Honestly seeing Killingham get broken to pieces like that wasn't satisfying. It feels like Oda has a really hard time punishing villains. He rarely kills them in the first place even when they by all rights should and deserve to have died whenever they get defeated, but they're just knocked out and either bandaged up somewhere still the same, or they're in prison with no signs of rehabilitation, remorse or even suffering.

Like Killingham's been a bastard ever since he debuted and he's been humiliated and shat on like twice now, and it'll probably happen a third time before the arc ends but he gets up like a looney tunes character and continues to be a bastard. Same goes for Charlos.

I'm not a Shanks fan but even I can tell that Oda loves him a lot. He was one of the first characters introduced into the series and has major endgame important. His character is tied with so many other plotlines and major players and he is Luffy's idol. Oda even made him the Destined Child and said his more frequent appearances indicate the story is closer to it's end. Given all of this do you really find it hard to believe that Oda will make Shanks incredibly strong? And besides, the oldgen like Roger and Rocks and Garp aren't the peak. Its been emphasized many times of how the new/current gen have surpassed them.

Its clear that he doesn't actually hate Shanks and he even knows where Shanks is headed to next. Is it really so hard to believe that Loki was convinced not to pursue his goal and wait until Luffy/Joyboy arrives?
Keep in mind that Loki has a gigantic dragon transformation and could've simply flown to Marygeois any time. But he didn't for 8 years so he was doing something else. And that isn't mentioning Ragnir as well. If Shanks did defeat Loki then nobody would've been able to pick up Ragnir and drag him to Elbaph. In fact, its very likely that Loki willingly agreed to settle down and chain himself and then set down Ragnir on to the ground.
