Greetings gentlemen of culture, animefag here. Recently I’ve been experiencing a strong urge to revisit this series. I was planning to buy a physical set for the English release but then it occurred to me to check quality first and apparently some have said the print quality isn’t so good? Something to do with the digital grey scales of the manga not meshing well with the cheap grey paper Seven Seas uses. What do you guys think? Is it too dark? Being able to read physical manga for the first time time in years would be neat but experiencing Tsukushi’s art in all its glory is half the reason I want to read the manga in the first place so now I’m thinking to just read it online.

As somebody who bought English, Japanese, and French volumes of Made in Abyss, I can attest to Seven Seas release butchering the print quality, but even the japanese releases were to my taste a bit worse than digital. The french ones were in the middle.
The reason for that being, well, Made in Abyss is a webcomic first and foremost. A lot of mangaka use screentones and stuff even when working digitally that would be able to be printed well with cheap ish paper (JP volumes aren't ultra HQ usually either) but Tsukushi as is clear by his drawing style wasn't too focused on that.
If you want to spend money on physical MiA books, I highly recommend the anime artbooks. If you got money to burn you can then buy the (JP) Blurays, but outside of that I just will say it's not worth reading MiA itself physically.

Here’s a classic, bakery-style chocolate chip cookie recipe that gives you soft centers, crisp edges, and rich flavor.
Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients (makes ~24 cookies)
2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp fine salt
1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
¾ cup (165g) packed brown sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Mix dry ingredients:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Cream butter & sugars:
In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
Add eggs & vanilla:
Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
Combine:
Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Scoop & bake:
Scoop 2-tablespoon portions onto baking sheets (about 2 inches apart).
Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden but centers still look slightly soft.
Cool:
Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Chapter soon then huh? I'll be generally available for typesetting work minus a friday or saturday night obligation over the upcoming weekends.
I'll try to update the guide with the new HakuNeko stuff you guys figured out in the last thread too at some point this week.

Overall, the official English release is good. The first several volumes are somewhat darker than they should be, but it's fine if you read in a properly lit room, and not in the dark with a flashlight. There have only been two instances of censorship, but neither are particularly egregious. In one of the volumes, the moved a lewd page from the begging of the volume to the end, and they obscured some nipples on the front cover of another volume.

I found a lot on ebay with the manga and official anthology, I'm not really snobbish about print quality but it was worth it for me. I picked up the latest one (vol 13) and the fight near the end ws hard to tell what was going on, I remember that much

It would be useful to come up with something to at least partially overcome the sensory suppression so as not to be attacked again by that jellyfish or other damn thing that uses it.
As far as I'm concerned, both teams should share more information about themselves and practice their response to an attack several times so that they can react even before Srajo gives the order.
It's clear that Srajo's team has practiced this, judging by the way she gives orders and how coordinated they are.

Now that they know about it, it should be pretty straightforward to notice it. They just need to pay closer attention to their surroundings. If everything starts to go quiet then they know they're about to be attacked.
