He loses some of his cocky swagger that made him fun pre-memories along the way, but I believe the real reason he gets dumped on is that only 2 out of his 5 fights in the KAT are good. Some of which falls on guys like Inaba and Cosmo being pretty lame opponents for a protagonist and on Waka for being a bullshit character.

The Cosmo fight is excellent, in fact every Cosmo fight in the KAT is excellent, and Waka's other fights (Gozo, Julius, Muteba) are all also good so I don't think you can blame Waka for the Ohma fight being bad. I don't even think the Waka/Ohma fight is bad it just feels simplistic. And Ohma is actually better received post-Raian coma when he thinks he's going to die.

The *actual* reason Ohma is not liked in early Ashura is because he's cocky without being able to back it up; he's at his most smug early on after beating Rihito (lol), only barely makes it past Seki and then gets ragdolled by Hatsumi. He's hugely overreliant on his super mode to bail him out and people got annoyed when he needed it in three big fights in a row (Seki/Inaba/Raian). It wasn't apparent until at least after the Inaba fight that Ohma is full of shit intentionally early on (for instance he tells Kiryu he doesn't care about revenge but he *absolutely* does he's just hiding it). That's why the pinball scene with Agito is liked so much.

I think a Kenichi/Kengan crossover would be fun if it's just them teaming up to fight some random enemy rather than a competition between the casts. I think you could suspend some disbelief with Kengan vs Baki but the Masters in Kenichi are just literal super humans. The Elder blows up a missile with his fists point blank and was unharmed by the explosion for fucks sake, there's just no way a Kengan character can reasonably compete against that. Even below the Elder, the masters are walking on water and shooting shockwaves that can destroy buildings.
