off but they pushed for a Mikoto one.

Yea but MO would still make way more sense. It is easy as fuck to have Railgun characters cameo in it and fits the "railgun vibe" way better than something like ITEM. It just needs an anime and the Railgun-only audience would probably eat it up
>>

>>
>>
>>286437979
Chalk it up to more management incompetence. Like lets cut the shit: We dont even NEED a Railgun manga for a railgun anime. If they asked Kamachi to give them Railgun SS novels to adapt, he could easily shit them out.
They could literally have endless Railgun if they wanted to, just as much as they could have had endless Index. They just dont because theyre fucking retarded.

Give me four "normal" Misaka clones living in an apartment and make one of them 10042. Follow their day to day learning to be more human, going on missions to save kids in bad situations, hanging out with / stalking Kamijou, Railgun and Accelerator and frequent guest stars like Last Order, 10032, Worst Fremea, Umidora, Mental Out, the RailDex crew, Kouzaku and Dolly. Set it a month before the big reveal and then have the second arc be where they are out.
>>
>>286444047
>What was the point of the flashback for railgun?
Some people say that it exists solely so they don't cross over into WW3 / NT but I think it was supposed to be a regular arc that got away from itself, went on for 5 years and then the author burned out.

>Some time before ITEMvol2, Frenda meets Aihana, is informed about how she'll die on October 9th next year as Six Wings fly overhead.
>Six Wings don't yet exist.
>Frenda accidentally frendian slips a mention of the Six Wings in volume 2. Nobody gives a shit because she's the tech nerd, no them.
>Aihana confronts Mugino, teases her about the inevitable future.
>In volume 4, Frenda's actions outside the city lead to a whole bunch of Two Wings getting wrecked by Mugino. They're kinda shit. A new model is needed.
>Frenda is hardly subtle about how she was pretty sure she's destined to die at another time. Gee I wonder how she could've known that.
>Aihana confronts Choubi, mentions the disparity regarding the Two Wings and the Six Wings (the Six is not yet public knowledge), but deliberately mentions Mugino name-dropping them, and not Frenda who actually said it, so as to not betray Frenda's link to Aihana.
>Six Wings debuts in volume 6. Still new enough not to have fully replaced the full stock of Two Wings, at least until they're fully confident in it.
Aihana and ITEM's actions directly result in the creation of the Six Wings. Frenda knowing about them even before causing them to exist means that she's met with Aihana and knows about the future, including her death.
But why would Frenda accept information and act (whether consciously or not) on Aihana's behalf?
>Fast forward to Index.
>Frenda is killed by Mugino as the machine they caused to exist flies overhead.
>OT19, a Six Wings is sent after Hamazura; he is marked an enemy of the state.
>Hamazura is forced to flee to Russia and gains the trump card that frees the rest of ITEM.
>Hamazura returns to Academy City and he is freely able to rescue Fremea Seivelun.
Frenda meeting Aihana = Six Wings existing
Six Wings existing = Fremea's salvation

To give some kind of sendoff to Mikoto as a character in her spinoff I suppose, and to a lesser degree to Kuroko as well, as exploring her past was the last of her as a naive child tied to AC before her adventures could go on in WW3 and beyond. You could argue that Saten and Uiharu got their own as well as their character arcs were completed in the JB arc. I wouldn't know if that was always the plan (I think ending the manga has been an option on the table for years as Fuyukawa's health and output deteriorated, and when and where was always up to him), but it certainly reads like that.
>>
>>
>>286444047
Well the first half was mostly just origin points for things
>This is mikoto kicks the vending machine
>this is why Mikoto starting wearing spats
>this is how she got the idea for the railgun
>this is when she first met Misaki and why they dislike each other
ect,
Then it stumbled a bit with clique war. I think Sha was just a means to wrap it all up because they kinda forgot to use Ruri and Kiyoshi even though they was supposed to be the focal point of the flashback.

"“Mugino… In the end, we have to give up,” said an astonished Frenda as she scattered mines to slow the enemy down.
…That Frenda could say something like this without it sounding out of place made Kinuhata suspect she was always adjusting her *emotional distance* even during ordinary conversations." - ITEM6ch4
Odd how "emotional distance" was in italics in the text. Either Kaibi is involved somehow or Frenda's already an actual traitor (in contact with Aihana). I'm betting on the latter.
"But people can adjust to anything, [...] Even if they feel powerful guilt at first, they will gradually adjust as time goes on. The guilt will fade. So there are traitors who have diluted their guilt to nearly nothing at all. You could say those are the most dangerous enemy for a system of violence like the Mugino Family that cannot go to the police." - ITEM6ep
Guys I think Kamachi's setting up Mugino to kill Frenda. Why would he do such a thing lol.
>>
>>
>>286445160
There's almost zero character overlap between AB and Jailbreaker, so you could actually mix it in at any point, or even have it as an ongoing B plot. Just kind of unsatisfying because the arcs don't end up tying together in any way either, but maybe Nagai can figure something out.
>>
>>286445309
Volume 6 dedicated the whole novel to basically just explaining how Mugino's retarded and she just does that sometimes just make sure she doesn't do it to you lol. Mugi just had a woman moment and Frenda got caught lacking she's such a silly goose teehee. Yass queen slay!

>By the way, what to do with Halloween was a little tricky since this series takes place before Index OT1. I ended up deciding it didn’t matter when it caught on in Japan because I was focused on the blonde-haired blue-eyed Seivelun sisters.
Pretty much confirms the idea that the series has always remained set in 2004, and all the "modern" tech is just due to AC being ahead. At least from searching around a bit, that seems to be about the time when Halloween having caught on or not would even be a concern.

In ITEMv4, it's noted that phones outside of Academy City only having 10 colour screens, which is a bit behind by 2004 standards, but then again, AC is hogging all the good advancements so outside tech could be behind compared to our timeline.
The serial numbers on the level 6 shift documents that Touma found under Mikoto's bed in OT3 indicates that the year is 2005 (OT3 was written in 2004 so Kamachi didn't just copy-paste off his calendar). That is the only concrete data we have about the year Toaru is set in.

The duality of man. Either way you feel, as some people have already said Railgun ending means it's also the end of Saten and Uiharu having regular screen time, and that does make me a bit nostalgiac even though neither were ever among my favorite characters. There is a Railgun / Accelerator anthology manga that is still untranslated, one of the stories is these three having a dorm sleepover and when the subject of their lack of experience with men comes up, Kongou decides to cross dress to give them that experience. It ends with all 3 of them in Kongou's bed with Awatsuki and Wannai fighting over her.
