I've made a mistake of reading the manga, and it's so shit, it retroactively soured my enjoyment of the anime.
The director doesn't get enough credit for how much he managed to salvage from a bad source.
Shibou Yuugi gets talked about in this context because the adaptation is le artsy to the point of a meme, but I think it's a more impressive achievement when it's seamless.

This episode ended at the beginning of chapter 28, so we're currently at around 51% of the manga. Meanwhile the anime is now 69% of its runtime. I guess you could do a second season by taking it slower, but who knows.

Its been a pretty great adaptation.
They trimmed some of the domesticism out of the manga, and made it more focused on the drama.
It is honestly hard to say. There's an entire plot regarding Asa's father that would be hard to fit in the remaining runtime, so that might end up being trimmed so it is just focused on motherhood and relationships towards it.
