It's not like just stealing terms from other languages is THAT foreign (pun intended) to English, we did the same for youkai and pretty much all Japanese youkai keep their original names. I think the reason for that is because they're distinct enough that just, for example, calling an oni a "japanese ogre" isn't an adequate description because it would make people think of a western ogre first then add Japanese to that, rather than something which is distinct by itself.
The problem is "mazoku" is too generic and ill-defined, there's nothing particularly distinguishing it from how we already use "demons" as a generic term for all evil supernatural things.
